Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 535: Chapter 328: Hiring Help

After eating, Erniang quickly tidied up the kitchen and went to find Xiaocao’s mother, accompanied by Jiang Hu, who also happened to be looking for Zhang Yuan.

At Zhang Yuan’s house, they had just finished eating as well. Xiaocao and her sister were washing dishes and sweeping the floor, while Zhang Yuan was getting ready to leave with a hoe on his shoulder. He was surprised to see Jiang Hu and Erniang coming over together.

”Brother Jiang? It’s rare to see both of you coming over together. Is there something you need from us?”

Jiang Hu nodded, ”Actually, yes. I’m planning to build a new duck shed and need a few people to help. Erniang is here to talk to your wife about raising pigs.”

”Oh, I see. The children’s mother is at the pigsty right now because the sow is giving birth, and she’s been watching over it. Why don’t you go find her, sister-in-law?”

Erniang was delighted to hear this. ”Really? Then I must go check it out. Our sow is due soon too.”

With that, she hurried off to Zhang Yuan’s pigsty to learn some tips.

She had been there a few times before to see the sows and piglets Xiaocao’s mother raised, so she knew where their pigsty was located.

After taking a few steps, she turned around and handed a cloth package to Jiang Hu amidst Zhang Yuan’s puzzled gaze. ”This is something Xiaomi bought for Xiaocao. Can you pass it on to her?”

Xiaocao is considered Xiaomi’s only good friend in Xiangmu Village, so while wandering at the lantern festival in the city yesterday, Xiaomi specially bought a gift for Xiaocao.

Actually, Zhang Yuan’s family had gone to the festival yesterday too. It wasn’t just them; almost half of Xiangmu Village was there.

With such proximity, who would want to miss the annual lantern festival?

It’s just that there were too many people yesterday, and since it was nighttime, everyone didn’t meet up.

Zhang Yuan was quite amused and invited Jiang Hu to sit inside. Just then, Xiaocao heard there were guests and brought over two bowls of hot water, so Jiang Hu took the chance to hand her the cloth package.

”Xiaomi sent this for you. See if you like it.”

”Xiaomi?” Xiaocao took it with delight, then suddenly turned and ran off.

”Hey!” Zhang Yuan quickly tried to stop her, but Xiaocao ran too fast, and it was too late to catch her. He could only frown and say disapprovingly, ”This child, so impolite!”

Jiang Hu waved his hand, ”Kids will be kids, it’s fine. Let’s talk about building the duck shed instead.”

Although Zhang Yuan was unhappy with his daughter’s impolite behavior, since she had already run off, it wasn’t proper to catch her back. So, he focused on discussing business with Jiang Hu.

”Speaking of which, I’ve heard Xiaocao mention it before. It was probably Xiaomi who told her about it. Brother Jiang, you plan...” 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

”Uncle Jiang, I also bought a gift for Xiaomi. Could you please take it to her for me?”

It was Xiaocao who had just run off, now dashing back just as quickly. Her face was flushed from the few steps back, and she held a small cloth package in her hand.

”Is this for Xiaomi?” Jiang Hu was a bit surprised.

He truly hadn’t expected it.

”Yes, yes, Xiaomi taught me how to hunt, so I used some of the pocket money I got from selling the game with Dad to buy it.”

Strictly speaking, Zhang Yuan’s family was relatively well off in Xiangmu Village, and the couple wasn’t dissatisfied because their first two children were daughters.

Overall, Zhang Yuan’s family was well-off and didn’t have a serious preference for sons over daughters. Otherwise, Xiaocao wouldn’t have had the opportunity to learn hunting from Xiaomi, let alone Zhang Yuan would spend money to make her a bow and arrow set.

So, after Xiaocao learned to hunt, besides some game eaten at home, they sold a few, and although it wasn’t much, Zhang Yuan still gave Xiaocao some of the money from selling the game as pocket money.

After all, it was her own skills that earned it.

Just like Xiaocao’s sister, who helps their mother take care of piglets every day, after each litter of piglets is sold, their mother would give her some extra as a reward for the hard work.

And the gift Xiaocao prepared for Xiaomi today was bought with the money she saved from hunting, specifically for Xiaomi!

After the brief surprise, Jiang Hu smiled and tucked the gift into his coat: ”Then let me thank you on Xiaomi’s behalf.”

Xiaocao was very happy too. ”No need to thank me. I know Xiaomi has been really busy lately. I’ll go find her to play tomorrow.”

With that, she cheerfully hopped away.

Only then did Zhang Yuan realize and gave a helpless smile, ”I didn’t even know when she bought it.”

Jiang Hu said, ”Kids will be kids. I don’t know when Xiaomi bought the gift or what she bought either.”

If not for Erniang suddenly pulling it out just now, he wouldn’t have known that Xiaomi bought something for Xiaocao.

Zhang Yuan nodded, ”But these two kids are truly in sync, buying gifts for each other simultaneously.”
