Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2934: Chapter 2038: Pursuing Morgan

In the video, Robert announced their family’s decision regarding Caroline. After speaking, Robert remained silent for several moments, staring at Caroline before finally cutting off the image.

This cutoff signified the severance of the family’s connection with Caroline.

This cutoff also made Caroline, who raised her eyes again to look over, feel as if her heart was frozen.

”Caroline, as the President of the Group’s North America division, wealth, fame, status, honor – the Group did not fail you. You ought to have worked earnestly and diligently, not betraying your initial intentions, repaying the Group. But instead, you abused your position to embezzle Group assets massively, excluded dissenters, framed colleagues, an act utterly disgraceful! Now, as the Group’s Internal Investigation Chief, exercising the power entrusted by the Group, I announce your suspension for investigation! Subsequent investigation results will be publicly presented to all senior members, and the Group reserves the right to sue you!”

Wen Yan spoke with a grim expression, solemnly addressing Caroline.

Caroline raised her head in confusion, a hint of despair flashing through her eyes, yet she then smiled wryly.

Wen Yan’s announcement of this punishment on the spot meant that everything was over for her.

From this moment on, all her powers were suspended, all means of remedy could no longer be used.

If the family were willing to support her at all costs, she might still have a ray of hope.

But ever since Robert appeared on the grand stage, speaking in the family’s voice announcing his abandonment of her, she knew she had become the family’s discard, completely abandoned.

For a brief moment, hatred soared in Caroline’s heart.

She hated why her brother helped outsiders, hated why those old fellows in the family were persuaded by Robert to give up on her.

Without her, her family would not be where it is today!

But now, she understood, her brother wasn’t someone who would betray her in a day or two; from the start, he was a bomb planted by Bai Xiaosheng beside her, deceiving her from beginning to end, leaving her unaware.

And not only that, Robert must have, with Bai Xiaosheng’s support, ”persuaded” the Clan Leader and those key figures to abandon her.

In this light, that useless brother of hers had already grown into a competent strategist, a leader with schemes.

That somehow remains a comforting thought.

Caroline also thought that her family would now definitely spare no effort to reach an understanding with the Zhenbei Group, maybe even gain favor from the Group with Bai Xiaosheng’s help, potentially engaging in proper business exchanges.

This is rather favorable.

She used to be the family’s glory, the family’s pride, the family’s cornerstone.

But now, she has become a burden to the family.

For a family, she now holds no value; the family wouldn’t pay anything for her, she’s a floating weed without a place to stand.

Reflecting on the past, questioning herself.

Caroline’s actions certainly included considerations for herself, but weren’t most of them for the family?

Perhaps such an outcome isn’t ideal for her, but it becomes another path for the family.

It’s just that she is no longer needed on that path.

As Caroline thought about it, the hatred in her heart suddenly dissipated.

Strangely, she felt a kind of ease in letting go, a sense of relief.

Even she hadn’t anticipated that she could feel this way.

Facing the attention from everyone, Caroline silently told herself: I can fail, but I shouldn’t let anyone look down on me; I’ve been proud all my life, able to win and lose with dignity!

Everyone thought Caroline would lose control of her emotions next, possibly shouting on the spot, possibly going crazy.

But what no one expected was that Caroline quickly calmed her expression, stood up, gazing silently at the round table embossed with the Group’s emblem in front of her for two seconds, before leaving without saying a word.

”Caroline!” Vice Chairman Morgan couldn’t help but shout.

Caroline acted as if she hadn’t heard, walking straight towards the door, her steps still steady, her back still upright.

She could have been wrong, could have failed, but her elegance should not be destroyed.

That was her personal pride.

With everyone silently watching, Caroline spread her arms wide like a great bird about to soar, pulling open the conference room’s two doors; under the surprised gazes of those outside, she looked back at the people in the room, even revealing a smile.

She looked at Vice Chairman Morgan, at Wen Yan, at Bai Xiaosheng, her gaze like an ancient, unmoving well, devoid of resentment and unwillingness.

The outcome settled, those emotions seemed meaningless to her.

She was that wise, intelligent, graceful woman, always was; she wouldn’t be bound by some trivial outcome, becoming an unworthy lunatic.

That would be worse than death.

”I have been proud all my life, yet failed so thoroughly; I think I should leave gracefully like the wind; downfall is not my path!”

Caroline turned her head and walked out.

Everyone looked on with emotions stirred.

No one expected that the North America division’s President of the Zhenbei Group would end in such a manner. No one thought that until the very last moment, this woman would still have such strong self-esteem.

Bai Xiaosheng gazed intently, unable to return to his senses for a long time.

Sometimes, it’s not that he wants things to be this way, but rather forced by circumstances.

His opponent, who exited today, left him with more regrets.

Wen Yan too was full of emotions, gazing at the door for a long time.

”Mr. Wen Yan, how can you treat Miss Caroline in this way! This all needs further investigation; involving a President requires repeated verification before deciding! You are making such a decision based solely on Bai Xiaosheng’s word; it’s far too hasty!”
