The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Trust the Grandmother, Have a Baby Boy

In the main courtyard of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, Song Ruqi touched her ear, wondering why it felt so warm. Who was speaking ill of her behind her back?

”Go and change into something more comfortable first. You’ve gone out so early just to buy a few snacks. It’s touching that you’re thinking of your elder sister,” Madam said with a smile to Song Ruqi.

Song Ruqian, sitting on the Arhat bed, also chimed in, ”Exactly, go freshen up a bit. I’ll wait for you to come back before eating.”

Song Ruqi giggled and said, ”Then, elder sister and mother, you two chat. I’ll be right back.”

After bowing to them, she gracefully retreated.

Song Ruqian looked at her mother with some emotion and said, ”I haven’t seen her for a while, and Qi’er seems to have become more sensible. She even knows to buy treats to make me happy.”

Madam smiled and said, ”She’s been talking about you all the time. If I hadn’t stopped her from running around, she probably would have gone to the Gu Family to stay with you. But you and your sister have always been close, even before you got married, so it’s no wonder she’s thinking of you.”

Song Ruqian’s heart was joyous, and she said with a laugh, ”She’s thinking of you too, mother.”

”As long as she doesn’t make me angry, that’s a blessing,” Madam said, glancing at her slightly protruding belly. ”Is the baby behaving?”

Song Ruqian gently touched her belly and smiled softly, ”Not causing any trouble. It’s only been just over three months. The Imperial Physician said the baby wouldn’t start moving until four months along.”

”That sounds about right, maybe ten more days? Some start early, even at just over three months.”

”Hmm.”

”When I heard your pregnancy was unstable, I was scared to death. At that time, your grandmother was also unwell, and I couldn’t sleep all night, fearing something might go wrong with you both. Fortunately, you’re both well. That’s truly a relief,” Madam said, recalling the time when Song Ci was sick, still feeling a lingering fear.

Song Ruqian said, ”I’m sorry to have worried you, mother. You can rest assured now.”

Madam recalled what Song Ci had once mentioned and couldn’t help but ask if she had eaten more meat or vegetables before her pregnancy.

Song Ruqian felt a bit puzzled and said, ”Mother, you know I’ve never been fond of heavy meats. Even after marrying into the Gu Family, my meals have been mainly light and vegetarian.”

Hearing this, Madam seemed a bit disappointed. ”In that case, this child is likely to be a daughter.”

Song Ruqian paused for a moment. ”Why do you say that, mother?”

”Your grandmother mentioned some things. It’s not absolutely certain, but there’s some reasoning. I’m just sharing with you, but no need to spread it around,” Madam repeated what Song Ci had said.

Song Ruqian blushed, ”How could grandmother still talk about such things?”

It’s one thing to discuss diet, but to talk about bedroom matters and even positions—grandmother, she was too much.

”True or not, it doesn’t hurt to believe a little. Just take care of yourself. Even if this child is a girl, it doesn’t matter. A daughter of the Gu Family doesn’t have to worry about finding a spouse and is always cherished. For the next child, you should be more attentive, as your grandmother suggested, to plan carefully,” Madam gently instructed.

Song Ruqian covered her mouth, laughing gently, ”When did you start putting so much faith in grandmother’s words, mother?”

In the past, mother would often disagree with grandmother, thinking she was unrefined and old-fashioned, rarely holding her in such regard.

Madam coughed, lifting a teacup to hide her embarrassment, saying, ”Well, isn’t it said that an elder in a family is like a treasure? Listening doesn’t hurt. Your grandmother did have three sons, after all. Besides, it’s just about diet. Whatever you eat is still food. What if it’s really true?”

Song Ruqian teased, ”Exactly, trust grandmother’s words, and you’ll have a son. If you could really give us another little brother, it would surely be grandmother’s great blessing.”

Madam blushed and scolded her, ”Nonsense, you little rascal!”
