The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

This news is about Princess Jiahui. Ever since learning from Xiao Ruojun that Xiang Weinan would deal with the Great Princess, Shu Yu hadn’t paid them any attention.

Who would have thought that after just half a month, the outcome would be apparent?

The rumors circulating outside were murky, seemingly true yet false; Shu Yu couldn’t quite make it out.

To satisfy her burning curiosity, Shu Yu specifically sought out Xiao Ruojun to share in the gossip.

As expected, Xiao Ruojun knew more, but even she was unclear on many details. She only knew that a few days ago, the Emperor suddenly reprimanded the Great Princess and stripped Princess Jiahui of her Commandery Princess title.

Having her title revoked indicated that the situation was indeed serious.

Then, just the day before yesterday, the Great Princess married off Jiahui to an outbound fourth-rank official as his second wife.

In order not to delay the official’s deployment, only a marriage contract was signed; there was no banquet, and Princess Jiahui was directly sent out of the capital with the official.

This move shocked everyone; how was this following an outbound official to his post? It was clearly a hasty escape.

What exactly did Princess Jiahui do to leave the capital in such hurried panic and become the second wife to an obviously demoted official in his thirties? With her status, there must be something fishy in between that no one would believe otherwise.

Some wanted to go to the Great Princess to inquire, but the Great Princess claimed illness, closed her doors to guests, and saw no one.

Unable to find out there, some sought to inquire before the Empress.

The Empress also refused to see anyone; she was almost sick with frustration herself. The Emperor’s reprimands were not just directed at the Great Princess; she was implicated as well.

Though she hadn’t committed any wrongdoing, the audacity of the Great Princess and Princess Jiahui was atrocious: occupying good land, recklessly disregarding human life, accepting bribes—one charge after another, none were light offenses.

Why did they dare to do such things? Wasn’t it because they relied on the Empress’s friendly attitude towards them?

The Empress was extremely frustrated. She didn’t want to be close to the Great Princess, but how could she turn her back on someone who had saved her life and be seen as ungrateful?

She finally understood why the Great Princess, this aunt, was not favored by the late Emperor; this dignified royal princess was marginalized to the point of near invisibility.

The Great Princess’s disposition was truly indescribable. When she had requests, she would flatteringly butter up to the Empress with such enthusiasm that it made the Empress cringe.

Even when there was nothing going on, she would come to the Empress just to maintain her presence. Fine, she could come, but she also insisted on giving the Empress lessons in her capacity as an elder, occasionally saying things like, ’Though Aunt’s words are unpleasant, they are truly for the Empress’s sake.’

Even though she struggled to restrain her tone, that kind of elder’s attitude was still displeasing.

If it were anyone else, the Empress would have directly told them to get out.

But the Great Princess had once taken a sword for her, and she did not want to be heartless or subject to criticism, so she tolerated this aunt on many occasions.

Unexpectedly, the Great Princess was completely oblivious and became even more audacious, using her closeness to the Empress to amass wealth unscrupulously, with a very alarming demeanor.

Even though the Emperor had reprimanded them this time, it also relieved the Empress of the Great Princess’s earnestness, bringing her a sense of relief.

Regarding the matter of the Great Princess and Princess Jiahui, everyone was tight-lipped and did not wish to speak of it, only a few knew the inside story.

But the more it was covered up, the more outrageous the outside speculations became.

Fortunately, the next day was the date for the imperial exam announcement, finally diverting everyone’s attention.
