Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 541: Chapter 331: Useless Dad

Because she went to bed early, Xiaomi also got up early the next day. She happened to catch the others just as they were preparing to leave. Xiaomi yawned and waved goodbye to them, then went to the kitchen to find something to eat.

”Why are you up so early today? Just in time to eat while it’s hot. I made your favorite chive dumplings and some soy milk today.”

Second Aunt brought the food over to Xiaomi. The soy milk was made by soaking the beans the previous night and grinding and boiling them fresh in the morning.

The dumplings had an egg and chive filling, so there was no need to cook eggs separately.

Xiaomi drank half a bowl of soy milk in one gulp. The rich bean aroma was simply wonderful.

”Mom, since it’s spring and we’re not hunting, I’ll go with Xiaocao to pull some pig fodder and maybe gather some tasty wild herbs.”

She was craving pigweed shoots. Last year, she scattered a lot of seeds and buried many old roots on the mountain, so they should have sprouted by now.

”Go ahead. Xiaocao’s mother pig just gave birth, so she probably needs to go find wild pig fodder too these days.”

”Really? You didn’t mention that yesterday.” Xiaomi’s eyes lit up, and she quickly asked, ”When will our mother pig give birth?”

She had been wanting to sneak two piglets to raise in the space all year.

She had seen Xiaocao’s piglets last year, but since they belonged to someone else, she felt embarrassed to take them.

Moreover, taking your own things is one thing, but stealing from others is another matter entirely.

Second Aunt didn’t know Xiaomi’s thoughts: ”Soon, probably in about a month.”

Seeing Xiaomi nod happily, she thought Xiaomi was also pleased that their family’s pigs could breed on their own now.

To be honest, when they had fewer pigs before, it wasn’t a big deal. But last year, after buying dozens of piglets at once, they finally realized the investment was significant.

If they raised a few mother pigs themselves, it would indeed save a lot.

Second Aunt quickly busied herself with her tasks. After Xiaomi finished eating and washing the dishes, she carried her basket and sickle and went out.

She hadn’t gone far when she saw Xiaocao equipped in the same way coming to find her.

Moreover, Xiaocao was wearing the hairpin Xiaomi had given her yesterday—a blue orchid pin.

Blue orchid is also called blue orchid grass.

So Xiaomi thought they were indeed very in sync.

The two girls met, noticed the hairpins on each other’s heads, exchanged smiles, and without saying much, set off together to gather pig fodder.

On the other side, Zhang Yuan had also set out before dawn, and when the others arrived, he had brought his brother-in-law and wife over.

When Zhang Yuan introduced them, Second Aunt glanced at them several times.

Perhaps it was the conversation from last night that gave her a preconceived notion that Xiaocao’s uncle seemed a bit timid and unassertive.

Even now, he was hunching over, looking like he wanted to hide.

Come to think of it, Yang Cheng did resemble Xiaocao’s mother a bit, but compared to her straightforwardness, he was not nearly as decisive. ℯℯ𝑙.

In contrast, his wife, Xiaocao’s aunt, seemed bolder.

But that’s only in comparison to her husband.

She was probably accustomed to being bullied at her in-laws’ house, so compared to most wives, she was a bit more reticent. But when Zhang Yuan introduced Second Aunt and the others, her eyes lit up.

After Zhang Yuan finished talking, almost everyone else had arrived, except for Yang Cheng and his wife, whom they were meeting for the first time.

Jiang Hu looked at Yang Cheng’s wife: ”Aunt, Zhang Yuan must have told you, you’re here for long-term work. During this period, you’ll live in our front yard. We also have other aunts here with you.”

Then, Second Aunt stepped forward and took Yang Cheng’s wife’s hand.

”Let me take you to tidy up first, and then I’ll show you the pigsty. Xiaocao’s mom said you were good at raising pigs back home, so you’ll likely get the hang of it quickly.”

Yang Cheng’s wife didn’t speak, but she nodded vigorously, suddenly looking full of energy.

Someone nearby joked, ”Sister-in-law, do you need more help with pig farming? My wife is good with pigs too.”

Working as a long-term worker at the Jiang family came with great benefits.

Everyone had heard of the previous long-term workers, and it was said that they looked much livelier than when they first arrived at the Jiang family.

This was all while working daily. It was said that the Jiang family’s food was delicious, even the coarse grains were tastier than elsewhere.

”We do need one more person, but it’s not like just looking after a couple of pigs like at home. As you all saw, the pigsty is huge, filled with at least a hundred pigs, which is no easy task.”
