Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 511: Chapter 316: Busy

The fish pond site isn’t far, just a bit in front of the pigsty, with the terrain slightly elevated.

The Jiang family is located at the edge of Xiangmu Village, apart from being next to Liu Qingfeng’s family, there are no other households around.

Most of the other villagers live deeper in the village, and the fields are also mainly concentrated in the middle of the village.

There are also some wealthy family farms, which weren’t so obvious before, but after living here a while, it became clear that these farms are quite concentrated, spread over large areas.

And those working for the farms are mostly grouped together, usually not interacting much with the ordinary villagers except for tending to the crops and the chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs of the masters.

Back to the main story, because other people’s fields almost take up all the space within the village, the Jiang family naturally can only expand outward if they want to develop.

Conveniently, they live on the outskirts where there is also a lot of wasteland outside the village, and out of the ten acres of wasteland the Jiang family previously purchased, much of it still remains unused.

With a few days left before harvesting rice, Jiang Hu rounded up the area where the pond needed to be dug, followed by clearing the weeds and thorns from the ground.

Those working for the Jiang family don’t worry about wages, and since it’s close to home too, those who benefited from the pigsty construction before are more than enthusiastic again this time. Jiang Hu went around and almost no one refused.

Every day, the older siblings continue to go to school in town as usual, while after the start of autumn, Xiao Mi stays home in the morning, watering the animals and practicing her speed at home.

She also mentioned it to Wei Ziang, without bringing up Ling’er’s reminder, only saying she noticed it herself by accident, even bumping into the table.

This was half true, half false, and Wei Ziang didn’t suspect anything, only saying that he’d practice a bit himself when he has the chance.

Xiao Mi’s main goal was to catch a goat alive, so she practiced diligently.

During this time, Xiao Bai was healing at home, being placed into space by Xiao Mi at night, and then released first thing in the morning.

The only thing that left Xiao Mi speechless was probably Xiao Mi the cat.

On the first day, Xiao Mi seemed to have remembered the time she released Xiao Bai.

After that, almost every morning at the designated time, Xiao Mi would find her way to her room and meow persistently by her bedside!

Even if she closed her doors and windows at night, Xiao Mi would always find a way in!

At first, Xiao Mi didn’t understand what was going on, waking up to Xiao Mi’s fuss, trying to coax her, but realizing it was futile as Xiao Mi paced around the bedhead incessantly. Suddenly, the idea struck Xiao Mi to release Xiao Bai.

Soon after, Xiao Mi would go straight to find Xiao Bai for a nap.

From that day onwards, upon hearing Xiao Mi’s calls in the morning, Xiao Mi would release Xiao Bai from space immediately with her eyes still closed.

Otherwise, Xiao Mi would surely keep calling until she brought Xiao Bai out!

Thankfully, Xiao Mi and Xiao Bai couldn’t talk, so the secret of the space wouldn’t be leaked.

Since the last heavy rain, the weather has remained extraordinarily sunny, with a clear blue sky and bright sunlight every day.

The rice in the fields, being propped up in time, didn’t suffer any loss and returned to its original state by the next day, not showing any signs of having been battered by rain.

The rice grains turned yellow day by day, with some of the earlier planted ones, which enjoyed plenty of sunlight, already ready for harvesting.

The task of digging the fish pond was temporarily halted, prioritizing the busy harvest season.

The few families with close ties traded tasks, helping each other out—you help harvest my fields today, and tomorrow I’ll help with yours.

Jiang Hu helped too, but left the second sister at home because there was plenty to do there as well.

The Jiang family’s rice could wait a day or two. Once it all turned fully yellow, they could gather a few more people and harvest everything in a day.

Outside the Jiang house, there was a platform paved with blue stone slabs, mostly used for parking carriages, but it also served as an excellent drying ground during the busy farming season.

The school in Cheng County, unlike in town, didn’t grant students a break, so Jiang Yu and the others simply took leave to come back and help out.

Although Jiang Hu wasn’t entirely on board with this, he didn’t say much, rather instructing them to change into coarse work clothes and follow him to the fields.

Liu Qingfeng originally had no plans, but seeing his younger brothers all full of energy and enthusiasm, he decided to send a letter to his school for a day’s leave.

Quite pitiable for the distinguished young master, who probably had never set foot in a field since birth, and now his first experience was harvesting rice.

Holding a sickle, learning his brothers’ movements, he put forth effort... effort... effort!
