Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 214: Chapter 194: It’s March Now (Part 3)

Regarding those people who just left, I can only say sorry. Without knowing the truth, she indeed dared not hand over Wei Ziang; who knows if it’s sending a sheep into the tiger’s mouth.

”Can’t wake up? Just fine, why can’t she wake up?”

Doctor Xie’s voice rang out, interrupting Xiaomi’s thoughts. Then, she realized she had already arrived at Doctor Xie’s house and was getting ready for him to feel her pulse.

Xiaomi continued leaning on her father’s shoulder, letting Doctor Xie feel her pulse.

She knew this Doctor Xie, the village’s only doctor, who had escaped to Fu’an Village with them before.

As for the medical skills, it’s not that they are bad, they are average and not as good as the doctors in town, but he can treat ordinary headaches and fevers without any problem.

After all, she is the village’s Little Lucky Star, and growing up without illness, Doctor Xie was also being very attentive.

He finished feeling the pulse on her left hand and then her right hand, completed it all, and still,

frowned deeply in thought.

After such actions, Er-niang was frightened pale.

”Doctor Xie, what’s wrong with Xiaomi?”

”Huh? Oh.” Doctor Xie snapped back to reality, ”There’s nothing wrong, Xiaomi is doing quite well.” ℴ

Er-niang immediately heaved a sigh of relief; it’s good that there’s nothing wrong, truly good.

Jiang Hu was also frightened earlier, now hurriedly asked, ”If there’s nothing wrong then why does Xiaomi always like to sleep?”

Never happened before, except for the first two months after birth, other times she would be bright and energetic during the day, as if she had endless energy.

Xiaomi squinted her eyes again, ”Father, Mother, I’m really fine, just feel like I haven’t rested well and want to sleep a bit more.”

She had just closed her eyes when Doctor Xie came over to lift her eyelid.

After another thorough examination, Doctor Xie delivered the verdict, ”Indeed nothing’s wrong, just hasn’t slept enough, maybe she was dreaming at night.”

If you dream at night, your spirits won’t be that good during the day, which is common.

Jiang Hu and Er-niang felt slightly relieved; it’s good that there’s nothing wrong.

After writing for Doctor Xie, Er-niang wanted to give the consultation fee, but Doctor Xie insisted on not taking it.

On the way back, Xiaomi had already fallen asleep again.

Thus, it continued for over ten days, Xiaomi still slept during the day and accompanied Wei Ziang in the space at night.

At first, Jiang Hu was quite anxious about this, but later noticed that apart from sleeping, Xiaomi still had rosy cheeks and whenever she wasn’t drowsy, she would run all around, finally putting their minds at ease.

However, Xiaomi’s condition had spread within the village.

Ever since they dug up water, the Little Lucky Star had started being lethargic, not improving at all through the days.

It inevitably made people suspect whether this lethargy was related to the pond?

Whether from within or outside the village, or even from the town, the rumors spread.

This pond probably had indeed absorbed Xiaomi’s luck to produce water.

And since the Little Lucky Star’s fortune was consumed, her body needed recuperation, hence the lethargy is because her fortune was used.

Almost everyone speculated like this, even Jiang Hu and Er-niang, upon hearing it, couldn’t help but suspect.

After all, it’s such a coincidence.

The pond until now still holds just that amount of water, no more no less; during the day it’s emptied, and overnight it rises again, still the same amount.

At least there’s water, ensuring ten buckets of water daily for the village, people from outside can still come to draw water, one bucket per household, first come first served.

Regarding outsiders verifying households, they would self-monitor one another, after all, if any household draws one bucket more, others would have one less.

And every day Fu’an Village’s ten buckets of water are dispersed among forty-odd households, together with the previously stored, unused ones, it wasn’t too little.

Mid-February, the weather began warming up, still no rain, people voluntarily took oilcloth from home, stitched up a huge piece and covered the pond, minimizing evaporation.

End of February, seeing the sorghum drying up again, the water in the pond suddenly increased more than last time, again saving the sorghum.

Early March, the sorghum ears began slowly maturing, nearly ready in a few days.

March the tenth, it had been five months since the last rain.

Due to water shortage and cold weather, the sorghum matured slower than spring planting, autumn harvest.

Jiang Hu pinched a sorghum seed, still a bit tender, can grow for a few more days.

”Brother Hu, do we really want to harvest?” Er-niang with a sickle in her hand was somewhat reluctant.

Harvesting now, the yield per acre could be dozens of pounds less.

Jiang Hu looked at the sky, a cloudless day.

However, he said, ”Er-niang, I feel like rain might be coming soon.”

Even though there are no rain clouds, the air feels less dry when breathing.

The water level in the pond has noticeably risen a bit these days.

People from other villages coming for water also said the water in the mountain pond seems less deep.

Not just Jiang Hu, nearly everyone sensed these changes.

However.

”Wouldn’t rain be better? With a shower, sorghum can grow well again.”

Everyone hoped for rain, with sorghum almost ripe, despite being watered, where’s there better nourishment than a shower?

Yet, Jiang Hu continued shaking his head.

”Er-niang, have you forgotten about those people with knives saying harvest early, beware of locust plagues?”

”Both Xiao Ze and Yu’er also mentioned a possible locust plague after a long drought...”
