Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 215: Chapter 195: Locust Plague

No matter the reason for their skepticism, the Jiang family, along with some villagers from Fu’an Village, harvested the sorghum that was still a few days away from ripening within one or two days and brought it home.

”Dad, why don’t we harvest ours too? Look, the Jiang family has done it. What if there really is a locust plague?”

In the field, a middle-aged man in his thirties, looking anxious, gazed at the old man still in the field, who was his father.

Next to him was his mother, who frowned upon hearing this: ”Why all this superstitious nonsense? We’ve been doing this for so long, and there aren’t even worms or ants in the field. Where would the locusts come from?”

The old man nodded, ”Exactly, don’t just believe any rumor as truth. If we wait a few more days, we can get an extra few dozen pounds of sorghum!”

The grain at home was running low. Although it was still enough to eat, it could only last for just over a month, so the grain in the field was especially crucial now.

It wasn’t just their family, but others were in the same situation too!

So, even though Jiang Hu had warned them and those unexpected guests in the village mentioned the locust plague, and even though Liu Ze and Jiang Yu found records of it in books, not many were willing to harvest early.

Droughts weren’t common, and those truly affected by droughts and locust plagues were mostly the poor and farmers.

However, among these people, almost none were literate, leaving no meaningful records.

Even the oral rumors passed down from generation to generation faded with time.

And the written records were known only to the literate, but most people who learned to read did so for the imperial examination and weren’t focused on other things, so not everyone could know.

So when Liu Ze and Jiang Yu accidentally found out that after the drought came the locust plague, Liu Bo was shocked, but not many in the village believed it.

”Dad, Mom, the Jiang family has harvested all their sorghum. If it’s not true, we only lose a few dozen pounds of sorghum, but what if it is true? Then we would have nothing!”

The middle-aged man was extremely anxious but didn’t dare to go against his parents, nor did he dare to start harvesting the sorghum himself, so he could only try to persuade earnestly.

Yet even so, his mother merely snorted coldly.

”You’ve been brainwashed by that boy Liu Yang. What’s this nonsense about Little Lucky Star? It’s just coincidence, and now they want to trick us into harvesting our sorghum early.”

The man was speechless: ”Mom, the Jiang family has no grievances with us, they don’t even interact with us much. What would they gain by deceiving us?”

If not for the virtue of filial piety, he would have started harvesting himself!

Of course, harvesting the sorghum.

The old man snorted, ”What do they gain? They’ve got several more mouths to feed now and must be out of grain. Who knows, maybe that kid Xiaomi is fainting from hunger, so they must harvest early.”

”Even if they harvested themselves, they still tricked us into doing the same. Doesn’t everyone know harvesting early reduces yield? Clearly, they’re afraid we have too much grain at home.”

The old man said this while touching his waist, only to remember he hadn’t been to town in months, and the tobacco leaves had long been smoked away.

The old aunt beside him also snorted coldly, very dissatisfied, and even cast a disdainful glance toward the village’s end, where the Jiang family was.

”What Little Lucky Star? If they truly were blessed, how could they become separated from their family? If you ask me, it’s more like a jinx. Otherwise, why would there suddenly be a drought?”

The middle-aged man was so anxious he scratched his hair, yet his parents were unmoved, even blaming the fact that young men in the village couldn’t find wives on this.

However, Xiaomi didn’t care what others said. After all, what she did was mainly to ensure that her family could establish a good foothold in Fu’an Village.

She only had a rough idea that her parents had brought the family to harvest the sorghum and even cut the sorghum stalks to feed the cattle and horses.

Her consciousness really couldn’t linger in the space for long.

But there was someone in the space, still a child, and she couldn’t just abandon them inside without care.

So at night, Xiaomi’s consciousness entered the space all night long, and she slept soundly during the day.

As it turns out, thanks to the excellent healing environment in the space, in just half a month, Wei Ziang’s wounds had almost healed.
