The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

When it came to the matters involving Xiao Ruojun, Shu Yu was confident that Xiang Weinan would handle them, so she opted not to interfere.

The next day was the time for her to inspect the shop.

She went over in the afternoon and found Cen Yi already waiting for her, who promptly stood up upon seeing her arrival, ”County Lord Lu, the shop has been organized. Please take a look and see if there are any issues.”

Shu Yu was straightforward; when it comes to business, it’s better to be clear to prevent any future disputes.

She took Ying Xi and walked around the entire shop. It was well-maintained, even the kitchen in the backyard was thoroughly cleaned, with all the previously scattered wood neatly piled in a corner.

Some counters and boxes that Shu Yu didn’t want, Cen Yi arranged to have them removed, ensuring everything that needed to be cleared out was taken away.

After completing her check, Shu Yu returned, ”No issues, it’s cleaned very well.”

Cen Yi exhaled softly, ”That’s good. If that’s the case, the shop is yours from now on. I wish you a smooth opening and thriving business.”

”Thank you.”

Cen Yi glanced at the shop front again. After all, it was part of her dowry, and there was still a bit of reluctance to part with it.

A moment later, she took a deep breath, ”Then I will take my leave.”

”Goodbye.”

Cen Yi, accompanied by the nanny, was about to exit when she paused at the doorway. She turned to look at Shu Yu and, after a moment of deliberation, said, ”Thank you for speaking up for me yesterday.”

A lot of people, including the female staff in the shop, heard Shu Yu’s questioning of the girl Wu Ling the previous day.

As the boss, Cen Yi naturally heard about it.

Shu Yu was momentarily surprised, then realized what she was referring to and shook her head with a smile, ”I didn’t speak up for you. My fiancé and I were also subjects of their gossip, and I simply didn’t want to be the topic of their baseless chitchat.”

Cen Yi seemed thoughtful, then nodded slightly and left immediately.

She thought that, in the future, she and County Lord Lu truly might not have much interaction.

Once Cen Yi left, Shu Yu directly sought out Craftsman Ding.

In the afternoon, he brought his apprentices and tools to measure the dimensions. According to Shu Yu’s instructions, he began planning after returning.

Shu Yu still hadn’t decided what to do with the second floor, as the first floor was sufficient for selling goods.

So, she thought about turning the second floor into an office meeting room and reception area for the time being, dividing it into three rooms.

This way, when esteemed guests arrive or when discussing matters, they wouldn’t need to go to the backyard.

The backyard would solely serve as a resting and storage area, clearly defined, so there’s no need to bring guests there.

The second floor originally had some elegant rooms, but they were all relatively small and needed to be demolished.

Craftsman Ding said it was not a big problem and could be done quickly.

Shu Yu entrusted the task to him, planning to occasionally check in on the progress.

Craftsman Ding was quite surprised by her trusting and straightforward approach. With such a big shop, most people would have someone overseeing the work, worried about inadequacies.

With Shu Yu’s trust, Craftsman Ding felt reassured and naturally worked harder.

Shu Yu had other matters to attend to, and once the shop issue was settled, the next focus was finding a shopkeeper.

The role of a shopkeeper was more challenging; the capital was different from Changjin Prefecture, surrounded by officials and nobility. Which nearby shop didn’t have someone influential behind it? Shu Yu, even as a county magistrate, was not regarded as sufficiently qualified in the eyes of others.

Therefore, this shopkeeper had to be steady, unassuming yet competent when dealing with customers, making the requirements quite high.
