Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2914: Chapter 2029: A Mind as Cunning as a Demon

”Now? Want to have another chat with me about certain things?” Mrs. Margery’s eyes flickered slightly as she stared into Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes and asked slowly, ”Then, what aspects would Mr. Bai like to discuss, and how would you like to discuss them?”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, looked around the lounge, and said, ”This place, is it soundproofed, and is it equipped with any surveillance devices?”

Mrs. Margery chuckled and said, ”You can rest assured, this place is very soundproof, and I guarantee there are no surveillance devices installed here.”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded upon hearing this and said, ”Then I’m relieved.”

Mrs. Margery waited quietly for Bai Xiaosheng to continue speaking.

”Mrs. Margery, when I was a guest at your home, the cooperative blueprint you laid out targeting Morgan indeed intrigued me, and we have preliminarily reached a... let’s call it a consensus.” Bai Xiaosheng said, ”However, after going back, I still felt somewhat uneasy.”

”Uneasy, what are you worried about? Are you worried this is a trap?”

Mrs. Margery raised an eyebrow, half-smiling as she looked at Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng shrugged and said, ”You’ve already told me many things, and have been quite frank; if I claimed not to see the intention to join forces against Vice Chairman Morgan, Wen Yan wouldn’t believe it either.”

”Then what are you still worried about?” Mrs. Margery asked, gazing into Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes.

Bai Xiaosheng sighed slightly and said bluntly, ”What I’m worried about is whether Vice Chairman Morgan has another plan prepared to deal with us, and your plan to counterattack him is actually nested within the framework of his larger plan.”

What Bai Xiaosheng said was somewhat convoluted.

Mrs. Margery listened with an expressionless face.

Bai Xiaosheng continued, ”As you know, Wen Yan and I have other cards up our sleeves, which we won’t reveal until the last moment. Adding the chips you provided, our capabilities are an unknown quantity. As for Vice Chairman Morgan, I’m afraid you are just as unaware of the cards he holds. Thus, the outcome between us and Vice Chairman Morgan is uncertain.”

”And you indeed wish to free yourself from Vice Chairman Morgan’s control, wanting to clean your hands of any ill-gotten gains and avoid future repercussions. But you’re also worried that if you put all your bets on us, and we lose out, Vice Chairman Morgan won’t spare you, making it not worthwhile.”

”In such a scenario, you would inevitably devise an exquisite layout, aiding Vice Chairman Morgan in scheming against us, while also attempting to help us topple Vice Chairman Morgan. This way, you can sit on the fence, taking advantage of both sides while biding your time.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled as he looked at Mrs. Margery, ”Do you think my suspicions are justified?”

Mrs. Margery looked at Bai Xiaosheng, suddenly laughed, and even raised her hands to clap gently.

”Mr. Bai, your thought process is truly novel. With such an imagination, you’d be better off becoming a novelist rather than doing business.”

Up to now, Mrs. Margery neither confirmed nor denied anything and even displayed a mocking attitude, as if Bai Xiaosheng was overly paranoid.

Since earlier, Bai Xiaosheng had been fully focused on observing Mrs. Margery, not missing a single change in her expression or movements, and even had Red Lotus activate analytical mode throughout, using a dual approach.

Originally, Bai Xiaosheng only had a feeling about these matters, without any solid evidence.

But since these feelings lingered and wouldn’t go away, he began to take them seriously, analyzing the possibilities based on his instincts.

The sixth sense is a very mysterious thing, and even the world’s wealthiest people and financial tycoons sometimes stubbornly choose to trust their feelings and judgments.

Though Mrs. Margery had shown no flaws so far, Bai Xiaosheng insisted on maintaining eye contact with her, not backing down.

”What will you do if your assumption is wrong?” Mrs. Margery’s smile slowly faded as her sharp, knife-like gaze pierced into Bai Xiaosheng, and she asked slowly, ”And what if you’re right?”

This cooperation had not even begun, and Bai Xiaosheng had already expressed ”distrust,” so how could this cooperation continue?

If the cooperation fails, Mrs. Margery would inevitably reveal information about Bai Xiaosheng and his group to Vice Chairman Morgan, and even the tiniest clues would be highly disadvantageous!

If Bai Xiaosheng were correct, the cooperation would become even less feasible, as it would be clear that Mrs. Margery was playing both sides. How could Bai Xiaosheng trust this millennium-old fox?

There would be no foundation for mutual trust between the two parties.

In fact, since Bai Xiaosheng first spoke on such matters, the situation had become very bleak.

Faced with Mrs. Margery’s aggressive gaze and questioning, Bai Xiaosheng remained calm and said.

”Since the situation has changed dramatically, I’m afraid our previous agreement cannot stand. Mrs. Margery, once Vice Chairman Morgan is dealt with, your term will be shortened to three years, some of the vested interests you’ve obtained will have to be returned, and you will also need to publicly submit an apology letter to the group, apologizing for everything you did under Vice Chairman Morgan’s pressure, with the apology letter made public to the upper management!”

This essentially dealt a harsh blow to their previously reached agreement. However, it implied that he still intended to continue cooperating with Mrs. Margery.

”Exposing” the other side, cutting down the price, yet still wanting to cooperate.

Even Mrs. Margery began to find Bai Xiaosheng’s way of thinking ”remarkably admirable.”

”Setting aside other matters, just from the fact that you’re reducing my demands, do you think I would agree?” Mrs. Margery coldly laughed and countered.
