Chapter 233: Chapter 232: Reinforcements

Gone?

Zhu Wenwu hid inside the room, leaning by the window, looking at the spot from before, and saw that they had already vanished.

Based on their previous speed, they shouldn’t have left his sight unless they suddenly sped up or went in another direction.

He’s very likely been discovered.

Zhu Wenwu held the steel sword, which gleamed with a silver and cold light, calmly, fully perceiving the surroundings. For some reason, he still couldn’t change his marked target, which limited his power accordingly.

It’s quiet here; he couldn’t hear the howls of zombies or any other sounds, just his own breath rising and falling steadily.

After waiting for more than ten minutes and nothing happening, just as Zhu Wenwu thought they had left, he heard slight footsteps by his ear, and his mind pictured several Hunters approaching him.

”Is it here? Are you sure there’s someone else here?”

A man with a shadowy look in the corner of his eye frowned and said.

Another person, wearing a gray hard leather hat and whose skin was so pale it made him look young, nodded, glanced at the building where Zhu Wenwu was, and said with a smile:

”I’m pretty sure this is the place. There are fresh marks on the windowsill; he just went inside...”

”Be careful, although there’s nothing much to be careful about.”

...

Zhu Wenwu frowned; he didn’t expect these Hunters to chat openly outside the building, acting as if they had him cornered.

Have they not realized I’m an Extraordinary?

That seems to be it.

A fierce light flashed in his eyes as he pressed his body against the wall, trying to calm his breathing.

”Boom~”

The door was kicked open, wood chips scattered across the ground, and the wind lifted the dust.

”No one?”

Several Hunters looked around but didn’t find anyone, just a room full of dilapidated furniture.

The one wearing the hard leather hat gestured and said: ”Upstairs, be careful not to get caught off guard.”

A middle-aged man holding a thick machete went up first.

This thick machete was old, with blood stains on it, looking quite unclean.

Zhu Wenwu heard the sound of boots stepping on the stone stairs from the corridor, tightened his grip on the sword, knowing he had to take one out first, or it would be a dead end for him.

Although these Hunters’ abilities weakened during the day, his were too. Unable to use his marked ability, his combat capability was halved.

Zhu Wenwu hid behind the wall of the stairs, and at the moment he sensed someone coming up, he lunged out and slashed at the opponent with his sword.

The space here was small, leaving the man holding the machete no room to dodge. He reacted quickly, blocking Zhu Wenwu’s attack with one strike and shouted:

”He’s a Power User.”

The pressure from the sword handle almost made the man lose his grip.

Zhu Wenwu kicked hard on the man’s abdomen, then turned around and ran, while the man staggered back four or five steps, almost falling down the stairs.

”What are you afraid of? He ran away.”

The man with the hard leather hat saw Zhu Wenwu running and shouted.

Then, he bypassed the man from the side and chased after Zhu Wenwu, as though a dark mist enveloped him, spreading in the room.

Zhu Wenwu immediately felt the room darken, realizing those guys behind him were up to no good... These Hunters seemed insane, attacking anyone who wasn’t one of them.

He rushed to the balcony and jumped down, landing heavily on the ground without much technique, relying on his physical strength to withstand the impact of the fall.

The three Hunters from upstairs followed and jumped down, surrounding him.

Zhu Wenwu observed closely, confirming these were not the Hunters from last night, and made some calculations in his mind.

Su Changxing had just messaged him saying he’d arrive soon, so he only needed to buy time.

Before Zhu Wenwu could speak, the man with the hard leather hat looked at him and questioned:

”How did you get here?”

Zhu Wenwu showed a surprised expression and said, ”I walked, of course. Do you expect I caught a cab here?”

”Are you looking to die?”

The man with the hard leather hat was ready to make a move.

Zhu Wenwu’s eyes widened slightly, and he shouted, ”Wait a minute, I want to know why you’re attacking me...”

They looked at each other, somewhat surprised that Zhu Wenwu didn’t know their identity.

But the man with the hard leather hat quickly realized that the other side probably thought they were humans from the same world, which was typical.

After all, they didn’t usually appear during the day.

The man with the hard leather hat understood, relaxed a bit, and smiled:

”So, brother, you’re from that nearby settlement.”

Zhu Wenwu seemed to relax a little, lowered his weapon, and said:

”Me? I’m just wandering around alone, passing by here. But recently, I’m planning to join that settlement to the east; I heard there are many Extraordinaries there.”

”Many?”

The man with the hard leather hat was stunned. He knew the so-called Extraordinaries by these humans from the Otherworld were their Power Users, and he said solemnly:

”How many? I haven’t heard of that.”

This wasn’t good news for them. These Otherworld humans already outnumbered them significantly, and having a considerable number of Extraordinaries could reverse their positions.

Gusts of cool wind blew from afar, and around noon, the air was slightly stifling, contrasting sharply with the night’s cold.

”Let me think...”

Zhu Wenwu’s face showed a hint of coldness, ”Enough to kill you!”

Without warning, he slashed fiercely at the closest person.

The man with the hard leather hat stepped forward, raising an axe to Zhu Wenwu’s back, but a sharp pain shot through his brow, and he quickly retreated and turned his head.

”Whoosh~”

An arrow grazed the man’s scalp, embedding itself in the adjacent wall, leaving a crack.

”Who?”

The Hunters simultaneously turned to where the arrow came from, but saw no one.

Zhu Wenwu took the opportunity to slice a long, thin wound across the chest of the machete-wielding Hunter. Even without his ability, he was faster than the opponent.

The Hunters indeed weakened significantly during the day.

The unseen presence pressured them immensely, and the three Hunters immediately closed in on Zhu Wenwu, deciding to take out one first.

Waves of the wind blew by.

A black shadow appeared above the four and fell rapidly.

The man with the hard leather hat only noticed the presence of the person then, realizing the target was him.

The shadow of death loomed over his face.

He instinctively judged he was on a path to death, the gap in strength being too vast, leaving him no room to struggle.
