The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Xiang Weinan was somewhat gloomy, sitting across from Meng Yunzheng, and slid a clean teacup towards him.

The latter smiled and poured him a cup of... tea, ”Thank you.”

Xiang Weinan sneered, not wanting to speak.

Meng Yunzheng then looked up at Yun Qide, ”Manager Yun, please have a seat.”

”Yes.” Yun Qide sat down beside him and heard Meng Yunzheng say, ”Although Lord Xiang brought you here, I still need to ask you one question. Are you willing to be the shopkeeper at Yu’s shop?”

”I am willing.”

Meng Yunzheng then looked at Shu Yu, ”You take charge then.” After all, it was her shop, and the matter had to be discussed by them.

Shu Yu didn’t hesitate, asking Yun Qide, ”Has Lord Xiang told you about our situation?”

He hadn’t answered when Xiang Weinan interjected, ”No need for me to say, he’s well aware. The night the shop on Futai Street was bought, he looked into it. Later, knowing you bought it, he specifically asked me what business the shop was doing, well...”

Thinking about it now, he even suspected Manager Yun might have been planning to jump ship at that time.

Shu Yu realized, ”Even though you know, I still have to explain clearly; our shop is newly opened and has no foundation in the capital. It’s still under renovation, and once finished, the goods will be delivered. I will stay in the capital for several months, and once the business stabilizes, I will leave. So, the future of this shop in the capital relies entirely on you. Any issues, you’ll have to resolve them yourself.”

Manager Yun’s expression was serious, and he straightened his back a bit more, ”Don’t worry, Lu Sanzhu, I understand.”

Then he hesitantly spoke up, ”County Lord Lu just mentioned that you will leave in several months; will Young Master Meng also do the same?”

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance; Manager Yun was indeed insightful.

Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”Yes.”

Manager Yun was slightly surprised; wasn’t Young Master Meng participating in the Imperial Examination? If there were no accidents, he might become an official in the capital after becoming an Advanced Scholar.

Though he was curious internally, he didn’t ask further; some things will be understood as the time comes.

Shu Yu asked Manager Yun some questions and found that he was very familiar with the situation in the capital, always focusing on thriving businesses and having a thorough grasp of the target clientele.

No wonder Xiang Weinan was reluctant to let him go.

Shu Yu didn’t mention the treatment; Manager Yun’s wages at the Xiang Family were certainly not low. Later, she must ask Xiang Weinan, as she couldn’t mistreat a talent dug from elsewhere.

Seeing that things were about to wrap up, Xiang Weinan got up and said, ”Although the person will return to you, he has to clarify the follow-ups of our business before that.”

Then he looked at Yun Qide, ”I’ll give you half a month; find a suitable shopkeeper and train them well. Don’t ruin my business.”

”Boss Xiang, I actually already have someone in mind.”

Xiang Weinan chuckled; he was more convinced Yun Qide had long wanted to jump ship.

Indifferently, he still took Yun Qide back, having him find a replacement shopkeeper, whom he would personally teach and test, ensuring qualification before letting him go.

Watching the two hurriedly leave, Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance, and resumed eating.

However, with the shopkeeper’s matter resolved, Shu Yu was relieved. Staff could be selected leisurely, keeping whoever was suitable.
