The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Xiang Weinan saw Ying Xi and Shu Yu behind her, and was momentarily stunned.

He quickly reacted and asked with a smile, ”Are you here to see Ruojun?”

Xiang Weinan knew Shu Yu had come to the capital, but he hadn’t seen her. He had been very busy lately and hadn’t even gone to the small courtyard south of the city. He didn’t expect to see her here.

Ruojun? Shu Yu raised an eyebrow; now he’s calling her quite intimately.

Shu Yu walked over, ”What is Lord Xiang doing here?”

”I just came to do something outside the city, and I brought something for Ruojun on the way. I’m about to leave. Ruojun is at home. I just mentioned you to her. She said she would come to the city to catch up with you in a couple of days. Seeing you here now, she’ll be very happy. Come in quickly.”

Xiang Weinan stepped aside to let Shu Yu in, then raised his voice and called inside.

He then said to Shu Yu, ”I have matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving first.”

”Hey, wait, I’m not just here to see my sister-in-law; I also wanted to find you. There’s something I want to discuss with both of you.”

Xiang Weinan was a bit surprised and then noticed that Shu Yu’s face seemed to carry a hint of urgency.

And if it weren’t something urgent, she wouldn’t have come out of the city at this time.

Xiang Weinan nodded and stepped back through the main door.

Xiao Ruojun happened to run out that side and, seeing Shu Yu, was delighted, ”Yu, you’re here. Come in, come in.”

She pulled Shu Yu into the house, talking as they walked, ”Why did you come at this hour? I was just about to find you in two days. Young Master Meng has entered the examination hall, right? I’ve been living on this manor feeling like I’m isolated from the world. I almost forgot the Imperial Examination has started.”

She truly didn’t keep track of the days. Living on this manor was like being cut off from the world. Most days, she would embroider flowers, plant vegetables, read books, and practice her handwriting. Time passed quickly.

If Xiang Weinan hadn’t come, she wouldn’t have realized it had been ten days since they last met.

Xiao Ruojun was very happy to see Shu Yu and kept asking many questions while pulling her along.

Shu Yu sighed helplessly, ”I’ll answer those questions later. I came today because there’s something I need to tell you both.”

Xiao Ruojun paused, then noticed that Xiang Weinan, who was about to leave, had returned.

Shu Yu gave Xiang Weinan a look, who then asked everyone in the living room to step out. Once the room was clear, Shu Yu shared the news she had heard today at the cosmetic shop with the two of them.

She spoke while looking at Xiao Ruojun, ”I don’t know if what Miss Xue Yun said is true. Sister-in-law, do you know this Miss Xue?”

Xiao Ruojun lowered her eyes, thought for a moment, and slowly, hesitantly said, ”I seem to have some impression. A few years ago, I attended a celebration for an old woman’s birthday, and there was a young woman who was bullied. I couldn’t stand it and spoke up for her. Later, the young woman’s mother brought her to thank me, but I didn’t think much of it and didn’t pay attention afterward.”

Shu Yu nodded. Xiao Ruojun, relying on the Xiao Family, indeed developed a bit of arrogance in her character, but she wasn’t evil-hearted.

Aside from pushing her family to request a marriage from the late emperor for her through the former Noble Princess Consort Xiao, which was very selfish and disrespectful, she hadn’t actively harmed anyone.

Shu Yu turned to Xiang Weinan, ”Is Lord Xiang familiar with Princess Jiahui?”

Xiang Weinan’s brows furrowed deeply. Hearing that someone wanted to harm Xiao Ruojun, especially because of him, his expression turned grim.
