The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Steward Rong Hou paused for a moment upon hearing Shu Yu’s words, squinting as he asked, ”What do you want to discuss with me?”

Shu Yu turned her head to look at the people standing at the entrance. Rong Hou pondered for a moment and waved his hand, signaling those beside him to leave.

Shu Yu raised her head again to look at the roof, ”There should be people up there too.”

”Does the County Magistrate want no one by my side?”

Shu Yu understood what he was worried about, and she felt there was no need for that concern. ”Is the steward worried that I might take the opportunity to do something to you? The weapons on me have long been confiscated by you, I can’t do anything. Besides, my family and the Cheng Family are both in your hands. Even if the people in this courtyard are withdrawn, aren’t there still archers surrounding Cheng Mansion from every direction? In this situation, if I dare to take action against you, wouldn’t I be courting my own death?”

Rong Hou pondered for a moment. Indeed, if she really killed him, she wouldn’t be able to escape.

As for taking him hostage, that was even more impossible. His influence wasn’t so great that he alone could be exchanged for their entire group.

He really wanted to see what this County Lord Lu wanted to say to him after meeting the Dongqing Temple master.

”Alright, let’s see what tricks you have up your sleeve.”

Rong Hou ordered everyone inside and outside the courtyard to leave, gathering them outside the courtyard.

Then he fetched a chair for himself and sat opposite Shu Yu and the Dongqing Temple master.

Although he felt Shu Yu wouldn’t dare do anything, to be safe, he still kept a distance of five meters from them.

Shu Yu remained very obedient, sitting quietly beside the Dongqing Temple master. The latter raised his eyes to glance at her but said nothing, then closed his eyes again.

Shu Yu looked at Rong Hou, ”Steward...”

”You can call me Steward Rong, County Magistrate.”

”Very well, Steward Rong, earlier I had a chat with my master. I think you should also know my master’s comments, you are at the end of your tether now, and this action will not yield good results, right?”

Rong Hou’s face changed slightly, of course he knew, and every time he thought about it, his heart would become extremely anxious.

Shu Yu smiled, ”And I believe there shouldn’t be many who know about this matter, right?”

Rong Hou pressed his lips tightly. Yes, ever since he learned about this comment, he hesitated for a long time before informing those above him. This comment is extremely serious; if it were circulated while a rebellion is imminent, it would definitely weaken the morale of the troops.

Knowing it’s a dead-end road, who would willingly follow it if they had other options?

Only those without retreat would unyieldingly find ways to break the impasse.

But such people are too few. Therefore, those who know about the Dongqing Temple master’s comments, including Rong Hou, probably don’t exceed ten.

Shu Yu saw from his expression that she hadn’t guessed incorrectly.

”Steward Rong knows there’s no road ahead, yet insists on running into a dead end. This is truly not a wise move. I ask, haven’t you considered taking a different path, which might lead to a bright future?”

Rong Hou raised his head abruptly, squinting as he asked, ”What does the County Magistrate mean by this?”

”Steward Rong, you’re following the Second Prince at the end of your tether, but what if you work for the current Emperor instead? My master has said that the current Emperor is the rightful ruler, the True Emperor. Isn’t following him better than following a Second Prince with no future? You are a smart person, you have ambitions and aspirations, but you also need to bet on the right horse, don’t you?”

Rong Hou sneered, ”You want to turn me against them?”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”This isn’t turning against them, this is offering Steward Rong a more suitable path.”
