The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Watching Meng Yunzheng enter the examination hall, Shu Yu finally turned around to leave.

She didn’t go directly to find Wei Nan, knowing that he was busy today and wouldn’t be home. So she went straight to the shop on Futai Street for a look around. Craftsman Ding had already started work, skillfully dismantling the private rooms on the second floor.

Shu Yu bought them some snacks but didn’t stay long before leaving again.

Once the shop is renovated, she’ll need to buy some daily necessities. So she spent the whole afternoon wandering the streets.

However, she discovered something interesting. Originally, there were several cosmetic shops on Futai Street. But in terms of catering to high-end clientele, it was Cen Yi’s cosmetic shop and her rival’s shop.

After Cen Yi sold her shop to her, theoretically, her rival should have been the only one left, and business should have been booming.

Unexpectedly, another cosmetic shop opened not far away today. Judging by the decor and size, it seemed even more superior.

Today being the opening day, there were dragon and lion dances at the entrance, not to mention discounts, attracting a lot of ladies and madams to visit and spend generously.

Cen Yi’s rival’s cosmetic shop had poor business. Not only that, but Cen Yi had closed for days and discounted her makeup products, pulling away potential customers. Now the new shop opened with fanfare and pulled away more customers.

Shu Yu also went into the newly opened cosmetic shop for a look. The products were good but truly expensive.

Luckily, she had previously bought a bunch from Cen Yi’s shop, more than she could use. After wandering around this shop and finding nothing particularly appealing, she left.

Then she bought some gift boxes on the street and, early the next morning, went directly to the Xiang Family with the gifts.

This was Shu Yu’s first visit to the Xiang Family, but as soon as the gatekeeper heard her name, he immediately ran inside to report.

Nanny Gu came personally to greet her with a smile, saying, ”My lady has been thinking about the county magistrate these past two days and finally welcomed you.”

Shu Yu smiled and asked her, ”How’s my sister-in-law doing these days? How’s her appetite?”

”Pretty good, except for feeling uncomfortable in the carriage that day. She’s just been a bit sleepy and easily tired these days, nothing much else. This child knows how hard it is for his mother and is being very well-behaved.”

”That’s good.”

As they talked, they walked, soon arriving at Xiao Ruojun’s courtyard.

Not only Xiao Ruojun but also Madam Xiang was in the courtyard. Seeing Shu Yu, Madam Xiang was very friendly, ”So, you’re Wen’an County Lord? I’ve heard Wei Nan and Ruojun mention you, that you’re talented and caring and often look after them. Now that I’ve met you, it really is true. You and Yunzheng are truly a perfect match.”

Shu Yu was surprised by her enthusiasm, ”Aunt, you’re too kind. Your words make me feel shy.”

”Why shy? Wei Nan told me what happened a few days ago. Thanks to your timely report, otherwise Ruojun would still be at the manor and unaware of her pregnancy. If something had happened, we would regret it deeply.”

”Lord Xiang and my sister-in-law are our friends; it was the right thing to do.”

Madam Xiang, liking her more as she looked, asked about some daily matters but then didn’t interrupt the young ladies’ conversation, ”Take your time chatting. Yu, stay for lunch; I’ll go tell the kitchen.”

After she left, Shu Yu smiled at Xiao Ruojun, ”Madam Xiang treats you well, huh.”

”This child is not only something I’ve longed for but also what my parents have hoped for years.”
