Chapter 245: Chapter 244: Days Gone By at the Hospital

”Boom~”

A big hole was blasted out of the wall with words on it.

The gray silhouette lay motionless on the ground, as if blood was flowing on the floor.

Su Changxing frowned, realizing that the bullet had not been obstructed and passed straight through the gray silhouette.

A blue ball with stains on its surface bounced off the wall in the impact and then rolled to the ground, coming to rest next to the gray silhouette.

Dark mist swirled around the gray silhouette, belonging to some sort of memory collection, which seemed to form the gray silhouette.

These memories were in the form of dreams, and Su Changxing could directly manipulate them, especially after his promotion to Extreme Rank, making such abilities more intuitive, as if he was born with them.

In a short time, Su Changxing skimmed through these memory fragments. There were many people’s memories, chaotic and disordered, very fragmented. Despite his strong spiritual power, he still felt dizzy.

This was a hospital and also a research institute, just as Su Changxing and the others had speculated before. Moreover, in these memories, there were many traces of Shield Company. People in Shield Company uniforms often came here.

Most of these memories remained from before the doomsday. Although this was a secret research facility, there were no bloody experiments, at most blood draws, extractions of subcutaneous tissues, photos, etc.

This facility was also for controlling these naturally powerful and problematic humans.

Life here was very calm, with blue skies, green trees, and warm breezes, very peaceful without much to worry about. In the mornings, someone whistled, and in the evenings, someone painted in the woods.

There were many people here, many ”patients,” and many ”doctors.”

Certain special abilities did indeed cause physical harm. There was a boy who could move objects with his mind and was already gray-haired at the age of twelve, his body nearing exhaustion.

He had to maintain a very strict lifestyle to live longer.

His dream was to one day rid himself of this ability, become a normal person, live longer, and lead a normal life.

Of course, there were also those who lived very long. There seemed to be an old man who had lived for many years, both a ”patient” of this hospital and one of its creators.

Under his leadership, everyone was like a family, often gathering for dinner in the evenings and listening to him tell stories of the past.

He seemed to have worked in Shield Company before, way back when Shield Company was not a prominent company.

However, the real head of the hospital was not him, but the director, a kind and amiable fat man who didn’t often show up, frequently going out.

The only thing to worry about in the hospital was those people dressed in red patient uniforms. Their spirit was in an abnormal state due to their abilities, which could be very dangerous.

They generally stayed underground, rarely coming out, like being confined, so there wasn’t much of an issue.

In one girl’s memory, there was a young man in a red patient uniform who would occasionally run out, disturbing everyone in the hospital.

Every time he sneaked out, the whole hospital would be in a state of chaos.

However, she found it quite amusing, adding joy to the peaceful life, though she couldn’t understand how he always managed to get out.

The entrance to the underground was always locked, with someone always guarding it.

······

”This should be the same person.”

Su Changxing instinctively judged that this frequently escaping ”patient” was the red-clad figure, having a similar body shape.

Looking towards the end of the girl’s memories.

Sitting on the swing under a hospital tree, the girl looked at the boy in the red patient uniform beside her and asked, ”Why are you locked down there?”

The boy thought for a moment and said, ”I might harm others, but I still want to get some fresh air.”

······

These were all memories from before the doomsday, becoming vague afterwards.

Su Changxing looked around, curling his lips upwards:

”You don’t need to play tricks; you’re nearby, aren’t you, or have you been watching me all along? How long have you been here? Ten years, twenty years?”

As soon as he finished speaking, the gray silhouette on the ground began to tremble, constantly changing shape, appearing as different people.

Su Changxing’s eyes widened slightly, suddenly raising his gun to shoot at the corner where firefighting equipment was placed.

[The Divergent Mole is hiding in the corner watching you]

”Boom~”

The bullet spun out of the gun barrel, cutting through the space.

This time, Su Changxing clearly felt the change in the surrounding space. The bullet seemed to fly in a straight line but actually formed a curve in the space.

The space had always been twisted.

But due to the ”Pistol Enthusiast” reason, the bullet made certain corrections, thus appearing as a curve.

”Bang~”

The bullet hit the wall at the corner, blasting out a large hole.

As expected, it veered off.

The next moment, Su Changxing decisively dashed forward with a machete, as the other had the ability to manipulate space, making it hard to hit them with a bullet from a distance.

As he got closer, he saw a shadow standing at the corner, tilting its head, watching him, like a ghost shadow.

The blade cut through the air, producing a sharp screech, heavily striking the iron, red firefighting equipment.

”You’re good at hiding?”

Su Changxing said coldly.

The distance between them was only a step, allowing him to clearly see the appearance of the red-clad figure beneath the hair, with white keratin peeling up on the skin, much like other Hunters.

Moreover, in his chest was a slender steel nail piercing through his body, but no blood flowed, as if it were some kind of ornament.

The red-clad figure calmly watched him and merely said:

”Those who betray the Lord are destined to be abandoned by the Lord.”

Su Changxing didn’t understand what he was talking about; it sounded mysterious. The red-clad figure was not mentally sound. He raised the blade again, ready to strike while the surrounding space changed once more.

”Smash~”

Su Changxing cut down on a statue, shattering it into pieces. The red-clad figure’s position had already moved to his side.

His expression was not good, feeling toyed with.

The red-clad figure widened his eyes and calmly said:

”Perhaps we are doomed, but you have no right to kill us, so why don’t you retreat?”

Retreat?

Was this a negotiation?

Su Changxing found it hard to gauge the other party’s intentions, unclear if they were at their wits’ end or genuinely wanted to negotiate.

Analyzing rationally, the possibility of them being at their limit was high; everything has its bounds, even a world may one day be near doomsday.

Manipulating space isn’t a simple task; reaching the limits of such an ability is quite normal.

Su Changxing observed the surroundings slightly. He had seen this place from outside before, thinking it was an exhibition room of sorts, but now it looked more like a projection room······ The front of the room bore a massive screen covering the entire wall.
