The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Striving to Live Another 10 to 8 Years

Chunhui Hall, a scene of joyful harmony.

This family banquet was divided into two tables: Song Ci with the men of the household at one, and Madam Song with the two daughters-in-law and the only two young ladies of the family at the other.

As for Old Master Song, it was said he took two concubines to some lakeside to go bird-watching, having sent word that he wouldn’t be back for the festival. Everyone in the manor was used to this master’s unpredictable comings and goings.

Song Ci looked at ’his’ second son Song Zhicheng, who, after freshening up, no longer resembled Wu Song. Yet, he was rough and burly, with a square face, bushy eyebrows, and big eyes, looking somewhat imposing and stern.

He was a completely different person from the shrewd elder son. As for the youngest son, he was lively yet not quite mature. Who knows what kind of character the yet-to-be-met third son had.

Oh, that would be his illegitimate son, born to a concubine.

”Mother, why are you staring at me without blinking?” Song Zhicheng said with a smile, ”Is there a flower on my face that’s got you so fascinated?”

”You think I’m your wife, looking at you till I’m mesmerized?” Song Ci blurted out, glancing at Jiang, who always had her eyes fixed on her husband.

Look at that little gaze, full of admiration and adoration, almost overflowing. It made her so excited.

Jiang, hearing Song Ci’s jest, turned as red as an apple and quickly lowered her head.

Lu, sitting on the other side, felt that the fragrant crispy meat in her mouth no longer tasted good anymore, feeling a bit sour.

Song Zhicheng also didn’t expect Song Ci to say that, he chuckled, ”My wife is undoubtedly totally smitten.”

Alright, he’s not very particular.

Song Ci rolled her eyes.

”Mother is safe and sound, that’s good. When I received the letter from home, I was so scared and rushed back, but within two days, I heard you’d woken up. My elder brother told me not to hurry, which is why I delayed and only returned to the manor now,” Song Zhicheng said apologetically, raising his wine glass, ”Mother, I am unfilial, I’ll punish myself with three cups as an apology.”

He drank one in one go and poured two more consecutively.

Song Ci suspected this son drank wine like it was water.

”What are you talking about, speaking like strangers in one family. Here I am, sitting perfectly fine. You all, don’t worry too much. I’ll try my best to live a bit longer,” Song Ci said.

Song Zhiyuan’s hand paused, and he set down his chopsticks.

Seeing this, everyone also put down their chopsticks and looked over.

Song Ci: ”Hey, why is everyone stopping, let’s eat.”

Song Zhiyuan: ”Mother, those words just now, you mustn’t say them again, you will live a long life.”

Song Ci quickly nodded, ”Yes, yes, yes.” But inwardly, she thought, living a long life wasn’t possible; she’d aim for another ten or eight years.

Lu gave her son a look, and Song Lingzhou stood up and said, ”Grandmother, today I learned a poem, let me recite it for you.”

”Good.”

Song Lingzhou stood tall, reciting clearly: ”With intentions to solemnly celebrate Dragon Boat Festival, one mustn’t forget Double Ninth Festival. Nine-leaf calamus, golden clusters in hand, sailing together on translucent glasses.”

Song Ci, being uneducated, could not immediately grasp the meaning of the poem but found it extremely amusing to see her little chubby darling shaking his head and reciting it aloud, clapping her hands in praise.

Seeing this, Madam also signaled to her son, and Song Lingsu said, ”I also have a poem, ’White hair hangs down shoulders nearly a foot long, thirty-five Dragon Boat Festivals away from home...’”

Song Zhiyuan stroked his beard and nodded in secret approval, not bad.

”Grandmother, let me perform a sword dance for you,” Song Lingzhao asked someone to bring a peach wood sword and started displaying his sword skills, while his twin brother played the flute.

The youngest, Song Zhiyu, scratched his head, feeling indifferent, as if those nephews made him seem uncultured.

”Mother, watch as Fourth Brother performs a magic trick for you,” Song Zhiyu said with a ’ha’ as he pulled out a maid’s handkerchief from behind, played with it with an air of mystery, and then produced a flower, handing it to Song Ci.

Song Ci took the flower, smiling with curved eyes; my boys really are thoughtful.
