Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 213: Chapter 194: It’s March Now (Part 2)

But except for a damp trace at the base of the sorghum, the rest of the land was still dry and cracked.

Being held by his father, swaying like a cradle, Xiaomi felt sleepy again.

As the couple talked and walked toward the village, suddenly, they both fell silent.

Xiaomi immediately sensed something was wrong. Just as he lifted his head, he heard a voice coming from the side.

”Brother, let me ask, have you seen a little boy recently, about this tall, around four or five years old?”

Xiaomi’s spirit jolted; they’re looking for the little brother!

Only then did he see clearly: five men, dressed in strong outfits, knives at their waists, exuding a fierce aura.

Just at this moment, they were by the pond, where little water was left, but the muddy water had settled, leaving clear water on top.

The men were drawing water from the pond, each carrying several water bags, all bulging, likely just filled.

Perhaps it was the presence of the knives that was intimidating, Jiang Hu instinctively pulled his stepmother back two steps, then shook his head: ”Quite a few people have come to the village recently, but I haven’t seen any children.”

After all, the neighboring villages are quite a distance from Fu’an Village, so it’s unlikely they’d bring a child aged five or six along.

”Boss, what do we do if we can’t find him?” A man wiped his mouth and stood up from beside the pond.

The leader frowned slightly: ”Did you ask every household in the village?”

”Asked them all, none have seen him.” The others nodded.

The leader sighed deeply: ”Go search elsewhere, alive we must see him, dead we must find his corpse, we have to find him no matter what.”

Jiang Hu and the others couldn’t just leave, so they had to listen with uneasy anticipation.

Luckily, the men seemed not to harbor ill intentions. Once the leader finished speaking, he looked back at the couple.

”Your village is pretty lucky, considering the situation, to still have water. I heard there’s a pool in the mountains?”

Jiang Hu tightly squeezed his stepmother’s hand, his grip on Xiaomi’s arm also tightened.

”Yeah, but the water level has fallen sharply, making it tough to draw water.”

”I heard, it’s good to have water.” Seeing the couple’s fearful expressions, the man smiled: ”Don’t be nervous, we’re not bad people.”

Jiang Hu forced a few laughs, while his stepmother hid behind him, too frightened to appear.

Yet the man did not insist, called the other four, and left.

Before leaving, he said to Jiang Hu: ”We’ve visited many places, your village is the best; don’t worry, this drought will soon pass.”

After taking a few steps, he suddenly turned back, frightening the just relieved Jiang Hu, and gave him a jolt.

The man noticed, laughed aloud, then said: ”By the way, after the drought, there’s likely to be a locust plague; if your sorghum ripens, harvest early, so it’s not ruined by locusts.”

Jiang Hu was taken aback, nodded repeatedly: ”Got it.”

Afterward, the men quickened their pace, and Jiang Hu followed them from a distance, watching them leave Fu’an Village.

Indeed, they didn’t disturb the villagers, nor did they do anything bad, they didn’t even ask for a grain of food, at most, their aura was too intimidating.

The men didn’t pay attention to Xiaomi as a child, while Xiaomi discreetly observed them all along.

Those men had seen blood.

Or rather, souls lost under their knives.

She had survived for several years in the apocalypse in her past life; these things did not escape her eyes.

Moreover, seeing their agile postures, steady steps, they were likely from a military background.

What connection did they have with Wei Ziang?

Although Wei Ziang’s clothes were torn and filthy, she could still tell they were coarse cloth and burlap, his inner clothes cotton, though frayed from washing.

Plus, Wei Ziang had nothing to prove his identity; were it not for those wounds, he was just an ordinary, common rural child.

Unfortunately, the men left too quickly, and Xiaomi knew too little, nor did she dare to ask too much, otherwise, she might have been able to guess.

As for now...

Xiaomi sighed lightly, never mind, Wei Ziang was in her space; even if those men were good, she wouldn’t know how to bring him out.

Besides, with all of Wei Ziang’s injuries, outside, he might have developed a fever or gotten an infection.

Within the space, at least, he drinks water from the Spiritual Spring, eats food infused with Spiritual Energy grown inside, even the air is rich with Spiritual Energy.

Along with anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing medicine, disinfectant, there’s no better place than the space for Wei Ziang to heal.
