Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2920: Chapter 2031: Outlook Not Optimistic (2)

Jiang Kuo hesitated for a moment and said in a low voice, ”When I came to pick you up, I heard that the situation over there isn’t good. Mr. Wen Yan has already gone to visit. Otherwise, he mentioned to me earlier that he would come to pick you up too.”

Bai Xiaosheng was quite surprised upon hearing this.

Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an was actually sent to the hospital!

It’s important to know that the group provides personal doctors for all vice chairmen, and even has a full set of medical equipment in the headquarters’ medical room.

If such circumstances still lead to hospitalization, it only suggests that the elder’s condition is extremely severe!

This time, Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan had agreed to deal with Vice Chairman Morgan. Even if everything went smoothly, a thorough investigation leading to the suspension of a vice chairman would still require a series of special procedures.

One of which is the need for approval by more than half of the seven vice chairmen at the headquarters, which originally included Elder Lu Cheng’an.

Right now, with Elder Lu seriously ill, the investigation will undoubtedly be greatly affected.

However, Bai Xiaosheng did not worry about these things. What occupied his mind was the encouragement and support Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an had given him in the past, and the help he had provided!

The old man had been wholeheartedly dedicated to the group, without any selfish intentions, which was something Bai Xiaosheng especially respected.

As Bai Xiaosheng fell into silence, Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying also quietly fell silent.

The two of them felt a sense of lament for the elder whom they had been fortunate enough to meet only a few times as he fell ill.

”Hey, don’t look like that, maybe it’s not as bad as it seems,” Jiang Kuo comforted them.

”Brother Jiang, let’s not return to headquarters, let’s go straight to the hospital!” Bai Xiaosheng snapped back to reality and said decisively.

Jiang Kuo was taken aback. Seeing Bai Xiaosheng’s determined look, he couldn’t help but nod, ”Alright! Actually, I was going to visit anyway, so let’s go together!”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, next to him, couldn’t help but nod slightly.

With everyone thinking alike, Jiang Kuo immediately instructed the driver to reroute to the hospital.

On the way, Bai Xiaosheng and the others went to buy flowers and fruit as gifts for visiting the sick.

Jiang Kuo also made a call to the hospital. After hanging up, he told Bai Xiaosheng, ”Mr. Wen Yan is still there. A few vice chairmen and the business president just visited and have left. Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an had a stroke and fell into a coma. They’re examining to see if it’s a brain hemorrhage or a cerebral infarction. The situation is unclear.”

Bai Xiaosheng’s expression turned grave, and he nodded slowly.

Over an hour later, the limousine they were riding in drove into the parking lot of the West Wing of Saint Nande Hospital.

Jiang Kuo left his driver and entourage behind, and he, carrying the items with Bai Xiaosheng and the others, headed straight for the ward area.

Saint Nande Hospital is divided into East and West Wings. The East Wing is public, while the West Wing is private, with top-notch medical and environmental conditions in all of America.

They crossed the tranquil park between the buildings and found the small building where Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an was staying.

Here, every patient of significant status enjoys this kind of small building alone, providing a quiet environment with independent facilities, almost feeling like a sanatorium.

As Bai Xiaosheng and his group entered, they met a group of doctors in white coats departing. The lead was a bald elderly white man conversing intently with an elderly woman, discussing the condition while other doctors, male and female, quietly listened.

It looked like a medical team dedicated to treating Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an.

Bai Xiaosheng inadvertently overheard snippets of their conversation, words like ”not very optimistic,” ”difficult to recover mobility quickly,” and ”prepare the ICU.”

This made Bai Xiaosheng’s demeanor inevitably become more serious.

Upstairs, they headed straight for the ward.

In the corridor, Bai Xiaosheng saw Wen Yan standing outside, quietly talking with Soruns.

Despite their efforts to lighten their footsteps, the two noticed Bai Xiaosheng and the others.

Upon seeing Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan and Soruns smiled and stepped over to him.

”You’re back.”

When two steps away from Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan said quietly, reaching out his hand.

”I’m back.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, reaching out to shake hands with him.

Wen Yan stepped closer, affectionately patting Bai Xiaosheng’s arm.

The two of them, like long-time friends, conveyed emotions and intentions with just a simple greeting and gesture.

Soruns also greeted Bai Xiaosheng and shook his hand.

Then, Jiang Kuo also exchanged greetings with the two of them.

”How is the old gentleman’s condition?” Bai Xiaosheng asked softly, looking towards the ward.

”He temporarily woke up from the coma, but...” Wen Yan’s brows furrowed with concern, then said, ”Let me take you over.”

Wen Yan led Bai Xiaosheng and the others towards the ward.

The ward was a suite, with a living room-like area upon entry, where family members were waiting, men and women all middle-aged, none of the younger generation were present, likely sent away.

The ward was inside, isolated by a heavy door, and through the glass, nurses could be seen bustling around.

Wen Yan softly introduced Bai Xiaosheng to Lu Cheng’an’s children.

Upon hearing that Bai Xiaosheng just returned, after a flight of more than ten hours, came straight here without going to the headquarters first, the children of the elder were quite moved, expressing their gratitude to Bai Xiaosheng repeatedly.

Bai Xiaosheng also offered some comforting words.

After a while, realizing there was nothing more they could assist with there, Wen Yan exchanged a look with Bai Xiaosheng, Soruns, and Jiang Kuo, and they took their leave from the family members.

The family members, having seen how busy Wen Yan had been all morning, held him in high regard, thanked him politely, and sent a representative to escort them downstairs.

After leaving the hospital building, they walked towards the parking lot.

It was Wen Yan who broke the silence first, smiling at Bai Xiaosheng, ”It happened so suddenly, we couldn’t get in touch with you, and we couldn’t pick you up. I hope you understand.”

”No one could have anticipated this. We can only hope Elder Lu recovers soon.” Bai Xiaosheng glanced back at the ward, then smiled at Wen Yan, ”There’s no need to be so formal with me.”

Wen Yan smiled, ”Over the past year, you’ve been exceptional. The group will surely reward you greatly. There’s nothing you cannot handle.”

Soruns also smiled and said, ”Mr. Bai, you’ve shown me what formidable capabilities look like, and how remarkable the young can be. How about I file a request with the group to have you come assist our European division for half a year? You’re always welcome.”

Jiang Kuo quickly added, ”Our Mr. Bai hasn’t been home for a long time. Besides, our Asia department needs his support too.”

”See, you’re quite popular now.” Wen Yan teased.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled modestly, shaking his head.

Then, they discussed the lunch reception the headquarters had arranged for Bai Xiaosheng. Although Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an was ill, his condition, though poor, was stable and hadn’t worsened, so there’s no need for unnecessary grief.

Wen Yan expressed that a welcome was still in order, given Bai Xiaosheng’s great contributions to the group.

As they chatted walking towards the parking lot, Wen Yan insisted that Bai Xiaosheng join him in his car, and none of them opposed.

Once in the car heading towards the headquarters, without others present, Wen Yan brought up their plan with Bai Xiaosheng.

Originally, everything was set, and while not entirely certain, they were confident of success. But now, with Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an hospitalized, it’s uncertain.

”The attack was originally scheduled for the next couple of days, but now, as you know, I’m worried about facing issues at the final critical moment without Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an. Among the seven vice chairmen, I only trust four, and aside from Vice Chairman Morgan, I haven’t interacted with the other two.” Wen Yan said, ”Perhaps we should postpone our plan and see how Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an’s condition progresses. What do you think?”

Bai Xiaosheng also felt a bit troubled.

Wen Yan’s analysis was correct, but time waits for no one!

”I’m afraid of delays. Vice Chairman Morgan and Caroline combined are difficult to deal with. Although we can use temporary distraction tactics, I’m worried they might catch on.” Bai Xiaosheng expressed his concern, ”Moreover, while we can wait, Vice Chairman Morgan might not hesitate to attack us. With Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an ill, it might actually be an excellent opportunity for him!”

Wen Yan couldn’t help but nod and then gritted his teeth, seemingly making a monumental decision.

”Let’s proceed with the original plan!”

”As the saying goes, ’Man proposes, God disposes!’”
