Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 516: Chapter 218: The Year 218 Ritual (Part 2)

Today, it was rare that Wei Ziang had some free time. Neither of them brought Little Grass along; for the past few months, Wei Ziang had been attending school, and Little Grass accompanied Xiao Mi up the mountain every day.

After winter set in, there were fewer wild rabbits and pheasants on the mountain, and even the occasional snakes were hibernating, making hunting not as easy as in the summer.

The two of them decided to go deeper into the mountains to see what was happening there.

Usually, they only stayed in the nearby mountains, catching small creatures was enough. However, after winter set in, even these small prey became scarce. Without going deeper, they feared there would be little to show for their efforts.

While passing by the mountaintop pond, Xiao Mi asked Wei Ziang to wait and then scattered a few handfuls of lotus seeds by the pond.

”Why did you bring these along?”

”Well, I saw this empty pond and thought it would be a waste not to plant something.”

The lotus seeds were sent from Fu’an Village a while ago, brought by Aunt Qian along with several silver notes, which were the earnings from the year’s harvest sales.

After they moved, the people who were familiar with the Jiang family were dispatched elsewhere, and the new manager assigned to communicate with Fu’an Village didn’t know about the affairs of Xiangmu Village at all.

Yes, of course, the current manager interacting with the Jiang family doesn’t know about Fu’an Village, let alone anything like ’Little Lucky Star.’

Wei Ziang assumed that the lotus seeds Xiao Mi scattered were from Fu’an Village, so he wasn’t surprised. After Xiao Mi finished, he made a mark and continued going deeper instead of searching around the area for prey.

”By the way, little brother, how’s your speed training going?”

He reached out to pull aside the branches in front of him, not forgetting to inquire about another important matter.

”Very smoothly, but each time my Spiritual Power is exhausted, it takes a day or two to recover, so it’s quite slow.”

Xiao Mi nodded in understanding. In this world, there is some Spiritual Energy, but it is very scarce. Most of the time, the consumed Spiritual Energy needs to be replenished from the space or from food irrigated by the Spiritual Spring.

”And how about your studies? After the new year, can you still come to the mountains in the afternoon like before?”

If so, you could continue entering the space, and your Spiritual Energy would grow rapidly.

Thinking of this, Xiao Mi suddenly remembered something. Didn’t she secretly enter the space from around the pond before?

She couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Wei Ziang, fearing he might notice something and start asking about the location or other details.

Luckily, what Xiao Mi feared didn’t happen. Wei Ziang didn’t even glance around; he was seriously looking at the road.

”It shouldn’t be a problem. Unlike Brother Yu and the others, I don’t have such talent. The tutor doesn’t have high expectations of me. As long as I don’t fall behind in my studies, I can have half a day off.”

Xiao Mi laughed, ”What talent? It’s just that you’re not interested in it, unlike the big brother who’s deeply into it.”

She remembered that Wei Ziang mentioned once that he aspired to the battlefield, and the books he read were different from those his big brother liked.

Thinking of this, Xiao Mi suddenly recalled something.

She almost forgot that the space contained not only books on planting and breeding but many other kinds of books!

It seems she should take some time to go to the city and buy more Xuan paper.

Setting out full of spirit, determined to bring home more prey, they returned empty-handed after half the day, with only a few pheasants!

Xiao Mi was utterly surprised.

Wasn’t there supposed to be wild boars in the mountains during winter? After all that excitement, she didn’t find any?

It was only after Wei Ziang comforted her for a long time that Xiao Mi accepted the fact that hunting in winter was indeed difficult.

The Jiang family never lacked pheasants or wild rabbits, but other families still liked them. These few were sold directly to a few households in the village, and the money went entirely to Xiao Mi and Wei Ziang.

After all, they were the ones who caught the prey.

Since hunting in winter proved inconvenient, Xiao Mi decided not to bother with it and instead dragged Wei Ziang up the mountain directly.

With the blindfold on, they entered the space to continue training!

Slow progress was fine, scarce Spiritual Energy was fine too; this was serious martial arts mysticism, not just everyday physical exercises.

As the days passed, soon it was three days before the Lunar New Year, and several carriages arrived directly at Xiangmu Village.

This damn familiar feeling.

Sure enough, it was sent by the Liu family, various foodstuffs and items, especially different types of cloth, almost enough to cover all the clothes the Jiang family would wear the coming year!

It wasn’t expensive silk, just fine cotton, and in all kinds of colors, not only beautiful but also very suitable!

After all, the Jiang family mainly worked in agriculture, moving around the fields, they really didn’t have the opportunity to wear fancy clothes.

The pretty cotton cloth was more practical.

Besides the cotton cloth, there was coarse cloth too, almost enough for everyone to make several sets of work clothes.

Such a large amount of coarse cloth clearly wasn’t just for the Jiang family.

Without asking, it was prepared for the others too.

Besides the Jiang family, they had other people with them too, like Aunt Yang and Qixi, who had been with the Jiang family for years.

The two treated it completely as their own home, working diligently every day, without needing Aunt Jiang to remind them, they would take care of many things themselves.

So, the Jiang family never treated them as mere servants of the Liu family, but like family, sharing the same meals as everyone else.

Furthermore, when Aunt Jiang made clothes for the family, she would also make a set for the two of them, and they didn’t need to make clothes themselves all year round.

The Liu family clearly knew Aunt Jiang’s habits, so they specially sent a lot of coarse cloth.

Aside from these, there were various snacks and pastries, especially a large bag of Xiao Mi’s favorite beef jerky!

Additionally, there were many rare meat varieties from other places, like dried sea fish, shrimp, and squid...

In summary, this year’s New Year, the Jiang family didn’t need to buy anything.
