The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Zhao Xi looked at the sky and wondered, was it really late?

But seeing Shu Yu starting to pack things up, he quickly took a couple of hurried bites from his bowl.

Then the group escorted Meng Yunzheng to the Examination Hall, leaving Little Huohuo asleep, so Shuyou stayed behind.

Originally thinking it was quite early, they didn’t expect that before reaching the Examination Hall, the street was already crowded with people everywhere.

Shu Yu was a bit shocked, ”Did they arrive before dawn?”

At this moment, Zhao Xi felt a bit guilty, as he also thought it was still early.

The carriage was stopped outside, so everyone had to walk inside.

As they neared the entrance of the Examination Hall, Xun Sheng, who had arrived early, waved and shouted, ”Meng Yunzheng, over here.”

As soon as the voice fell, Shu Yu suddenly felt an unavoidable gaze from the left side.

She instinctively turned her head and met a pair of inquisitive eyes.

The other party was a young woman, looking noble. When she saw Shu Yu looking over, she immediately turned her head, pretending to have just glanced casually.

Shu Yu wanted to take another look at her, but Meng Yunzheng was pulled aside by Xun Sheng, so she could only follow.

The group found a slightly more spacious corner. Ying Xi exhaled long, ”There are too many people.”

After all, it’s the triennial provincial exam, not to mention the number of candidates, but also their relatives, onlookers, and the soldiers maintaining order.

Luckily, they came quite early. If they had been any later, they might not have even gotten inside.

Shu Yu checked Meng Yunzheng’s exam basket again to ensure everything was in order before saying, ”The weather is still very cold right now. Keep yourself warm. This session lasts three days, with three sessions in nine days. You’ll be cramped in such a small examination booth; it won’t be easy.”

Meng Yunzheng laughed at her words, ”Don’t worry, I can handle this bit of hardship.”

Compared to other frail scholars, Meng Yunzheng, who practices martial arts every day, has a warm body and isn’t really afraid of cold.

However, his long arms and legs do make it challenging to move in the examination booth.

Xun Sheng wanted to talk to Meng Yunzheng, but seeing that he wasn’t interested and only wanted to stay close to his fiancée, he turned gloomy.

Acting as if nobody else had a fiancée.

Xun Sheng was also engaged, and he was actually a bit older than Meng Yunzheng.

If he hadn’t been undecided initially, and if his family hadn’t wanted him to achieve more before settling down, he might have had several children by now.

When he became a Scholar, many came to propose, especially since he ranked third. But during his stay in Changjin Prefecture, he got entangled with Chen Qiu.

Xun Sheng had considered marrying Chen Qiu, as he didn’t care much about family status.

However, Chen Qiu wasn’t good for him. The Xun Family realized this and quickly arranged his engagement upon his return home.

Last year, both he and Meng Yunzheng participated in the local examination and became scholars.

However, Meng Yunzheng was the Top Scorer, while Xun Sheng ranked in the thirties.

Xun Sheng was quite satisfied with this, as local exams were difficult and highly competitive. The pressure was immense with so many Scholars retaking the exam.

For this Imperial Examination, Xun Sheng thought of trying again in three years, but seeing Meng Yunzheng participating, he decided to give it a go.
