Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2945: Chapter 2044: Turning the Tide

The board vote concerning Vice Chairman Morgan, from start to finish, didn’t take more than a few minutes because everyone knew what was going on; this so-called vote was merely a formality.

Compared to the process, everyone was eagerly awaiting the outcome.

Different voting results would naturally lead to different consequences for Morgan.

There’s talk of ”leniency or severity,” which was concluded during the time of the old chairman, even two or three decades ago when a vice-chairman faced such a scenario.

Severity means removal from office, the group holds him accountable, and even prison time.

Leniency means demotion while retaining the position, cold treatment, and no public announcement.

It seems that the vice-chairman from decades ago wasn’t as lucky as Vice Chairman Morgan, who was ultimately sent to prison and is still there now.

This caused a significant uproar at the time.

Now, with a three to two voting result, Vice Chairman Morgan is spared from severe punishment, looking at a ”demotion while retaining his position.” He himself secretly rejoices.

At this moment, Mr. Bai Xuanyu instructs Wen Yan to announce the result publicly, which seems somewhat intentional.

Mr. Bai Xuanyu is telling Wen Yan that the result is fixed, and he should not cling to this issue, at least not make a fuss at this stage.

Additionally, Mr. Bai Xuanyu is also making it clear to Wen Yan not to attempt to defy him; he stands no chance!

Faced with such a request from Mr. Bai Xuanyu, Wen Yan’s face turns slightly green, but he has no choice but to comply.

However, Wen Yan, still unwilling to give up, decides to say something before announcing the result.

”I ask the vice-chairmen to reconsider your choices. Can you really forgive such a person and allow him to become your colleague?”

Wen Yan’s words were directed at the two vice-chairmen who chose to ”forgive” Morgan, trying to wake them up.

The two vice-chairmen acted as if they hadn’t heard anything, not even glancing at Wen Yan.

It was as if the words were not meant for them, fully understanding but pretending to be ignorant.

”Do you think that by doing this, you are being fair to the old chairman? Ask yourselves honestly!”

Li Yunyuan finally couldn’t hold back, glaring at those two, shouting loudly.

”We are precisely adhering to the old chairman’s principle of magnanimity.” A vice-chairman faced Li Yunyuan, self-righteous, ”Don’t forget, Vice Chairman Li Yunyuan, we’ve been old partners for decades. Why must we be so ruthless?”

”My decision is final for today, no matter what. This is also a power entrusted to us by the old chairman, by the group.” Another vice-chairman confidently stated.

It seems their stance won’t change at all.

Seeing this scene, Li Yunyuan gritted his teeth in hatred, slamming a hand on the sofa armrest, venting his anger.

Still, he was at a loss for what to do.

He couldn’t exactly hold a knife to their throats and force those old folks to change their minds.

The two vice-chairmen who shared Li Yunyuan’s stance also had unpleasant expressions, breathing heavily.

Morgan stole glances from side to side, unable to hide a hint of delight in his eyes.

At this point, for him to get out unscathed, how couldn’t that infuriate those hoping to see his demise?

And Wen Yan, looking at the scene in front of him, completely gave up on persuading the two vice-chairmen to change their stance.

Before he came to the meeting, he indeed prepared some notes and arguments.

However, he knew if things reached this point, no words would be useful.

Among all the vice-chairmen present, none would change their stance with mere words.

The decision was made; the outcome was set in stone.

Yet, even though he knew that his preparations were futile, Wen Yan still prepared some arguments to seek peace of mind.

But now, he really couldn’t speak them out.

Mr. Bai Xuanyu remained steadily seated from beginning to end, watching the verbal exchanges without budging.

Once no one had anything more to say, he glanced at Wen Yan and leisurely urged, ”Announce the result.”

Wen Yan couldn’t help but sigh softly in his heart.

Bai Xiaosheng, our plan this time, is ruined. But at least we severely damaged Vice Chairman Morgan. It can’t be considered a complete failure...

Wen Yan seemed to be comforting himself inwardly.

There will be time; after all, Vice Chairman Morgan, following today’s events, would definitely have his power significantly weakened, unable to stir up much trouble.

Wen Yan also knew that once today’s result was out, Vice Chairman Morgan’s past wrongdoings would no longer be pursued, practically granting him a death exemption.

This great malign and corruption, remaining as vice-chairman, holding some group authority, thus remaining at leisure.

It’s truly ironic and infuriating!

Despite his immense unwillingness, Wen Yan stood up, clearing his throat in front of everyone.

The vice-chairmen present looked at him, half with resignation and helplessness, the other half secretly content due to their interests.

At this moment, Morgan even showed a faint smile to Wen Yan.

This expression, at this moment, revealed how smug and arrogant he was feeling.

”Ladies and gentlemen, as the supervisor of this vote, I declare... all procedures of the meeting comply with group regulations; hereby announce the result. This result will be finally confirmed by Mr. Bai Xuanyu, our group’s acting chairman, after my announcement.”

Wen Yan’s words were somewhat mechanical, sounding weak.

”Our group’s Vice Chairman Mr. Morgan’s past actions, his faults, are now decided by the unanimous vote of all vice-chairmen, to be...”

The words ”lenient treatment” came from Wen Yan’s mouth, tens of thousands of times reluctantly, rolling towards the verge of being spoken.
