Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2944: Chapter 2043: The Outcome Is Decided? (Part 2)

Bai Xiaosheng snapped back to reality and gave Wen Yan a smile, ”It’s nothing.”

”Nothing?” Wen Yan couldn’t help but lean slightly, examining Bai Xiaosheng and asking, ”What did Mr. Situ Yin say to you in the hospital room?”

”In total, he didn’t say more than twenty words.” Bai Xiaosheng hesitated for a moment and said, ”But he did mention something unexpected...”

”What is it?” Wen Yan, usually so composed, was intrigued by Bai Xiaosheng’s words and pressed further.

Bai Xiaosheng’s expression carried a hint of the unusual, as he looked at Wen Yan, ”I would like to share, but Mr. Situ Yin instructed me before the afternoon meeting to keep it confidential, not even with the closest of kin.”

Wen Yan was taken aback, looking at Bai Xiaosheng in surprise, ”That mysterious?”

”But if you really want to know...” Bai Xiaosheng probed.

Wen Yan made a gesture for silence, laughing, ”I’m not so desperate to know everything, especially since it’s an instruction from Mr. Situ Yin. I understand, I won’t ask further.”

After a pause, Wen Yan asked tentatively, ”Is it related to the afternoon meeting?”

Bai Xiaosheng looked at him and gave a heartfelt smile, ”Good news!”

Upon seeing this, Wen Yan’s heart was full of joy, ”That’s good.”

Next, Wen Yan didn’t ask another word, nor did Bai Xiaosheng say more on the matter, and the two took a car back to headquarters for lunch.

In fact, from visiting the hospital until nearly two o’clock, they only then had lunch; the afternoon decision meeting for vice chairmen was set for three, time was surely tight.

After eating, Wen Yan said to Bai Xiaosheng, ”I need to go prepare. If the meeting trends unfavorably, I’ll be ready to sway the hesitant vice chairmen with my prepared speeches.”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded immediately, and Wen Yan parted ways with him.

Bai Xiaosheng also returned to his residence.

When he met Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying again, Bai Xiaosheng just mentioned that he went with Wen Yan to visit Mr. Lu Cheng’an, and said nothing more.

Having promised Situ Yin, not even a word to his closest ones would be revealed, Bai Xiaosheng would comply.

For the remainder of the time, Bai Xiaosheng sat quietly in the living room of his room, waiting.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying inevitably found it odd.

Given Bai Xiaosheng’s mental fortitude, even when awaiting the meeting’s results, he would never leave himself idle.

So to them, Bai Xiaosheng didn’t quite seem to wait for the outcome of the meeting, perhaps he awaited something else.

As for what he awaited, Bai Xiaosheng didn’t say, and they contained their curiosity.

Time ticked by, soon reaching half-past two, and Bai Xiaosheng had checked the time several times.

Finally, Lin Weiwei was somewhat unable to contain herself, asking Bai Xiaosheng, ”Xiaosheng, you seem to have something on your mind, a bit restless.”

Bai Xiaosheng composed himself, smiled, and said, ”I’m fine.”

Though he claimed all was well, within the next fifteen minutes, Bai Xiaosheng checked the time several more times.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying exchanged glances.

Bai Xiaosheng also noticed his own anxiety and immediately closed his eyes, assuming a meditative posture.

However, shortly after he closed his eyes, the doorbell rang.

Lin Weiwei intended to get up and answer the door, yet saw a figure already springing up and rushing to the door, leaving Lei Ying dazed, holding a teacup with his gaze following.

Only then did Lin Weiwei realize it was her Xiaosheng who had dashed out, somewhat dumbfounded, glancing at Lei Ying.

Lei Ying shrugged and took a sip of his tea.

...

Bai Xiaosheng opened the door, outside stood a person, with a respectful appearance, smiling, and holding something with both hands.

Seeing the visitor and the item he held, Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but break into a smile, as the troubling burden of recent days seemed to dissipate at that moment.

At this moment, in Bai Xiaosheng’s mind, Red Lotus’ crisp ”voice” echoed—

”Condition change, task, canceled!”

At this very moment.

In another room of the group meeting rooms, two rows of single sofas were placed, with four in each row.

At one end of the two rows, a solitary single-seat sofa faced them.

This was the internal voting meeting of the seven vice chairmen, seven seats for the seven vice chairmen, plus a supervisor, with the single seat being the host’s place.

Less than ten minutes before the meeting began, all seven vice chairmen except Mr. Lu Cheng’an had arrived, including Vice Chairman Morgan.

Even though Mr. Lu Cheng’an couldn’t come, his seat remained, a gesture of respect.

Bai Xuanyu and Wen Yan had not yet arrived.

Morgan sat there with a faint smile on his face, appearing calm and unhurried, exuding an air of ease.

The stark contrast between his previous embarrassment, even crying and shouting in public, was evident. Everyone could see he had gained some confidence.

Li Yunyuan was eyeing Vice Chairman Morgan with anger.

This bastard Morgan, truly becoming arrogant under the protection of Acting Chairman Bai Xuanyu!

He was such a disgusting sight!

Li Yunyuan glanced at the two vice chairmen beside him. He had already united with them to ensure Morgan faced the punishment he deserved.

However, Li Yunyuan’s gaze then fell on the two vice chairmen in the same row as Morgan, causing him to slightly furrow his brows.

Their faces showed smiles as they exchanged whispers and had even greeted Morgan amicably earlier.

The situation seemed somewhat off!

Li Yunyuan, being highly perceptive, immediately sensed that those two seemed not to be on his side.

If that were the case, of the five vice chairmen eligible to vote, only their three opinions would be firmly united.

In the end, Morgan might escape the severe punishment!

This made Li Yunyuan extremely displeased.

Fortunately, the two vice chairmen beside Li Yunyuan shared his sentiments, gazing at the other three with animosity.

At that moment, the door opened, and Bai Xuanyu and Wen Yan entered one after another.

”All the vice chairmen are here.” Bai Xuanyu greeted everyone politely.

”Chairman Xuanyu!” Vice Chairman Morgan exclaimed with enthusiasm upon seeing Bai Xuanyu, trying to catch his attention with a smile.

Li Yunyuan, seeing this, snorted lightly through his nose in anger.

The others exchanged glances and also greeted Bai Xuanyu.

Wen Yan also paid his respects to everyone.

Afterward, they all took their seats again.

Bai Xuanyu looked around at them and said gravely, ”Today’s meeting, you vice chairmen are aware, so I won’t say much. Let’s not waste time, especially since the group is currently in a special period, very busy. After the voting concludes and a result emerges, we will rely on you all to help the group get through this crisis.”

The attending vice chairmen nodded silently.

”Then let’s begin.” Bai Xuanyu said.

The atmosphere instantly tensed.

Li Yunyuan didn’t hesitate to break the silence, ”Everyone knows what Morgan has done. I’ll say only one word, ’unbearable’! I believe he should be punished severely with no leniency!”

With such words, Li Yunyuan metaphorically placed the knife to Vice Chairman Morgan’s neck; Morgan glanced at Li Yunyuan, eyes narrowed slightly with a dangerous gleam, followed by a cold smile.

”I agree with Mr. Li Yunyuan’s opinion!” declared one vice chairman.

”I also agree!” added another.

In an instant, the number of people agreeing to punish Vice Chairman Morgan severely reached three.

But the remaining two vice chairmen on the other side were silent.

Li Yunyuan immediately frowned and looked at them, while others also focused their attention on them.

Wen Yan witnessed this and exhaled a heavy sigh quietly.

The anticipated concern had indeed arrived!

”What do you two think?” Bai Xuanyu asked calmly.

One vice chairman forced a smile and said, ”Vice Chairman Li Yunyuan, and you two other vice chairmen, isn’t your decision a bit hasty? Vice Chairman Morgan rose with us, assisting the old chairman in building the company from the ground up through thick and thin over the years. How can all that effort be completely negated in an instant? Harsh punishment... seems excessive to me, perhaps a middle ground is better.”

The other vice chairman also said, ”Moreover, at this point in time, the group cannot endure any negative news, let alone involving a vice chairman, it would be greatly detrimental to the group!”

They were playing the affection and broad perspective card, obviously unwilling to agree.

Li Yunyuan, seeing this, couldn’t help but have his gaze darken, saying slowly, ”We all understand the reasoning here, no need for more words. Are you two determined to protect Morgan then?”

”The old chairman always valued sentiments.”

”For the group’s sake, we cannot act recklessly at this critical juncture.”

The two remained resolute.

Li Yunyuan responded coldly, ”No need for nonsense, let’s vote!”

This meeting is not for verbal sparring; only the outcome matters.

A show of hands for the vote: three votes to two votes.

This result elicited a smile from Vice Chairman Morgan, causing Wen Yan to furrow his brow.

”The result was reached quickly, which is good. Wrapping up quickly facilitates carrying out work.” Bai Xuanyu looked towards Wen Yan and remarked, ”You’ve been quite attentive to this matter, I think it’s best if you announce the results, Wen Yan!”
