The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Dug a Hole for Myself, Feel Like Crying

Empress Dowager Wang began to chatter with Song Ci, and after listening for about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Song Ci responded with ’Mm, you’re right, no doubt about it,’ yet she also managed to grasp the personality of the distinguished lady in front of her.

Oh my, it turns out this Empress Dowager Wang is quite the chatterbox and a grumpy old timer, no, grumpy elder!

Look at how she slaps her thigh so loudly, that first glance and the way she looks at you, actually feigning such a dignified aura, isn’t it?

”Ah Ci, tell me, all of my family is gone, why should they continue to enjoy fortune, just because they share the same surname and clan as me? Ah pfft, my family is all dead, and those who were closest to me, not even a single one left to continue the family line, what talk is there of clan or lineage?” Empress Dowager Wang said with a cold laugh.

Song Ci couldn’t help but softly remind her, ”Lady, you should say it’s your family, your large family is all safe and well.”

What family, the Emperor is her son, and the children and grandchildren in the palace, the Empress and concubines, are her true big family.

Empress Dowager Wang: ”...”

She was just getting into character, how could Ah Ci interrupt her, and how was she supposed to continue?

Empress Dowager Wang said sulkily, ”Indeed, it should be said as my family’s people. Alas, they are greedy, a loyal Count wasn’t enough, they even wanted a loyal Duke, huh, their ambitions were really grand. Back when the former Emperor was at war, and my son and I were in distress as commoners, they didn’t even extend a hand to help with hiding us, my family’s men all died in battle, the women all hung themselves with a white silk on the beam, yet they were just fine, you say there’s nothing fishy about it, I absolutely don’t believe it. Even if they had spared just one sole survivor for me, it wouldn’t have ended up like this.”

Saying this, Empress Dowager Wang couldn’t help but tear up.

Lian Qiao quickly handed her a handkerchief, ”Empress Dowager, please take care of your health.”

Empress Dowager Wang took it and wiped the corner of her eye, saying, ”I just can’t get over this injustice. Ah Ci, others don’t know, but you do, just how arduous the times were for me and the Emperor back then.”

Song Ci said, ”Lady, what’s gone is gone, and life goes on, don’t be too sad, otherwise your family’s people should also feel sorry for you.”

”I can’t help it,” Empress Dowager sniffled, saying, ”For all these years, they’ve been talking about adopting an heir, wasn’t it for the sake of a Duke’s title, as if they truly wished to pass down the Wang family’s line? No, it’s all for honor.”

”But Lady, dragging it on year after year isn’t a solution, your line needs someone to continue the family name, to burn paper offerings and incense for your family during the festivals. If you detest them so much, why don’t you personally select someone, choose one who has no parents, to put it bluntly, like you, the only one. Don’t worry too much about their merits, you personally mentor him, and in the future, if he has a few sons, isn’t that better than what they’ve nominated?” Song Ci suggested, ”Only the lone one will be truly devoted to your line.”

Empress Dowager Wang hesitated, ”Me teaching? At my age?”

”Couldn’t you find reliable people to help you teach him? You are the Empress Dowager, you must have some capable people by your side.” Song Ci held back from rolling her eyes, this lady, is she perhaps still a naive sweetie?

Empress Dowager Wang’s eyes lit up, ”Yes, Ah Ci, I picked such a person. How about you and Yunzhi help me teach him? The ones I trust most are you and Yunzhi.”

Song Ci had just taken a sip of tea, and sprayed it out upon hearing this.

What?

Did she just dig a hole for herself?

Meanwhile, Song Zhiyuan, who had just reached the front of Tai Chi Palace, sneezed, rubbed his arms, and felt as if a cold wind had passed over his back, giving him the chills.
