The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Others also asked, ”What background does this Lady Lu have? She seems very wealthy.”

”Yeah, she spent three taels of silver just to buy a piece of clothing. She must have a substantial family fortune.”

”Old sister-in-law, what exactly does Gouwa’s cousin do?”

What does he do?

Aunt Hong was stunned for a moment. She slapped her forehead, ”I forgot to ask.”

Everyone, ”...” So after all that talking, you still don’t know their background?

But not knowing didn’t stop a few kids from running into Aunt Hong’s room to rummage through those gift boxes.

Soon a child shouted, ”Wow, pastries, candied fruit, melon seeds, so many delicious things. And fabric...”

Aunt Hong immediately went into the room. She couldn’t keep the pastries and candied fruit, but she quickly put away the fabric and that cotton-padded jacket.

Ms. Yu and the others were quite envious of that cotton-padded jacket, after all, it was worth three taels of silver. However, Aunt Hong was small in stature, and none of them could actually wear it.

So they set their sights on that piece of fabric, but before they could speak, Aunt Hong said, ”I’m keeping this fabric to make clothes for Gouwa. We agreed to try it on him the next time we meet.”

Upon hearing this, Ms. Yu and others, despite their craving, couldn’t say much more. Besides, focusing solely on one piece of fabric, there was no way to divide it.

What they were more curious about now was whether, when Gouwa came to see Aunt Hong, the other party left him some money?

With their different thoughts, the Hong family members watched as Shu Yu and the others had already gone home.

At home, only Xia Yan was there. Zhao Xi Shiuyou had taken their son out shopping and to buy some things since they were going to the Yao Family tomorrow.

Compared to Shu Yu, during their time in the southwest, Shuyou was actually more familiar with the Yao Family, as they both lived in the county town and had frequent interactions.

Having come all the way to the capital, a visit was naturally in order.

Even Meng Yunzheng hadn’t returned yet, leaving the house feeling quite empty.

Shu Yu simply entered the room and began pondering over the shop opening plans.

She had thoroughly explored the streets of the capital three years ago, but they were clearly different now from three years ago. Accompanying Little Song Le to buy a cotton-padded jacket in the morning, they had taken a circle around the nearby area.

There just wasn’t a suitable location or storefront.

She drew a rough map of the capital while remembering what Yun had once told her about the movement of people in the capital.

If she wanted to open a shop, the best location would be at the junction of the west and south of the city, where one side was the residence of high officials and nobles and the other was the common people. Whether selling melon seeds or sunflower oil, there would be a suitable clientele.

Shu Yu sat writing and drawing on the paper for the better part of the afternoon.

It wasn’t until Meng Yunzheng’s voice sounded outside that she was jolted back to reality, looking up to see him leaning against the door frame watching her.

”Back already, how did it go?”

Meng Yunzheng walked into the room, sat opposite her, and glanced at the messy drawings on the table while he responded, ”The Emperor has already sent people to investigate in the southwest.”

Shu Yu put down the pen, ”Do you think the possibility of the last black market being in the southwest is large?”

Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”Very large. During this time, Qi Lie has been searching northward, but hasn’t found any clues. Your letter is a breakthrough.”

”Why were they searching northward?”

Meng Yunzheng replied, ”One reason is because of Jiang Kuanyu and Deputy Head Escort Lin. Both of them disappeared using the same false death method. Moreover, their families said they wanted to leave the sorrowful place and returned to their northern hometowns.”
