The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Therefore, Manager Fang glanced around, walked over to Shu Yu, and whispered, ”County Lord Lu, we’ve almost sold out of our shop’s stock. By tomorrow morning, I can bring two staff members to tidy up both inside and outside so it can be handed over to you.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”No rush, we agreed to do the inspection tomorrow afternoon. I happened to be passing by Futai Street today, so I came over to take a look.”

Manager Fang let out a breath and his smile deepened, ”Then feel free to browse, County Lord Lu. If you fancy anything, just let me know.”

”Alright.”

Manager Fang went back to his work, as the shop was indeed busy with customers today.

Ying Xi watched him attending to the customers and pondered for a moment before saying, ”Miss, this Manager Fang seems a little different from the last time we saw him.”

”How is he different?”

”It seems... he’s more relaxed and at ease now?”

She wasn’t sure if her feeling was accurate.

However, Shu Yu felt the same. She thought, Manager Fang clearly is not suited to be a shopkeeper. He’s the type who prefers others to make the decisions so he can execute them.

Just a few days ago, when he was still the shopkeeper, he was tense and worried. Now that he knows he doesn’t have to be one anymore, he seems full of energy.

Shu Yu smiled and took Ying Xi for a stroll around the shop.

Just as Manager Fang said, there wasn’t much inventory left in the shop, indicating good business over the past few days.

She and Ying Xi wandered around for a bit and saw several groups of customers paying for and buying a lot of makeup products.

Moreover, because of the big sale, even ordinary folks could afford to buy. Even without the higher-class ladies and madams, the shop wasn’t lacking customers.

With so many people downstairs, Shu Yu decided to go upstairs.

Although there weren’t many people on the second floor, every private room had clients.

There were also a few young girls waiting in the flower hall outside, selecting makeup boxes from the counter as they waited.

After seeing enough, Shu Yu was ready to leave.

However, just as she turned to go downstairs, she suddenly heard her name.

”This shop, I’ve heard that Wen’an County Lord bought it.”

Shu Yu paused her steps and looked at the two young women who were speaking.

The two girls had their backs to her, sitting in a corner of the flower hall. Although it wasn’t a private room, there were bead curtains dividing the space into several areas.

The two girls were chatting while having tea, seemingly unconcerned if their words were overheard.

After all, in the eyes of these noble ladies from the capital, even though Shu Yu was a county magistrate, she was from a small place and they didn’t think there was anything worth avoiding or hiding.

”It’s quite amusing when you think about it. Young Madam Zhou’s shop was actually sold to Wen’an County Lord. And Wen’an County Lord was once the fiancée of the Eldest Young Master of the Gong Family. Such a complicated relationship...” The girl speaking laughed quietly, ”It’s really quite intricate.”

”No way, Cen Yi’s shop was sold to Meng Yunzheng’s fiancée? Wu Ling, are you teasing me?” The other girl seemed surprised, as if this was the first time she was hearing about it.

”Why would I tease you? Everyone’s talking about it. You know, the second daughter-in-law of the Wang Family never got along with Cen Yi and was always watching her. According to her, this happened just a few days ago. Apparently, the Wen’an County Lord wanted to open a shop in the capital and noticed this cosmetic shop on Futai Street, so she approached the boss, and wasn’t it convenient that the boss turned out to be Cen Yi.”

”The Wen’an County Lord wants to open a shop in the capital? What kind of shop does she intend to open here?”
