The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Discussing the Old Lady’s Combat Power

Standing in front of the gates of Kunning Palace, looking at the name plaque hanging above, Song Ci felt a bit dazed, as though she were in ancient times, yet her heart returned to the moment when she visited the Imperial Palace years ago.

The butterfly dream of Zhuang Zhou, perhaps.

”Madam,” the palace nanny supported Song Ci’s hand.

Song Ci snapped back to reality and said, ”Are we going in now?”

The palace nanny shook her head, ”We must wait to be summoned.”

”Oh.”

Voices arose again, and Song Ci turned her head to see, also carried on a wicker sedan chair, a woman with graying hair and deeper wrinkles than her own, clad in the same Imperial Decree Clothes.

Who is this...

”It’s the Madam from the Prime Minister Fan’s Mansion,” the palace nanny quietly informed her.

Oh, it’s the old mother of her family’s eldest son’s nemesis.

Heh, she looks even older than Song Ci, with that heavy golden crown; she must be more burdened than I am.

Song Ci felt a bit comforted.

She’s not the only one suffering.

”Ah, isn’t this the Song Family’s Madam? I heard you’ve recovered well?” Madam Fan had already arrived in front of her, greeting Song Ci even before getting off her chair.

Song Ci replied, ”Thanks to your blessing, I can still stand here and wish the Lady good health.”

Honestly, since this old lady can see her, it’s not like she’s blind. If she weren’t well, she wouldn’t be standing here calmly, now would she, unless she were looking for trouble.

Madam Fan was choked by this, feeling slightly upset. Thanks to your blessing, is she calling her old?

She looked down on Song Ci. Even though Song Ci had an official rank, she was still no more than a crude peasant woman who stumbled onto the farm, unworthy of being compared to herself, a real embarrassment.

”When I heard you were unwell, my heart was really up and down. Amitabha, it’s good that you’ve recovered,” Madam Fan said with concern, coming forward. ”We’re not young anymore, you need to take it easy. Life before was hard, and you must take care in the future. You just recovered; you can really ask for leave from the Lady, who is kind and certainly would allow it, no need to wear yourself out.”

Song Ci nearly wanted to prop her drooping eyelids open with a toothpick, to clearly see this old lady in front of her. What, is she using concern to subtly mock her?

They are both of the same Imperial Decree status; who is nobler than whom?

Heh, if it’s a power play you want.

Song Ci put on a very moved expression, stepping forward to grasp Madam Fan’s hand with feigned excitement, ”Older sister, ah, you are more than ten years my senior, so I’ll shamelessly call you older sister. Your words truly hit my heart. We’re both old bones with one foot in the grave, indeed should take care. So now I’ve seen it clearly, eat when hungry, drink when thirsty, and don’t meddle in young people’s affairs. What could be better than being alive?”

”As for asking for leave, honestly, I just recovered, and I did want to ask for leave, but the Empress Dowager said she missed me, so I couldn’t refuse and had to come to wish the Lady good health. Ah, older sister, take care, we must both take care, after all, we’re not young anymore.”

These words, full of sarcasm and insinuation.

Madam Fan was defeated, stifled by the acerbic words.

Just at this moment, Bi Luo, the lady from Kunning Palace, came out with a smile and said the Empress invited the two Madams inside for an audience.

Both were of the same Imperial Decree rank, so who should go first?

Madam Fan’s eyes flickered slightly, just about to step forward.

Song Ci: ”Older sister, you are older than me, so let this little sister support you as we walk. I’ve been working all year round, and my legs are still stronger.”

Without waiting for Madam Fan to speak, Song Ci had already taken hold of her hand.

Madam Fan’s face stiffened. Oh, how grateful I am to you, calling me ’older sister’ at every turn. Who the hell is your sister, and no need to remind me that I’m older than you!
