Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 517: Chapter 219: Casual Chat

Moved the items to the storeroom and then packed the yearly gifts for the Liu family, which were mostly agricultural products, to be taken back by the carriage.

Well, the value is definitely not equivalent, but Jiang Hu fished out a big turtle from the courtyard pond, which makes up for it in weight.

After all, aside from what their own family raises and grows, the things they can buy outside the Liu family totally lacks, buying them from outside would seem worthless to the Liu family.

So Jiang Hu’s second aunt never even considered it, she just packed up the family’s chickens, ducks, geese, fish, rabbits, pheasants, and bamboo rats, as well as various vegetables and eggs, filling two large carts to the brim.

Oh, and Jiang Hu also drove in a pig, not a big one, just about two hundred pounds of pork; they slaughtered a pig a few days ago to make preserved meat and also bought several others, this one was reserved specifically for the Liu family.

The annual gifts from the Jiang family, even if sold all, would estimate only one or two hundred taels of silver, which truly pales in comparison to the few carts the Liu family pulled in.

However, the items from the Jiang family are valuable in their rarity, deliciousness; if it weren’t for the relationship between the two families, it wouldn’t be possible to buy so much during the New Year, even if one wanted to.

After sending off the Liu family’s carriage, Jiang Hu took out the letter the coachman specifically gave him, it contained some recipes and methods of seafood preservation.

”Seafood? Are these things brought from the seaside?”

Jiang Hu looked with surprise at these bizarre-looking things; some looked like bugs, some with many legs, and those fish were hardly seen before.

If these weren’t sent by the Liu family, Jiang Hu certainly wouldn’t have bought them!

However, the Liu family never sends anything that isn’t delicious, so after only a brief moment of curiosity, he promptly continued reading the letter in his hands.

The Xuyu Dynasty borders the sea; although the map hasn’t been seen by many, the existence of the sea is known or heard about by many.

But Cheng County is too far from the sea, so far that even if there were ice, fresh seafood transported here would have already gone bad or become inedible.

Dried fish, on the other hand, can be kept for a longer time, but transportation costs are high, and it’s usually only available in prosperous places like the provincial capital.

This year, Manager Wang spent a high price in the provincial capital to buy it, and then had someone send it over.

In other words, wanting to buy it in town is absolutely impossible, at least not now!

Each of these notes contained simple introductions, Jiang Hu also read them to others.

Apart from these, there were also simple ways to cook these items.

While listening to her father read the letter, Xiaomi was rummaging; apart from dried ocean fish, dried squid, finger-length dried shrimp, and dried scallops and fish glue, there were others.

These are all great stuff!

Xiaomi clicked her tongue; Aunt Qian is really generous, just these few seafood items might be worth more than the yearly gifts their family gave!

Actually, she has a fair amount of these things in her space, but the fresh seafood, she doesn’t dare to take out at all.

However, there’s also dried seafood, and since these have begun to emerge now, just wait a bit longer, wait till trade becomes more frequent, Cheng County also has these things, and she can bring them out.

No matter if it’s secretly selling them or pretending to have bought them, they’re all very good things.

The Xuyu Dynasty settled down less than a few years ago, occasionally there are reports of bandit outbreaks in certain regions, and trade hasn’t fully opened yet, so many things are still relatively rare.

But it doesn’t matter, take it slow, surely after a few more years, Cheng County will be able to buy a lot of new stuff.

After finishing the letter, Jiang Hu selected some from the dried seafood.

This grilled fish dry, grilled shrimp, and this dried squid, are all grilled and can be eaten directly.

Xiaomi stretched out her hand and directly broke off a piece of grilled fish dry, it was crunchy, especially crispy and fragrant in the mouth, without the fishy taste of fish, only a fresh crispy aroma!

Xiaomi’s eyes instantly lit up.

”It’s so delicious!”

Then she immediately picked up a piece of dried shrimp and squid strip.

These two are relatively chewy, the taste is also extremely good, the more you chew, the more fragrant it becomes!

Jiang Hu took some out directly, letting them eat by themselves, then took some, and went to find his second aunt.

Xiaomi shrugged, pretending not to know, then took the recipe aunt Qian had someone write and began to ponder.

Seaweed is not mentioned, dried scallops and dried fish are raw, the methods are also written on here.

Sea fish actually don’t have a fishy smell, whatever way they’re cooked, they’re delicious, and the recipes are quite simple.

Also, there are untreated dried squids and the like.

Cooking them isn’t hard, it’s just that most need to be soaked beforehand, then they can be directly cooked.
