Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 231: Chapter 200: Registered as a Member of the Jiang Family (Part 2)

He had no memory of catching yellow eels, and now everything seemed fresh and new.

Little Mi quickly caught on: ”I’ll teach you.”

The two played by the field for more than half an hour until Jiang Hu drove the ox cart back and led them home.

”Wow, not bad, you’ve caught so many yellow eels.”

Seeing the bamboo basket, Jiang Hu was quite surprised. Although the eels were rather small, the basket was almost full.

”My big brother caught the most; he’s really fast. He catches them the moment they poke their heads out!”

Little Mi proudly raised her chin as if she herself had caught the most eels.

Jiang Hu patted Wei Ziang on the head: ”Little Wei, you’re really impressive.”

Wei Ziang smiled sheepishly, the noticeable cheerfulness in stark contrast to his usually cool, even somewhat unsmiling expression.

Jiang Hu lifted both kids onto the ox cart: ”Let’s go home first.”

A few days ago, Uncle Liu took Liu Ze back to the county town, and of course, Qixing and Aunt Yang followed along.

However, their belongings were still at the Jiang’s, and as Uncle Liu said, he was just taking Liu Ze to visit his parents, planning to return in a month or two.

Aunt prepared food to last Liu Ze for two months, worried he wouldn’t adapt to the food outside.

She even boiled the newly grown, tender vegetable leaves, dried them, and made them take along, also packing a lot of leftover cured meats, dried chicken, and rabbit.

Suddenly, there were four fewer people in the house, and it felt a bit unfamiliar.

Little Mi, looking at the goods in the ox cart, cheerfully asked, ”Thanks, has the town restored yet?”

There was candy, snacks, and some fabric and sewing supplies.

”Yes, it has, almost all the shops in town have reopened; soon you’ll be able to buy anything you need.”

Little Mi nodded, unsurprised, as things should return to normal after so long.

Because of the heat, the ox cart’s canopy had been removed. Jiang Hu lightly flicked the reins, and Big Water Buffalo began moving forward on its own without much guidance.

”Oh right, Little Wei, I got you registered under the household today.”

”Since you’re still young, you can’t have a separate household registration on your own, so you’re listed under our household. But don’t worry, we didn’t change your name, you’re still called Wei Ziang, alright?”

Jiang Hu said, taking something out from his coat, and Wei Ziang carefully accepted the household registration book after wiping his hands on his clothes.

Little Mi already leaned in, ”Fu’an Village, Wei Ziang, adopted son. Great, big brother, you’re part of our family now.”

Wei Ziang was equally excited, though he suppressed it: ”Thank you, Uncle Jiang.”

With a household registration, he no longer worried about being driven out, he now had a family!

The memoryless Wei Ziang, the rootless Wei Ziang finally found peace at this moment.

Even though he was so young, he deeply understood how important household registration was to a person.

Without it, he couldn’t go anywhere, he might even be treated as an escaped slave if he sought help from the authorities in town, with dire consequences.

Wei Ziang might not understand all of this in detail, but instinctively he knew the importance of the household registration.

Seeing it in his hand now, tears welled up as though he might cry at any moment.

These were tears of joy.

”No need to thank us, actually it’s thanks to you, Little Wei. You don’t know this, but Little Mi used to be sleepy all the time and in poor spirits, and the doctor couldn’t figure out why.”

”But ever since you came, Little Mi has recovered. So actually, we should thank you.”

This must be fate, thought Jiang Hu sincerely. Maybe Little Mi had been listless all along just waiting for Wei Ziang.

Of course, Jiang Hu wouldn’t say such things that might cause misunderstandings.

Hearing Jiang Hu’s explanation, Little Mi and Wei Ziang exchanged glances, one with a knowing look, the other with eyes full of joy.

Little Mi blinked, gesturing for Wei Ziang to keep quiet about it, and Wei Ziang nodded in agreement, then handed the household registration back to Jiang Hu; such an important thing shouldn’t be carried around recklessly.

Jiang Hu drove the ox cart directly to the back door, as it was closer for carrying things back, especially since these were food items to be stored in the kitchen.

The two little ones didn’t need Jiang Hu’s prompting, each carrying an item back inside.
