Chapter 250: Chapter 249: Escape Mission

Could the person who arranged this ritual be Teng Beng?

Why is the hospital director involved in this? He seemed to have been a powerful Extraordinary when he was alive.

From the current information, it seems that this director was either taken out by other Hunters, or he was killed by Teng Beng.

”They probably had a conflict for some reason, then internal strife, and finally, Teng Beng’s faction won. Hmm, then Teng Beng successfully took down the ’Tailor’ and rose to the position of leader... quite dramatic, though somewhat cliché.”

Su Changxing logically inferred that this should be the general sequence of events, though there might be some differences in the details.

He returned to the mirror to check, confirming all three sides were shattered into countless fine particles.

Immediately after, his phone vibrated.

Su Changxing’s heart skipped a beat, guessing it might be a mission prompt — they had been fighting for so long without a mission, and suddenly a mission appeared now.

It seemed like a bad omen.

[Side Mission: You came to extinguish the Hunters, and just as you were about to succeed, a sudden change occurred. The situation might be more serious than you imagined.

1. Escape the hospital alone. (Gain a random attribute boost)

2. Escape the hospital with one-third of the people, including at least two Extraordinary. (Reward two random mysterious items)

3. Escape the hospital with half of the people, including at least four Extraordinary. (Reward a high-quality random mysterious item)

4. Escape the hospital with everyone remaining. (Gain a special ability, plus reward of a high-quality random mysterious item)]

Seeing the mission information, his expression turned grim; the situation might indeed be more severe than he had estimated.

One thing was certain — the richer the rewards of the mission, the more difficult it was, and since it was an escape mission, it indicated that escaping would be very difficult, putting them in great danger.

But now, he still didn’t know exactly what had happened.

They had to deal with the red-clothed person first; doing so would allow them to regain control, which was a prerequisite for escaping.

Su Changxing sprinted through the reading room, racing down the corridor towards the end; the surrounding space distorted, a soft white light appearing before him.

He returned to where the old man had been; the blood from the three bodies on the ground hadn’t completely dried yet, though the wounds had started to oxidize and open.

After an Extraordinary perishes, it seems they lose their distinct characteristics, becoming similar to Ordinary People.

Su Changxing continued running ahead, shouting, ”Shang Benqing, you’re not asleep, right? Others might come to meet here soon, so be careful.”

A voice came from one of the rooms, ”No, no, I’m still good.”

He reached the end of the corridor near the stairs where space distorted again, bringing Su Changxing into a new environment he hadn’t visited before, with white light poles hanging on the walls.

”Da da da~”

Chaotic footsteps.

”Who’s there?”

Su Changxing glanced at the people approaching, his expression relaxing slightly, saying, ”It’s me.”

The newcomers were Zhu Wenwu, Geng Yong, and others, totaling over a dozen to twenty people, many of whom were injured.

Zhu Wenwu greeted him joyfully, ”Brother Su, how did you get here? We’ve been circling around this place for a long time.”

They had been trying to meet up with others or find other Hunters, but kept going in circles within this place.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and said, ”Their control over this space must have weakened, which allowed me to come over... How’s your situation?”

Zhu Wenwu, with blood on his face, said, ”Not bad, we fought with the remaining Hunters and suffered heavy casualties, but at least we won.”

”Nicely done.”

Su Changxing smiled and continued, ”I have a plan now, but new problems have arisen.”

Zhu Wenwu, with tacit understanding, said, ”We all received similar missions to escape here, and though the mission rewards are quite tempting, it doesn’t feel like a good thing.”

Su Changxing nodded, saying, ”If possible, let’s just leave this place; the situation is unexpected, and most of the Hunters are dead, so we’ve basically achieved our goal.”

Zhu Wenwu looked back at the people behind him and asked,

”So what do we do now?”

Geng Yong held his abdomen, frowning deeply; his wound seemed severe, as a Control Class Extraordinary, he’d certainly be targeted.

Su Changxing moved forward, saying, ”Follow me to find the others and meet at the upper floors.”

The group followed Su Changxing, supporting and carrying the wounded onward, but their speed was limited.

Geng Yong took a deep breath and said, ”This place seems to be a false loop space; we’ve tried both directions but can’t get out.”

The floor consisted of several laboratories equipped with sophisticated equipment, some of which Su Changxing couldn’t identify, presumably unique to this world, though many required power, rendering them obsolete post-apocalypse.

Su Changxing nodded, understanding, ”Let’s try once more; it might be a fake loop that can’t be sustained permanently.”

The red-clothed person was shot by him and probably sustained considerable damage. Plus, the fact that Teng Beng chose to negotiate with him suggested that their power couldn’t last past nightfall.

Reaching the end, the space distorted, and they indeed returned to the previous location.

Su Changxing headed back again, but the result was the same as they returned to the starting point, as if nothing had changed with his arrival.

Luckily, they had numbers to keep morale up, as one or two people could easily lose their minds in such a situation.

Su Changxing sensed the subtle spatial changes, reiterating, ”Let’s try again.”

He led the group along the corridor, their previously chaotic footsteps gradually synchronizing. The corridor wasn’t long and could be traversed within a minute if they moved quickly, although it was hard for the injured, who had to be supported.

No extraneous sounds resonated, only the dry thud of footsteps.

By the twelfth attempt, Su Changxing felt more dramatic spatial changes, the light dimming, the sound of dripping water hitting his ears, and pipes covering the walls.

They had reached the underground level.

”So, it’s here.”

Su Changxing raised his eyebrows, sensing that this place seemed to be the intersection of many spaces.

Zhu Wenwu glanced around, asking, ”Where is this?”

Su Changxing led the way toward Yu Jieyi’s group, saying, ”Yu Jieyi and some injured are here. Let’s take them and keep moving.”

Soon, they saw Zhou An and others approaching them.
