The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Sisters-in-law

The next day, Madam Song felt refreshed and had a rosy complexion as she sat in the floral hall where she managed the household affairs, waiting for the steward maids to report and take their assignments.

Second Madam Song and Third Madam Song arrived together, and when they saw the radiant face of the person seated in a high position, they exchanged a glance with a smile.

”It truly is that a joyful event makes people feel great. Look at that radiant face, even an eighteen-year-old girl can’t compare to you,” Jiang said playfully.

Madam Song’s face turned even redder as she replied teasingly, ”Your tongue, no one can win against it. In a few days, I suppose you will be just like me, with a rosy complexion every day.”

Jiang smiled with her mouth closed, feeling some anticipation.

Indeed, the father of her child was already on the way. Once he returned, wouldn’t it relieve the pain of longing?

Thinking of the medicine she had been taking and the acupuncture she had received recently, Jiang touched her belly, her face full of expectation, praying that heaven would have mercy and return the child she had lost.

The Lu Madam sat with a smile on her face, but her eyes showed some gloom, and in her heart, she felt a deep sorrow.

Having a husband away and guarding an empty room was truly unbearable. She wondered how her husband was faring in Shanxi.

Madam Song noticed Lu Madam’s sad and pensive appearance, feeling slightly regretful, realizing that there was indeed someone who truly had to keep an empty room.

She cleared her throat and said, ”Second sister-in-law, third sister-in-law, it’s May Day in a few days, and after the Dragon Boat Festival, the eighth is my birthday. I’ve already decided on the guest list, there are also a few lists from the Prime Minister’s side. By then, I will need your help to manage the event.”

Both stood up quickly, saying, ”We’re ordinarily idle. If you have any instructions, just let us know.”

Madam Song continued, ”The Dragon Boat Festival gifts have been sent, but the birthday banquet will be crowded and disorderly. I’d like to ask you two to help manage it. By then, could Second Sister-in-law oversee the kitchen and Third Sister-in-law help entertain the guests?”

Lu said, ”Sister-in-law, your guidance is greatly appreciated. I am truly grateful. However, I just returned from Shanxi recently and haven’t recognized all the people in many of the residences in the capital. Why not let Second Sister-in-law handle the reception, and I’ll oversee the kitchen?”

”This...”

”Actually, the kitchen doesn’t require much attention. The meals just need to be organized at the right time. Why not have Third Sister-in-law meet the people first and then go to the kitchen once the banquet begins?” Jiang suggested.

In her heart, Lu didn’t really want to give up the chance to meet people. After all, the main reason she returned to the capital was to help her husband establish contacts in the household. What she just said was partly because she didn’t recognize many people, and partly to please her two elder sisters-in-law.

Now that Jiang offered her a way out, she naturally took the opportunity, saying, ”In that case, I’ll do as Second Sister-in-law suggests.”

Madam Song smiled and said, ”Then it’s settled. There are also two young girls who should help entertain their friends. By then, Qian’er will also return to help me entertain.”

”Qian’er can come back? Is her pregnancy stable?” Jiang, eager for a daughter, was also very fond of her niece.

Madam Song said, ”Her pregnancy has reached three months and is considered stable. I’ve already sent someone to inform us, and she’ll come with her mother-in-law to the celebration.”

”Amitabha, that’s wonderful news.” Jiang clasped her hands together and uttered a Buddhist prayer.

”Congratulations, Sister-in-law, soon you’ll become a grandmother,” Lu said with a smile to express her congratulations.

Madam Song beamed with joy. Having been elevated to the rank of first-class Imperial Decree, having a pregnant daughter, and a caring husband, indeed warranted Lu’s congratulations. If she could have another son, everything would be perfect.
