The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The relationship between Madam Xiang and Xiao Ruojun was neither very good nor very bad.

Madam Xiang was not a forceful person by nature. Although she was unhappy with her son’s hasty marriage, she didn’t clash with Xiao Ruojun due to the powerful backing of the Xiao Family. Xiao Ruojun, because of her love for Wei Nan, was very dutiful to Madam Xiang. While not perfect, she did all that a daughter-in-law should do properly.

Later, when Xiao Ruojun inadvertently discovered a secret of the Xiao Family and was placed under house arrest by them, Madam Xiang did visit her a few times, hoping to bring her back.

As a result, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo got along without significant disputes.

In the end, the less-than-ideal beginning left Madam Xiang with a lingering grudge, disliking Xiao Ruojun’s ways.

However, Wei Nan told his mother that if he divorced Xiao Ruojun and remarried, regardless of other factors, the family would certainly be of good standing. In families with good standing, the daughters are often raised in a pampered environment, and their character and temperament are unknown, but it would require another period of adjustment with Madam Xiang.

Given that Madam Xiang could get along harmoniously with Xiao Ruojun, why go through the adjustment process with someone new? Who knows if a new daughter-in-law would get along with her?

Moreover, Wei Nan and Xiao Ruojun were already acquainted and didn’t want to marry an unfamiliar girl again.

After considering her situation and knowing her son’s wishes, Madam Xiang ultimately said no more and stopped interfering.

Shu Yu was quite amazed upon hearing this, ”But now you live at the Manor all the time, don’t they mind?”

”They probably do, but Wei Nan takes care of all that.”

Initially, Xiao Ruojun was captivated by Wei Nan’s appearance and talent. Now, the more she understood him, the more she admired his character and integrity.

In this way, it seemed she liked him even more and found it harder to be without him.

Thinking of this, Xiao Ruojun gave a bitter smile.

Just as Shu Yu was about to say something, Xiao Ruojun suddenly furrowed her brows in discomfort and covered her mouth, dry heaving once.

Shu Yu was taken aback, ”What’s wrong? Are you carsick?”

She said that as she searched for motion sickness pills in a box, ”Take this.”

But Xiao Ruojun waved her hand, ”It’s nothing, I’m not carsick, no need for medicine. Do you have water? I’d like some water.”

Shu Yu quickly passed over a water flask, and Xiao Ruojun sipped from it slowly, her complexion slightly improving.

”Are you really okay? We’ll pass by my brother-in-law’s house soon, let him take a look at you.”

Xiao Ruojun hesitated for a moment, then agreed, ”Alright.”

She seemed somewhat tired and stopped speaking much, just leaned back against a cushion, closing her eyes to rest.

Occasionally, she still showed signs of nausea, her frown deepening all the while.

Shu Yu watched her, and her expression gradually became odd.

Her demeanour, paired with denying carsickness, could it be...

Shu Yu refrained from asking further, only covering her with a cloak. When she lifted the curtain and saw the carriage had entered the city, she spoke to Wei Nan, who was on horseback leading the way in front, ”Lord Xiang, head to the small courtyard south of the city first.”

”Alright.” Wei Nan originally intended to take her back first anyway.

He just didn’t know Shu Yu had other thoughts at this time.

It was late in the day, and the carriage quickly stopped at the gate of the small courtyard south of the city.

Wei Nan dismounted, planning to just greet Zhao Xishu and leave, but when the courtyard gate opened, Shu Yu was helping Xiao Ruojun off the carriage, and both of them entered the gate.

Wei Nan was momentarily confused but said nothing more, following them inside.
