Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2776: Chapter 1967: High-End Gathering

Tieluoga originally followed his father, Rogge, although there were plenty of professionals present at the power plant, and nothing required his attention.

Just running errands for his father was satisfying enough for him.

At this moment, Lin Weiwei came to find him, saying that Bai Xiaosheng was looking for him.

Tieluoga didn’t dare be negligent, so he greeted his father and went with Lin Weiwei to meet Bai Xiaosheng.

On the way, Tieluoga learned from Lin Weiwei that Bai Xiaosheng wanted to take him to attend a gathering of spice merchants.

Tieluoga was surprised to hear this, ”As far as I know, spice merchants’ inventories are nearly depleted. With the cash flow and transport problems, overseas supplies are delayed. Are they planning a meeting to pool funds to bring spices over? How come I haven’t heard any industry news about this?”

He had no idea that this gathering was specially organized for Bai Xiaosheng.

Lin Weiwei just told him, ”It’s a small-scale gathering; the merchants attending probably still have some stock. They need to stabilize the market, and overseas spice transport might be a topic of discussion. I don’t know the details; it’s no use asking me. It’ll all be clear when we get there.”

Tieluoga thought this made sense and couldn’t help but nod.

Lin Weiwei smiled and said, ”This gathering could mark the beginning of a comeback for your business.”

Lin Weiwei’s words were a double entendre.

Tieluoga didn’t catch it, thinking that Bai Xiaosheng was using his business connections to help him. He felt somewhat grateful, ”Then I’ll do my best!”

Hearing him say this, Lin Weiwei just smiled without saying much.

Tieluoga then joined Lin Weiwei, Bai Xiaosheng, and Lei Ying.

”It’s getting late, let’s go.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Lei Ying had already coordinated with the staff to get a car. The gathering they were going to was on another large island, which had a city comparable to Lares in scale, called Burelli City.

Bai Xiaosheng’s group of four first took the car, then switched to a ferry at the port before finally arriving on Burelli Island.

At the port, the four of them found a taxi and headed straight to the gathering venue - the Burelli International Hotel.

Leifer and others had rented an entire business hall there for a cocktail party.

The taxi passed through the early evening streets of Burelli, and everyone rolled down the windows, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the local nightscape.

On the road, Tieluoga couldn’t help but ask Bai Xiaosheng about who would be attending the gathering and whether he should prepare anything in advance.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled and replied, ”I don’t know many people; we can chat with them once we arrive. You shouldn’t feel too pressured to prepare anything; I don’t think it’s necessary.”

Only then did Tieluoga feel at ease.

In his view, either the private gathering was small-scale with no prominent figures, where merchants were just supporting each other in hard times.

Everyone was down on their luck, so there was no need for much preparation.

Or the gathering was modestly large, but Bai Xiaosheng’s contacts weren’t strong enough to do much, so they would just be getting a sense of the atmosphere.

In that case, bringing eyes to see and ears to listen was enough.

Tieluoga thought that although Bai Xiaosheng had a solid reputation in Asia and Africa, this was Kustiel, and Bai Xiaosheng was new here, inevitably lacking strong connections.

So these were the two possibilities he considered.

However, they might still gain something from attending, so Tieluoga didn’t ask much more.

He had no idea it was a truly high-end gathering organized explicitly for Bai Xiaosheng’s arrival.

The taxi drove smoothly, and the driver was evidently experienced.

But suddenly, after their conversation, the driver hit the brakes abruptly.

Bai Xiaosheng and the others were thrown forward by inertia, but the seatbelts yanked them back, making them feel slightly uncomfortable.

”Driver, what are you doing!” Lin Weiwei exclaimed in surprise and anger.

The taxi driver helplessly spread his hands, gesturing forward, ”Miss, didn’t you notice? That car suddenly appeared sideways! If I hadn’t braked, we would have crashed! That’s a luxury car worth several million US dollars. If we hit it, I couldn’t afford to pay for it!”

Lin Weiwei was momentarily speechless.

In the back, Bai Xiaosheng consoled, ”Alright, alright. Driver, let’s continue on our way.”

The taxi started up again.

However, after two intersections, the car stopped at a traffic light.

The driver suddenly noticed the car beside them and hurriedly whispered to everyone, ”Look, it’s that car!”

Then the driver coldly snorted, ”It sure was driving arrogantly earlier! But it still has to follow Kustiel’s traffic rules. Even a luxury car worth millions can’t fly.”

Everyone found it amusing.

The rear window of the luxury car next to them suddenly rolled down, and a young, affluent-looking white man leaned his forearm on the window, shouting, ”Hey, isn’t that Tieluoga!”

Their windows hadn’t been rolled up, so the person in the other car could clearly see them. Tieluoga happened to be sitting on that side.

Hearing someone call his name, Tieluoga couldn’t help but turn to look, his brows slightly furrowed, his expression somewhat complex.

”Steven!”

”Tieluoga, I thought you might have perished amid the business turmoil, but you’re still alive! How have you fallen to the point of taking such a shabby taxi? It’s a sight that makes one feel relieved!” Steven laughed as if genuinely amused, ”With your tiny business, this kind of taxi suits your status, doesn’t it?”
