Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2760: Chapter 1960: Struck Gold_2

The elderly protester and the security chief, who had been arguing earlier, instinctively looked back to examine the three people, naturally taking a break.

”We’re not here for sightseeing, we need to go inside to check the equipment.”

As Bai Xiaosheng spoke, he took an access card from Lin Weiwei and handed it over.

It was a pass obtained from Mr. Santos.

As soon as the security guard saw it, he straightened up, took it to the chief’s side. The chief suspiciously glanced at Bai Xiaosheng, then took a card reader from another subordinate, and with a swipe of Bai Xiaosheng’s card, the level displayed left him stunned, his eyes showing disbelief.

Soon after, the chief smiled, leaving the elderly protester behind, and came over with large strides.

”May I ask where you got this access card?” the chief asked with extreme politeness, offering the card back with both hands.

Bai Xiaosheng took the card with a smile and said, ”I got it from Mr. Santos. Chief, you can call to verify.”

”No need, no need. Please come in!” The chief courteously made a ”please” gesture, then loudly instructed to have the barrier opened.

Bai Xiaosheng nodded and walked in with Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying.

At this moment, the elderly protester made a swift move, blocking the path of the three.

”Old man, what are you doing? Guards, get him out of the way!” The security chief shouted harshly, afraid the elderly man would offend these distinguished guests.

The security guards immediately stepped forward.

”Young man, listen to me. I just want to go inside to catch a fish, it won’t take long. My son hasn’t been home for a month; he’s back today, and I want to make him a nice meal. He’s not in good spirits lately, I’m worried about him. He’s about your age; you have a father, too. Can you understand a father’s concern?”

The elderly man was speaking urgently to Bai Xiaosheng as he struggled against the security guards, almost out of breath as he finished speaking in a single breath.

Bai Xiaosheng felt a bit sympathetic.

He hadn’t gone home to see his father for a long time, and this elderly man reminded him of his own dad.

Lin Weiwei also tugged at Bai Xiaosheng’s sleeve from behind, unable to bear the scene.

Although Lei Ying showed no action, his expression also suggested he wanted to help the elderly man.

”Hold on.” Bai Xiaosheng loudly stopped the increasingly rough guards, turned to the chief and said, ”Chief, this elderly gentleman is my friend. Could you let him in to catch a fish?”

The elderly man said he often came here before, so it wouldn’t have any adverse impact or consequences.

The chief might just be cautious and following rules.

Seeing Bai Xiaosheng speak up, the elderly man’s face lit up with joy.

The chief was stunned, then laughed, ”Since you’ve spoken, of course, it’s fine. Your guest is no problem.”

Even if those above blame it later, there’s someone to take responsibility. Doing a favor is no big deal.

At the security chief’s signal, the guards released the elderly man and backed off.

The elderly man beamed with joy, walked to Bai Xiaosheng’s side, repeatedly thanking him, ”Thank you, thank you, kind sir.”

”No need to be polite, sir, let’s go in together.” Bai Xiaosheng said gently.

”Alright, alright,” the elderly man replied repeatedly.

The security chief led the way, and Bai Xiaosheng, along with Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, entered the enclosure with the elderly man.

As they walked past the reservoir to the dam, the elderly man was familiar with the path and enthusiastically talked to Bai Xiaosheng about the history of the dam.

It seemed he was well-acquainted with the place.

Bai Xiaosheng noticed the elderly man’s eloquence and the wealth of knowledge in his words, recalling what he overheard during the altercation with the security guards at the gate.

He had multiple degrees and even held the title of an ecologist, which was no small feat.

Bai Xiaosheng became curious and smiled, ”I haven’t asked your name yet. My last name is Bai, you can just call me Bai.”

”Young man, you can call me Rogge,” the elderly man laughed, ”I live on the west side of this island.”

”Mr. Rogge, what do you do? You seem like a university lecturer to me,” Bai Xiaosheng probed.

Old Rogge chuckled lightly, shook his head, ”Not mentioning the past, now I’m just an ordinary old fellow who loves to wander around.”

Seeing the other party seemed unwilling to talk more about himself, Bai Xiaosheng refrained from asking further.

Soon, old Rogge pointed a finger at a spot by the reservoir, smiling at Bai Xiaosheng, ”Look, that’s where I often fish. See, there’s a small stone pool I built myself. This time, I’ll be fishing there again. I’m quite skilled at fishing, I can guarantee a catch within fifteen minutes.”

Bai Xiaosheng laughed, ”Then I must ask the old gentleman for some tips when there’s an opportunity.”

”Absolutely no problem,” old Rogge chuckled, ”Young man, you go about your business. I’m off to fish. When you’re done, remember to come over; I’ll save a big fish for you in that little pool.”

The elderly man specifically emphasized, ”A giant bass, not something you can find elsewhere!”

Knowing it was the old man’s goodwill, Bai Xiaosheng did not refuse and smiled, ”Sure.”

After the conversation, they parted ways, each heading in a different direction.

Under the guidance of the security chief, Bai Xiaosheng and the others headed straight into the dam, not stopping by the office to rest but going directly to the equipment room.

Entering the basement equipment room, they walked through and saw huge, never-before-seen machines, all in a halt state.

Bai Xiaosheng asked the security chief about the equipment status, but the latter knew nothing, being completely clueless.

At present, the technicians were not around, so they could only get a rough idea.

However, while walking, Bai Xiaosheng still asked Red Lotus to identify some obvious issues for his reference.

In the areas Red Lotus could analyze, Bai Xiaosheng received hundreds of issues.

This was not all, as almost every machine had various problems.

To repair them would be extremely tedious, and finding a highly skilled chief engineer would be necessary; otherwise, the equipment would have to be replaced.

However, replacing equipment would require modifying the existing structure, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and expensive.

Walking back and forth.

Bai Xiaosheng was feeling a bit of a headache, as the problem was far more severe than he had anticipated.

Glancing at the time, Bai Xiaosheng said to the security chief, ”Okay, we’ve seen enough here, thank you for your effort.”

”It’s my duty, my duty.” The security chief replied with a grin.

This entire trip had also exhausted him, and he was eager to finish early.

Everyone left the dam and walked out.

Bai Xiaosheng thought of old Rogge again and looked in a direction.

But he didn’t see him.

Right, at this hour, old Rogge must have left already.

Recalling what old Rogge said, leaving him a fish over there, Bai Xiaosheng led the group over.

After all, it was a kind gesture from the old man, and it shouldn’t be wasted.

Over there was a flat area, by the water was a small pool built with stones and sealed with cement.

Walking over, they noticed that there were a lot of strange designs drawn on the ground with tree branches, seemingly random doodles.

”This old man has such a refined interest, setting up a fishing rod while drawing, not afraid of the fish getting away.” Lin Weiwei said with a laugh.

Bai Xiaosheng initially didn’t mind, just smiling.

Walking over, everyone first looked into the pool.

Lei Ying couldn’t help but say, ”What a fat fish!”

A fish of about three or four pounds was happily swimming in the pool.

”This breed isn’t seen much; I’ll have to look up how to cook it when we get back.” Lin Weiwei rubbed her hands, eager to show off her cooking skills.

”I’ll get something for you, a container to take it with.” The security chief said hurriedly, heading back quickly.

Unintentionally glancing back, Bai Xiaosheng happened to see the chaotic designs under the security chief’s feet.

Just one look, and Bai Xiaosheng’s mind was buzzing.

That seemed... not to be random doodles, but some kind of structural diagram, even with brief data!

”Don’t move!” Bai Xiaosheng suddenly pointed at the security chief and shouted.

The chief was startled, stopping in his tracks, and said blankly, ”Wh-what?”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying also looked at Bai Xiaosheng in surprise.

Bai Xiaosheng was silent, staring intently at the designs on the ground, while in his mind, Red Lotus quickly reorganized and reconstructed those designs.

Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes narrowed.

The design drawn on the ground could actually be assembled like machinery, and it was part of the generator they just saw inside!

Could old Rogge sketch this casually while fishing?

Bai Xiaosheng stood in disbelief for a moment, then his eyes sparkled.

”Found a treasure!”
