Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 537: Chapter 329: Zhang Yuan’s Thoughts

Although Liu Bo is not very familiar with the villagers, he only meets them occasionally while fishing and exchanges a few words.

But just by observing Liu Bo’s demeanor, you can tell he is not an ordinary person and definitely has some good ideas!

Jiang Hu quickly understood, both laughing and crying: ”So this was your plan all along.”

Zhang Yuan chuckled as he picked up the tea bowl: ”Drink some water, drink some water, I’ll take you to find some other people. There are two more in the neighboring village. Brother Jiang, you probably haven’t been there yet.”

Jiang Hu shook his head but didn’t say much. It was just the right time to listen to Liu Bo’s insights, and perhaps he could also gain some knowledge.

After Jiang Hu and Zhang Yuan drank the water, they set out to find some people. However, before leaving, Jiang Hu went to see Erniang and asked her to take back the gift Xiaocao gave to Xiaomi.

Erniang had also asked Xiaocao’s mother about her sister-in-law coming to work, and Xiaocao’s mother agreed right away, saying she would let her husband go home and call her tomorrow.

Her mother’s family is quite far, and since Zhang Yuan and Jiang Hu are going to find other people today, they couldn’t visit the family today. Tomorrow, they would just hitch a ride on an ox cart to bring the eldest brother and sister-in-law over, along with some clothes for changing.

The duck pen wouldn’t take days to build, but pig farming is a long-term affair. As long as the Jiang family keeps pigs, someone must always be there to take care of them.

Xiaocao’s mother took care of the sow giving birth, Erniang squatted nearby watching, and Xiaocao’s sister was also helping. Erniang couldn’t help but feel emotional watching the mother and daughter’s familiar actions.

”With Xiaohua’s skill, whoever marries her will be blessed. You see, just a few sows you had this year have earned quite a bit of money.”

Xiaohua is Xiaocao’s elder sister. The sisters are named Zhang Xiaohua and Zhang Xiaocao. People in the village like choosing simple and easily remembered names.

Just like Xiaomi and Xiaoxue, even Xiaocao’s younger brother has a similar name, Xiao Shi, meaning ”Stone”.

Zhang Xiaohua’s face flushed red, as she is a young girl who recently started to understand what marriage is, making her a bit shy upon hearing this.

Xiaocao’s mother laughed heartily: ”Of course, my Xiaohua’s pig-raising skills are no worse than mine, and she’s especially meticulous. If she weren’t so young, I’d have already sent her to work for you for two years.”

Although she’s skilled at pig farming, she lacks the strength. With so many pigs at the Jiang’s, there is so much work to carry and lift, which is a bit much for Zhang Xiaohua.

Erniang smiled: ”Xiaohua still has to follow you, her mother, to learn the skills properly. The work at my place needs several strong women.”

Xiaocao’s mother nodded: ”Right, Erniang, if you hire several women helpers for pig farming, how are you arranging the accommodation? There are no empty houses left in the village.”

Even if there were, it wouldn’t be reassuring for several women to live alone.

Erniang nodded: ”I’ve thought about this too. We still have a few rooms in the front courtyard gatehouse. Our Aunt Yang always lives there, so those women helpers can stay there.”

”I’ll also set up a small kitchen in the front yard and prepare food for them to cook their own meals.”

With so many workers, naturally, not all can eat with us, and having meals together with unfamiliar people can be uncomfortable for everyone.

Moreover, Liu Bo also reminded them that workers have their standards, and if they are treated like family in everything, they might forget who is the worker and who is the family.

In essence, it’s the idea that giving too much can make people lose gratitude.

Erniang found this quite reasonable, so the wages and meals for the workers were prepared according to the standard of ordinary workers.

However, they would provide meat twice a month, sometimes buying pork, other times from a chicken or duck from their own farm.

While it might not seem like much, it’s actually very generous.

After all, during these times, if a worker can have a meat dish once a month, it is considered very good. Most of the time, it’s just coarse grains and pickled vegetables, as long as they don’t go hungry.

Xiaocao’s mother knew about the meals arranged for the workers by the Jiang family, and she laughed.

”It’s really good to work at your place. My sister-in-law from my family doesn’t even see a bit of oil in a month, I guess when my sister-in-law comes to work at your place, she won’t want to leave.”

Then Xiaocao’s mother shifted the conversation and mentioned another matter: ”But Erniang, have you considered that your family might have more and more workers in the future?”

Erniang was taken aback for a moment, then nodded: ”That’s likely.” ℯ

After all, the family is planning to continue buying land for farming. If they continue planting a lot of land, the current people won’t be able to manage it all.
