Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 239: Chapter 203: Three Years Later

Year after year, time flies, and another three years have passed. After Xiaomi had her six-year-old birthday noodles, her younger brother no longer allowed anyone to call him Iron Egg.

”Xiao Wei, hurry up and bring me a bucket!” Xiaomi shouted towards their house from the edge of the pond.

Jiang Wei, who was sitting under the big tree in front of the door reading a book, calmly closed the book, turned around to go home, and shortly after, came out with a wooden bucket.

Xiaomi was fishing by the pond. It was a crisp autumn day, the sun was quite strong, but hiding in the shade and with the occasional breeze, it wasn’t hot at all.

”Sis, we already have a lot of fish at home.” Jiang Wei stated the fact while scooping half a bucket of water from the pond.

He then lifted the fish basket that was half-submerged in the pond and poured it into the bucket. There were indeed quite a lot of fish, mostly crucian carp, followed by carp and herring.

”It’s just to pass the time, isn’t it? Second sister, is she embroidering again?”

As they spoke, the fish float made from a hollow wheat straw showed some activity. Quickly pulling it up, it was another palm-sized crucian carp.

Casually tossing it into the bucket, she said, ”Why are there so many crucian carp today? Xiao Wei, take them back and keep them in the stone tank for a few days so when big brother and Brother Ze come back, we can have grilled fish.”

These three years, Uncle Liu and Liu Ze have been living at Jiang’s house, only returning to the county town for the New Year.

However, this year, Uncle Liu suggested that big brother and Liu Ze go to study in the county. They set off two months ago, saying they’d take Jiang Yu to see the county first before making a final decision.

Judging by the time, they should indeed be back in a few days.

”Okay.” Jiang Wei obediently carried the bucket ashore, ”Second sister went to town last time and got some embroidery handkerchief work from the cloth store, two copper coins each, she’s busy with that right now.”

Xiaomi didn’t feel like fishing anymore. She packed up the bamboo rod, wound up the fishing line, and went home with the fish basket and the bamboo tube filled with earthworms.

The earthworms in the bamboo tube were specially raised by Xiaomi with Spiritual Spring water, and she buried a few cabbage leaves inside as well.

This is why she always had a bountiful catch when fishing.

Autumn had already set in, the sorghum and corn in the fields had been harvested, and the rice was nearly ripe.

Today, mom and dad were busy tidying up the sorghum and cornfields, and in a month or two, it would be time to plant rapeseed and wheat.

Three years and another three years, a full six years, were enough for Fu’an Village to grow and prosper, becoming the envy of the neighboring villages within a ten-mile radius.

There’s no need to talk about the past, especially in recent years, the grain harvests in Fu’an Village have been increasingly plentiful, and the Jiang family even received praise from the County Magistrate, delivering a plaque and silver personally from the Master of Agriculture!

Wheat yields reaching a thousand jin per mu, and rice yields over fifteen hundred jin per mu, along with corn, sorghum, rapeseed, peanuts, one thing after another has long left people astonished and numb!

Especially the sweet potatoes!

Every year after the wheat is harvested, it is the perfect season for planting sweet potatoes, which can enrich the soil after growing a crop of wheat, leaving the land relatively barren.

Before, nobody paid much attention to how sweet potatoes grew or their yield, as most were just fed to the pigs anyway.

However, once people discovered how big, sweet, and delicious sweet potatoes could be, with yields up to four or five thousand jin, they were instantly shocked!

The Master of Agriculture was the most affected, almost frenziedly buying up nearly all the sweet potatoes in the village!

If a family planted two mu of sweet potatoes, that would be eight or nine thousand jin; there were forty households in the village, and some families had more than two mu...

As for the ox carts that came to the village to transport sweet potatoes, they made trip after trip, running for several days!

But the next year, everyone discovered that these sweet potatoes were sold to villagers throughout the whole Cheng County, and after harvesting, they kept buying more; what happened after that, no one knew.

Surely it won’t be long before this high-yield sweet potato will spread throughout the Xuyu Dynasty, and by then, perhaps there will no longer be any cases of starvation, right?

However, those matters were too far from Fu’an Village, too far from the Jiang family.

Xiaomi quietly calculated the time in her heart; it was today!

”Xiao Wei, help me take these things back; I’m going up the mountain once!”

Just then, as they reached the main gate, Xiaomi casually placed the items in front of the door: ”Xiao Hei, Xiao Mi, let’s go up the mountain!”

’Woof woof~’

”Meow~”

A large and a small one, one black and one brown, came running out, chasing after Xiaomi up the mountain.

Forget about Xiao Hei, but even Xiao Mi was so obedient, completely overturning everyone’s understanding of cats.
