Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 205: Chapter 191: Picking Up Someone (3)

After feeding the child half a bowl of milk powder, Xiaomi went to the kitchen to boil hot water, preparing to wipe the dirt off the child’s body and apply some medicine to the wounds.

But when the clothes were removed, Xiaomi gasped sharply, her eyes brimming with tears.

”Who could be so cruel, to inflict such severe wounds on a child!”

The dirt on the body had obscured it before, but now that the clothes were off, she could see wounds from swords and knives everywhere, mostly on the back, as if it were some kind of cruel game.

The person ran ahead, swords and knives chased from behind.

The shoes were worn through, the feet were bloody, and some wounds had even turned black and begun to fester.

It took Xiaomi a while to calm down, taking a deep breath to regain her composure.

She brought over a box of anti-inflammatory medicine, felt his forehead, and indeed he had a fever, so she added a fever-reducing pill.

After performing a skin test to ensure there was no allergic reaction, she administered the medicine and then began to clean the dirt from his body.

Several basins of water were used before all the blackened, festering flesh was carefully scraped off with a blade by Xiaomi. Although it bled, it was better than letting the rot continue.

Perhaps due to the pain or fever, although the boy hadn’t woken, his breathing had subtly changed.

The wounds were disinfected with iodine and then bandaged with gauze, turning the once dirty and bloody child into something resembling a mummy.

After nearly an hour of work, Xiaomi felt his forehead again, not quite sure. She fetched a thermometer gun, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, the temperature was only 37.8 degrees, a mild fever, not too serious.

After all, he was from ancient times and hadn’t taken western medicine before; its effects were quite apparent.

After some thought, she fetched a thick wool blanket to cushion him. The wool was soft, which would be more comfortable considering all his wounds.

”Consider yourself lucky to have met me; given your current condition, even a divine doctor might be powerless.”

Xiaomi sighed softly, wondering whose child this could be, so pitiful.

With this in mind, Xiaomi moved all the modern things except for the milk powder out of the courtyard.

Thinking that iodine might be needed later, she found a small porcelain bottle, filled it with iodine, took some cotton balls, and placed them at the bedside.

After feeling the forehead again, not knowing why the child still hadn’t woken, estimating exhaustion, Xiaomi turned to head for the kitchen.

However, what Xiaomi failed to see was that the boy, thought to still be asleep, opened his eyes just as she turned away.

His eyes were clear, not at all like someone who had just woken up.

But in just a moment, he closed his eyes again, and his breathing became more stable.

This courtyard, though small, was well-equipped. Naturally, nothing was lacking in the kitchen. The firewood was mostly corn stalks and bean stems, which cooked slowly and required constant attention.

The porridge was boiled with refined rice, emitting a fragrant aroma. It came from the rice grown in the space, though it wasn’t the first batch and wasn’t grown in the garden, it was still much better than what was outside.

The first batch grown in the garden had been mixed into the communal seeds, and the rest was already hulled by Xiaomi, added bit by bit to her family rice jar for daily use.

”Smells so good.” Taking a deep breath, Xiaomi quickly served up the porridge, filling a large sea bowl, enough to feed the child for a day.

After all, she couldn’t stay in the space long, only having time to come occasionally during the day, so there wasn’t much time for cooking.

After some thought, she went to the storage room to grab a bit of pickled vegetables, learned stealthily from her mother, and made herself in the space.

Returning to the room with the porridge and pickles, she saw the child was already sitting up, looking dazedly around.

Seeing Xiaomi, his eyes lit up for a moment. ”Did you save me?”

Xiaomi placed the food on the table, serving a small bowl. ”Yes, you had a fever earlier, were talking nonsense, and I had quite a hard time getting your fever down.”

As for what the child had seen before, just treat it as a fever-induced hallucination.

If he asked, Xiaomi planned to muddle through it like this.

However, as Xiaomi brought over the bowl and pickles, the child tilted his head, curiously looking at her.

”Do you know me?”

Xiaomi was startled, thinking ’Could it be...?’ Carefully studying him, the child sat on the bed with the blanket covering his waist, his body wrapped in gauze.

At the moment, he was tilting his head, looking at her with confusion and curiosity, but without any probing gaze.

Xiaomi finally found it unbelievable and couldn’t help asking, ”Do you know who you are?”

However, the boy directly nodded. ”Wei Ziang.”

Xiaomi: ”...”

So he wasn’t amnesiac after all?

But the next second.

”But I only remember my name, nothing else.”
