The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

”The year before last, Yun had already started inviting well-learned scholars from various places to teach at the academy. For example, Mr. Huai’an, a famous great scholar, was invited with much effort by Yun.”

”The first batch of students, the pioneering teachers have all been recruited, and all the preliminary preparations are completed, just waiting for Yun to pass as an Advanced Scholar and formally start the courses.”

”Teacher, this academy is not an impulsive action by Yun; it is a decision he made after years of careful consideration, and he has put in a considerable amount of effort. Perhaps you are right, Yun could achieve great things if he were in the court. But as the Mountain Master at the academy, I believe he can still nurture many officials who will contribute to the imperial court and Dasu. Isn’t that quite good as well?”

Qi Chan looked at her, then at the painting on the wall.

On his way here, he had prepared words of persuasion to speak with Shu Yu, even listing the pros and cons one by one. He was confident in his eloquence and thought that Shu Yu, being well-informed and considerate of Meng Yunzheng’s interests, would surely understand what he said.

However, at this moment, he suddenly couldn’t utter a word.

From the painting and Shu Yu’s words, he realized how firm Meng Yunzheng’s determination to open the academy and become the Mountain Master was.

He thought, this time he was going to return without success.

Finally, Qi Chan let out a long sigh, ”Forget it, although it’s a pity, you’re right. In every trade, there is a top scorer. For someone as wise and brave as Meng Yunzheng, his achievements won’t be low wherever he is.”

”Thank you, teacher, for your understanding.”

Shu Yu then looked at Yao Tianqin, who rubbed his temples, ”With the Grand Tutor speaking like this, I won’t persuade anymore. In any case, you two think it through yourself; just don’t regret it later.”

No, even if they regret it, the emperor probably would still find a place for Meng Yunzheng.

This kid, his way back is quite broad, isn’t it?

Qi Chan and Yao Tianqin eventually returned without success and left Lu’s.

However, Meng Yunzheng’s refusal to accept an official position in the court spread throughout the influential families in the capital in just half a day.

The first reaction from everyone who heard it was the same as that of the civil and military officials present at the time — has Meng Yunzheng gone mad?

He worked so hard to finally become the top scorer, and now, eyeing a glorious future, he decides to return without even serving as an official for a day?

Incomprehensible, truly incomprehensible.

Xiang Family.

Xiao Ruojun sprayed a mouthful of tea as she heard about it, ”Meng Yunzheng is going back to be the academy’s Mountain Master? Then what about Yu?”

Xiang Weinan quickly gave her a handkerchief to wipe, ”Naturally, they are going back together.”

Xiao Ruojun: Then wouldn’t she and Yu be separated again?

Wan Family.

Madam Hou’s hand, which was originally massaging Lord Wan’s temples, suddenly pressed too hard, almost poking his eye.

Lord Wan let out a ’tsk’, afraid to let her continue, quickly pulled her to sit by his side.

Madam Hou was still a bit lost, ”Why, why is this happening? Isn’t he the six-time top scorer? He’s the top scorer; why would he go back to teach?”

With that, she suddenly stood up, ”No, I have to find Yu. Yu has already opened a shop in the capital, and now he decides not to be an official; what will Yu do in the future?”

Lord Wan pulled her back, ”Wen’an County Lord must know about this. I heard from the emperor that Meng Yunzheng decided this three years ago. Think about it, given the relationship between Wen’an County Lord and Meng Yunzheng, could she not know?”
