The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Cheng Wu looked at the letter in his hand, ”Steward Rong, what does the letter say?”

Rong Hou handed the letter to him, and after reading it, the latter was shocked, ”How could it be?”

”What are your thoughts?”

Cheng Wu pondered for a moment with his eyes downcast, then leaned close to Rong Hou’s ear and whispered a few words, ”I think we can do it like this...”

Rong Hou nodded, ”Let’s do as you say. Come on, let’s go check on them.”

The two headed towards the courtyard where Lord Cheng was held. Shu Yu was already awake, and a guard had brought breakfast.

But Zhao Xi shook his head and said, ”There’s poison in this food.”

Lord Cheng said, ”Earlier, Cheng Xian and the others tried to escape to send a message. Although they failed, the other side has been poisoning our food just to be safe, weakening our strength considerably. It’s fine for moving around normally, but it’s impossible if we try to break out.”

This is why they hadn’t tied up Lord Cheng and his group.

Lord Cheng himself had some martial skills, coupled with his three sons in the room, who had been trained in martial arts since childhood. Even if their skills were not exceptional, they were still practitioners.

Shu Yu frowned slightly at the food before her, not really wanting to eat.

The Cheng Family had already become accustomed to it. They didn’t want to eat either, but without eating, they’d have even less strength.

While Shu Yu was still hesitating, the door was opened, and Cheng Wu and Rong Hou stood outside.

Before Rong Hou could speak, Cheng Wu smiled, ”What, can’t eat? I advise you to eat sooner rather than later. There’s news that will be hard for you to swallow.”

Lord Cheng snorted coldly, Zhao Xi asked, ”What news, so unappetizing?”

Cheng Wu, ”...”

He scoffed, ”General Shen is dead. Now, the 20,000 troops stationed in the southwest are completely under our control.”

Lord Cheng was shocked, stepping back two steps in disbelief, ”Impossible.”

Cheng Wu tossed him a whistle, something General Shen always carried. Unless something happened, he would never part from it. Lord Cheng knew this.

He instantly gasped for breath and fell backward stiffly.

”Lord Cheng.”

”Father.”

”Lord.”

Zhao Xi quickly rushed forward to help, while Rong Hou looked at Shu Yu, ”County magistrate, it’s time to take you to see the Dongqing Temple master. You’ve had a night to think it over, haven’t you?”

Shu Yu’s lips tightened, her expression solemn.

She didn’t know if Cheng Wu was telling the truth. If he was, the situation was indeed moving in the worst direction.

She gave Ying Xi and the others a reassuring glance and followed Rong Hou out the door.

After a few steps, Rong Hou seized the moment when no one was around to quietly say, ”General Shen is fine, just missing.”

Shu Yu was taken aback, looking up at him.

But Rong Hou was already speeding ahead.

Shu Yu discreetly curved her lips slightly; it seemed Rong Hou had figured it out faster than she expected? Approaching him was indeed the right decision.

As they reached the entrance of the Dongqing Temple master’s courtyard, Rong Hou suddenly said, ”That concubine Ms. Wang beside Lord Cheng is one of ours.”

Shu Yu raised her eyebrows, indeed, they had placed an insider in Lord Cheng’s room.

Since Rong Hou was so perceptive, Shu Yu naturally wouldn’t let him down.

”Rest assured, Steward Rong, you will be duly rewarded.”

Having said that, she stepped into the Dongqing Temple master’s courtyard.
