Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2936: Chapter 2039: Bai Xuanyu Has Returned

The news of Caroline’s fall from the building shocked everyone present beyond belief.

They all simultaneously recalled Caroline’s resolute yet somewhat relieved departure.

But no one expected that she would have such a tragic end!

Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan exchanged a startled glance, and then the two simultaneously rushed outside. The others reacted then, swarming to follow.

Vice Chairman Morgan was stunned for several seconds, his eyes dim and bewildered, trailing behind everyone.

When Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan, and the senior executives of Zhenbei Group arrived at the scene, police cars and ambulances were already there, with police lines erected around, strictly prohibiting anyone from approaching.

From afar, they could barely see a patch of crimson on the ground, and the person had already been taken away.

This area was the most expensive place in Ganande City, with abundant police force. Such an incident had officers arriving almost within three minutes to handle the situation.

In this half-mile-long Golden Street, it was never lacking in financial institutions like stock exchanges. Yesterday’s millionaires or even billionaires could become penniless today, or even bear huge debts, making such suicidal jumps not uncommon.

Especially during last year’s economic fluctuations, there were four such jumps in three consecutive months, including an event where a pedestrian was injured.

After several protests and demonstrations, the Ganande City government passed a ”High-rise Building Safety Act”, mandating the installation of safety nets on high-rise buildings.

Unfortunately, after installing on a few buildings, protests arose again, leading to a plan to dismantle them by the end of the month.

Zhenbei Group’s headquarters skyscraper also had double-layered safety nets, but it was overwhelmingly high.

These so-called safety nets couldn’t prevent death.

Bai Xiaosheng and the others were blocked outside the police line. After understanding the situation from a white police chief, the group learned that Caroline leapt from the building, breaching two layers of protection and landing.

No rescue was possible, yet the scene wasn’t as gruesome as it might have been.

”A beautiful lady, such a pity.” The chief regretfully shook his head, glancing at the airborne safety nets, and addressed the group, ”Her face was intact, and her expression was relatively peaceful for such a matter; even in death, she retained some elegance. You are not relatives, sorry, I cannot let you pass.”

Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan, and everyone present fell silent instantly; indeed, none wished to witness such tragic events.

Caroline was too resolute, choosing a path of no return.

Just then, suddenly, a swarm of people rushed up, wielding cameras and snapping frantically at them, with numerous microphones thrust forward.

In such events, the presence of reporters is inevitable.

Zhenbei Group’s employees hurriedly surged forward to separate the reporters, allowing the senior executives to withdraw.

Everyone returned inside the Group’s skyscraper, back to the conference room, maintaining silence throughout as a mourning gesture toward Caroline’s departure.

Once seated in the Number One conference room, the silence lingered deeply, with emotions yet to calm down.

Finally, Wen Yan exhaled a murky breath and slowly said, ”I’ve already tasked the public relations department, administrative department, and logistics department to handle this matter, assisting in contacting Caroline’s family and taking care of posthumous affairs. After all, Caroline was once a senior executive of our Zhenbei Group; it is a regretful situation.”

Everyone present uniformly nodded in agreement.

”For now, we still have matters to attend to.” Wen Yan said solemnly.

Caroline’s downfall is a brutal incident, and continuing this meeting is equally ruthless.

Yet the Group won’t cease operations due to any individual matter or person.

Moreover, today they are poised to corner Vice Chairman Morgan to a dead end; to halt now is to let him escape.

”You want to continue, can’t you see Caroline has already...” Vice Chairman Morgan erupted in rage, slapping the table and shouting, ”Do you want to drive everyone to death!”

Those seated exchanged mute glances, with most remaining silent.

Li Yunyuan couldn’t help but rub his temples several times.

One gets tender-hearted with age, even he felt it might be better not to continue.

”We can forgo the meeting, but there must eventually be a conclusion.” Bai Xiaosheng said slowly.

The most challenging decisions often appear ruthless yet are the most rational, in this area he supported Wen Yan.

”Bai Xiaosheng, it’s you who killed Caroline, it’s your deeds that stained the ground with blood! What, do you also want to force me into jumping now!” Vice Chairman Morgan slammed his chest, eyes glaring at Bai Xiaosheng and howled.

Bai Xiaosheng stared at Vice Chairman Morgan, slowly exhaling, ”Mr. Morgan, today you must provide the Group with an explanation!”

On matters of right and wrong, Bai Xiaosheng was unwavering.

Vice Chairman Morgan glanced around at the others present.

Many remained silent, lowering their gazes or looking elsewhere.

”Fine, fine! I’ll die before you all!” Vice Chairman Morgan suddenly stood and charged toward the window.

”Stop him!” Li Yunyuan cried out in surprise.

In fact, the conference room windows could only open at a small angle outward, making jumping impossible.

Where Caroline fell was a higher floor; after understanding the matter earlier, it was disclosed the area was in the midst of replacing a shattered explosion-resistant glass.

No one expected Caroline would manage to find the spot and leap down from there.

Nevertheless, everyone scrambled to block Vice Chairman Morgan. Who, akin to a distraught woman, wailed about his contributions to the Group, how the old Chairman praised him, bemoaned his reputation, now to be driven to suicide by juniors.

Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan exchanged glances and understood each other’s thoughts.

The harsher the moment, the more one must grit the teeth, complete the task to the end. Besides, they were not the villains; Vice Chairman Morgan was.

Caroline’s passing was regrettable, yet not a reason to spare Vice Chairman Morgan.

Wen Yan declared sternly, ”Vice Chairman Morgan, as a Group Vice Chairman, you abused your power, arrogantly indulged in excesses, not only forming cliques internally but also embezzling Group assets externally to enrich your family. I now exercise my authority granted by the Group, as the internal Investigation Director, announcing the temporary suspension of all your duties. Subsequent dealings with you will be settled upon the deliberation of the Special Council...”

Amidst Wen Yan’s severe tone and wording, the conference room door suddenly burst open from outside, thereafter a person strode in with a firm voice, ”Release Mr. Morgan!”

Including Vice Chairman Morgan, everyone turned their heads in surprise.

The person wasn’t unknown, it was the reportedly delayed Acting Chairman—Bai Xuanyu.

Upon seeing Bai Xuanyu, Vice Chairman Morgan dashed towards him as if towards a savior, breaking free from the others, pouring out his grievances with tears.

”Chairman Xuanyu, you’ve finally come, they’re forcing me to death today! Caroline, Caroline already jumped off the building!”

At this moment Bai Xuanyu’s appearance was weathered yet fierce, he glanced deeply at Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan, and said in a heavy tone, ”How did it end up like this! Isn’t this enough already!”
