The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 112: Chapter 112 Enjoying the Benefits of Being Madam Taifu

As the first ray of morning sunlight hit the glazed tiles of the Palace, Song Ci arrived at the West Gate of the Imperial Palace in a carriage, and with Nanny’s hand for support, she stepped down onto the footstool and got off the carriage, greeted by a scene of golden splendor that made her squint her eyes slightly.

”The Imperial Palace,” Song Ci muttered softly.

It was not a film set, nor the Historical Heavenly Dynasty Palace with no living ancestors, but the real Imperial Palace, guarded by soldiers with weapons, and eunuchs with clasped hands approached in quick, small steps.

”This humble one greets Madam Song and greets Imperial Decree Madam Song.” A eunuch with a pale, hairless face smiled and flicked his horsetail whisk, bending over and half kneeling to salute Song Ci.

Song Ci, holding Nanny’s hand, smiled and called him to rise.

She didn’t know this young eunuch, but that didn’t prevent her from showing a friendly smile.

Madam Song also held the hand of her personal maid, Shaoyao, and said they could dispense with the formalities.

”This humble one is Xiaonianzi of Kunning Palace, sent by the Empress to welcome the Imperial Decree Madam. The Empress, recognizing Madam’s advanced age and delicate health, has specially bestowed a vine sedan chair for Madam, to spare her the fatigue of walking.” Xiaonianzi explained with a smile, while pointing at a small sedan chair not far away.

Song Ci looked over, indeed seeing a small sedan chair parked there, with two robust eunuchs standing by, and couldn’t help but feel secretly pleased.

Oh wow, the Empress really is considerate.

It’s not that Song Ci is unwilling to walk, if it were her own body, she could stroll through this vast Imperial Palace till her legs gave out. But at present, she was a frail, skinny old lady in delicate health, and more importantly, she was wearing the heavy Imperial Decree Clothes and a headpiece weighing about ten pounds, which was exhausting.

Song Ci smiled and bowed towards Kunning Palace, saying, ”This old woman thanks the Empress for her grace.”

She was truly enjoying the benefits of being the highest-ranking Madam.

Madam Song supported Song Ci, saying, ”Mother, you go ahead in the sedan chair, I will follow shortly.”

She did not receive a vine sedan chair and had to walk laboriously.

Song Ci said, ”Then it’s troublesome for you.”

Madam Song helped her into the vine sedan chair, then signaled Shaoyao to give a reward, handing a wallet to each eunuch, politely saying, ”Our Imperial Decree Madam is weak, so I trouble you gentlemen to take care of her.”

The eunuchs, happy to receive the reward, smiled and Xiaonianzi said, ”Rest assured Madam Song, this humble one will certainly serve attentively.”

Song Ci got into the sedan chair, sat securely, and placed her hands on the armrests of the vine chair, nodding towards Nanny.

Upon seeing this, Xiaonianzi chanted an order for departure, and the eunuchs carrying the sedan chair lifted it steadily and headed towards the Harem.

Seeing Nanny walking along beside the sedan chair at a steady pace, Song Ci patted the armrest and said to the eunuchs carrying the chair, ”If there are any other noble ladies yet to arrive, go a little slower, so this old woman can admire the scenery of the Imperial Palace.”

”Go slower, slower,” Xiaonianzi immediately instructed.

The speed indeed slowed down.

Song Ci looked at Nanny, and seeing her gaze over, she winked and mouthed a few words.

Walk slowly, so the legs don’t tire.

Nanny smiled, feeling a slight warmth in her heart.

She is considerate of her.

Seeing that she understood, Song Ci looked towards the scenery inside the palace.

The early morning Imperial Palace seemed not yet awake, with palaces connected in layers, the golden glazed tiles dazzling under the sunlight, while the golden dragons carved on the flying eaves appeared lifelike, truly majestic and grand.

Walking through the palace alleys, the eunuchs and palace maids all walked with their heads lowered, silent and soundless, while in the distance, there seemed to be the sound of horses neighing, likely the guards patrolling the palace or some high-ranking official urgently entering the palace.

Sitting in the sedan chair, Song Ci safely arrived in front of the hall doors of Kunning Palace.
