Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 538: Chapter 329: Zhang Yuan’s Thoughts (Part 2)

Little Grass’s mother asked again, ”What will you do about living arrangements when more people come later? It’s fine with just a few aunties for now, but you’ll probably need to hire quite a few men for the field work later.”

The Jiang family has many girls, and those people can’t live in the Jiang family’s home.

”Oh, you mean this?” Second Aunt smiled, ”Don’t worry, we’ve thought about this long ago.”

This indeed was discussed a long time ago.

”Since we’re only looking for a few aunties temporarily, they can stay at home. When more people come later, we’ll plan to build one or two dedicated courtyards where everyone can live.”

This is their current plan, but as for the specifics, they’ll see when the time comes. It’s not urgent right now.

Little Grass’s mother couldn’t help but feel envious, ”Your family has developed so quickly. It’s only been a year; I remember last year when you first moved, you only had a few chickens and ducks, but now there are 100 to 200 of them.”

Not to mention other things, every now and then, people go over to collect manure, and sometimes they even help clean the chicken coop because the Jiang couple said they could take the chicken manure. People would do some work while they’re at it.

So whatever the Jiang family is raising, the village pretty much knows.

When the Jiang family first moved in, it seemed like they just moved into a relatively luxurious courtyard and didn’t have anything else.

No one expected that in just a year, the Jiang family business expanded more than double.

Not to mention the pigsty, duck shed, and fish pond, now they’ve even raised a few goats, which you can’t even buy with money sometimes.

Second Aunt just smiled and didn’t say much more, then started asking about the piglets.

Sure enough, as soon as the topic of piglets came up, Little Grass’s mother immediately started chatting away, speaking in detail without holding back.

By the time Second Aunt left Little Grass’s family, it was two hours later. Little Grass’s family’s sow gave birth today, a total of twelve piglets, even Little Grass’s mother found it incredible.

It was said this was the first time in her more than ten years of raising pigs that she encountered a sow giving birth to so many piglets!

Second Aunt returned home and heard that Xiaomi and Wei Ziang went up the mountain again. She wasn’t surprised and just put the gift prepared by Little Grass into the room.

”This kid, knowing Ziang has to study, still drags him up the mountain every day. No wonder Little Grass said she’ll come to play tomorrow.”

It’s evidently because she knows Wei Ziang is going to school tomorrow, and once Wei Ziang goes to school, it’ll be months before he can accompany Xiaomi to the mountain, so she deliberately chose a different time to find Xiaomi.

Second Aunt shook her head helplessly, completely unaware that even when Wei Ziang is at school, he used to take half-day leave to meet Xiaomi on the mountain every afternoon.

It happened before and surely will happen again, especially now that the two learned to use Spiritual Energy to speed up running; sneaking off for dates will be incredibly convenient.

Seeing the kids busy with their own things, Second Aunt made a round and went outside, just in time to see Aunt Yang by the pigsty, so she went over to help.

”Aunt Yang, why haven’t I seen Uncle Liu?” When she returned, she didn’t see him by the village pond either, fishing.

”The old man wanted to take a walk in the village today, and Qixi went with him.”

”Is that so.” It must have been a coincidence that they missed each other.

Aunt Yang and Qixi said they’re here to look after Uncle Liu, but in fact, they didn’t shy away from helping with work, managing both inside and out very well.

However, when Uncle Liu wants to go out for a walk, one of them goes with him, after all, Uncle Liu isn’t young anymore, and extra care is needed in case he slips and falls.

Aunt Yang was feeding the pigs. There was an upper layer in the pigsty for stacking pig greens; no walls were built, just a surrounding barrier to prevent things from falling down. Normally, they could dry things like pig greens up there.

The pig greens dried before last fall almost filled the entire second level, and they still hadn’t finished eating it, cooked by mixing fresh and dry pig greens together.

All three pots were cooking pig feed, Aunt Liu was carrying water, cleaning the pigsty.

Except for a few sows having their own separated pigsty, each pigsty raised six or seven pigs, the size was just right, and they wouldn’t feel too cramped when they grew up.

Moreover, these piglets are domineering. Ones that grew up in the same pigsty generally wouldn’t have problems.

But if some of them were switched between pigsties halfway, it would surely lead to fighting!

Last year, they didn’t know this and a few pigsties only had five pigs, Second Aunt thought of combining them to clean fewer pigsties.

So she distributed the pigs from one pigsty into two others.

This immediately caused a problem; those new ones were bitten into bleeding messes by others within two days, scaring Second Aunt to quickly seek help from Little Grass’s mother.

Then she realized these pigs are exclusive too, and the ones from a pigsty will definitely bully the newcomers.

Little Grass’s mother suggested that, since their family didn’t plan to sell the piglets and wanted to raise them all themselves, they should put each litter of piglets into its own pigsty, raising them together to avoid such situations.

After lunch, when looking for Little Grass’s mother, Second Aunt changed out of her clothes and switched to her regular workwear.

She started the fire to feed pigs, and soon saw Xiaomi and Wei Ziang leading Xiaohei and others down from the mountain.

Second Aunt called out, and the two who were preparing to leave turned and came over, greeted Second Aunt, and went to help drive the ducks and geese back.

Xiaomi even found a duck egg in the fish pond!

They made a few rafts with bamboo, piled nests up top with straw and tethered them into the middle of the fish pond, with the other end tied to a stone onshore.

It seems this strategy works, having nests in the middle of the pond eliminates the problem of ducks laying eggs in the water.
