The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 140: Chapter 140 Not Interested

Didn’t fancy her.

Song Zhiyu was munching on a juicy and flavorful crab soup bun, thinking to himself that his mother’s little kitchen made the best crab soup buns that suited his taste. As he took a bite, the fresh juice was so rich it nearly swallowed his tongue.

Swallowing the bun, Song Zhiyu continued complaining about Wang Qiuman, ”Let’s put it this way, any other girl who saw me pull a pigeon out of thin air would be blushing with excitement and joy, right? But not her; she even exposed my trick. Tell me, where can you find a girl like that?”

The girl he imagined looked at him with eyes sparking like stars, which was far from the overly calm Wang Qiuman.

”And here’s the thing, Mom, she’s practically an old maid already! You fancy that? She’s even older than me. I’m a famously handsome young man in the capital, how could I pair with an old maid...”

As Song Zhiyu spoke, he automatically went silent because he felt a chill down his spine; the situation didn’t seem good.

He turned his head and saw his mother glaring at him with squinted eyes.

Song Zhiyu grinned, ”Mom?”

He had a gut feeling his mom wanted to hit him. Should he stay or run?

”Old maid? She’s just seventeen years old, how is that old? She’s only a year older than you, but she’s more sensible. Plus, she comes with a hefty dowry.” Song Ci almost laughed in anger, feeling that this kid had an overinflated self-esteem.

”Mom, just for those filthy lucre, you’re going to sell your handsome, charming, and dashing fourth son?”

”Oh wow, ’filthy lucre’, listen to you despising it. Your mom here is just a big mundane person; the more of that, the better. If I were to die under a pile of it, that would be great.” Song Ci chuckled, ”You dare to despise it, when everything from top to toe on you was exchanged for that filthy lucre? That piece of green jade on your head, can you make it appear out of thin air without money? Fine then, you grumble so much, Gong Ma, go and collect all the silver coins from his courtyard later.”

Seeing Song Ci seemed angry, Song Zhiyu immediately dropped his chopsticks, wrapped his arm around her playfully, and flattered, ”Oh my dear Mom, this foul-mouthed fourth son was just babbling nonsense. I’m not despising it, just worried you’ll matchmake wrongly, huh? I just like pretty, younger girls than me.”

”Yeah, right, cut it out.” Song Ci pushed him, ”You have no official title or rank, aside from idle chatter and cockfighting, you have no proper career. Even if there is a cute girl, how could you match with her?”

Song Zhiyu looked incredulous, ”Mom, my elder brother is the Prime Minister, do I need those things?”

Haha, I see you’re very proud and arrogant, very naturally resorting to name-dropping your brother!

”When your father and I pass away, you all will have to split up eventually, no? When you get married, I’ll divide the family then. What will you use to support your household?” Song Ci said solemnly, ”Relying on a mountain, it will collapse; relying on people, they will run. Ultimately, you must rely on yourself, that is the right path.”

Song Zhiyu finally showed a horrified expression, then reached out to touch Song Ci’s forehead, ”Mom, are you having a hysterical episode, why are you scaring me like this?”

Song Ci: ”...”

Fine, this brat hasn’t grown up; it’s impossible to reason with him.

Oh dear, my heart attack is about to act up!

Song Ci pointed to the door, ”I’ll be driven crazy by you sooner or later; go on, talking to you is pointless.”

Song Zhiyu hurriedly stood up, massaging her shoulders, and laughed cheekily, ”Mom, with my naturally affluent life, why worry about the future? You even gave birth to me handsome as a jade boy, so many young ladies fancy my face. Don’t worry, I’ll surely bring back a beautiful wife for you.”

Song Ci was speechless. In terms of having thick skin and being shameless, her fourth son was number one. Who else could boast so shamelessly?
