The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

When tranquility returned to the Cheng Mansion, it was already two hours later.

Zhao Xi, accompanying the Cheng Family’s female members, carried in several injured family members. The Cheng Family members were generally not very skilled; Lord Cheng had been shot by an arrow, but fortunately, the force wasn’t great and the wound wasn’t deep.

The eldest son of the Cheng Family received two cuts, and his injuries were the most severe, causing Madam Cheng to shed tears.

Zhao Xi had already attended to them, and seeing many people over there, Shu Yu did not go over.

She turned over several guards who had rushed into the house, and pulled out the crossbow arrows that hit them for recovery.

Then she stood up and looked at the bloodied Meng Yunzheng entering the door, ”Is everything taken care of?”

”Almost, but we still need to confirm if everyone is here.” Meng Yunzheng, holding a blood-stained sword, walked to Rong Hou, ”You know how many people are in this mansion, right?”

Rong Hou nodded, ”I do, I know.”

”Count the people and see if anyone is hiding.”

”Alright.”

Rong Hou propped himself up on the table and took a long breath before following Meng Yunzheng outside.

As they walked out of the courtyard, he saw unfamiliar faces moving bodies back and forth outside, causing him to abruptly halt his steps, ”They are...”

”My people.”

Meng Yunzheng’s trip to the southwest was originally sanctioned by the Emperor.

Naturally, the Emperor would dispatch personnel for him, and Meng Yunzheng also had his own subordinates.

Years ago, he was constantly trying to overthrow Gong Qiu, and thus cultivated his own forces, such as Manager Yun from the capital. A few years ago, Meng Yunzheng had accompanied Shu Yu to the southwest, bringing these subordinates along to search for the Dongqing Temple master.

After Gong Qiu was beheaded and the Second Prince was imprisoned, Meng Yunzheng’s life returned to normal and he started preparing for the imperial examinations. So he disbanded these people, as he was only planning to be a carefree Mountain Master in the future. Moreover, these people were greatly skilled and shouldn’t be squandered by following him.

Most of them were recommended by Meng Yunzheng to the Emperor, while a few went back to marry and lead normal lives.

This time, when Meng Yunzheng came to the southwest, aside from those who had families, the others followed him here.

Having worked together in the past, their mutual understanding was impeccable, and employing them proved highly effective.

These people remained hidden in the shadows and would only emerge under dire circumstances.

Today was the opportunity for them to show their hand.

Rong Hou looked at these people and couldn’t help but swallow, increasingly convinced that his choice was the right one.

Otherwise, he would have been caught unaware if they had collaborated inside and out against him.

Meng Yunzheng took him around to count the number of people, and indeed some were hiding.

Fortunately, they’d all been drugged by Rong Hou, so even if they’d hidden, they were unconscious and easy to find.

Shu Yu didn’t participate in the aftermath; she went to find the Dongqing Temple master.

The latter appeared in good spirits, and Shu Yu poured her a cup of water, ”Master, the guards in the Cheng Mansion have been taken down. What are your plans next?”

”And you?”

Shu Yu, ”We still need to wait for news in the mansion.”

The Dongqing Temple master pondered for a moment, ”I’ll stay with you.”

In the ensuing days, the inside and outside of the Cheng Mansion were thoroughly cleaned up.

The Cheng Family members suffered some injuries, requiring them all to recuperate.

After three or four days passed, Lord Cheng was finally able to get out of bed and walk around. He was particularly worried about General Shen, and wanted to ask Meng Yunzheng about the situation with the stationed troops.

That night, urgent knocking suddenly sounded at the door outside the Cheng Mansion.
