Chapter 211: Chapter 210: The Strange Corpse

Feng Hua Mao: As long as the information you provide is valuable.

This person was quite straightforward, without any bargaining, but in Su Changxing’s mind, the true value of his information far exceeded this.

Su Changxing replied: After becoming an Extraordinary, one becomes a Tier Nine Extraordinary. An Extraordinary is influenced by their own actions and can grow stronger during this process. There is a hidden level of Mysteriousness, and the higher the Mysteriousness, the stronger the Extraordinary.

Only when the Mysteriousness reaches a certain level can one advance to the next Tier. The advancement method is simple and can be done at the Mysterious Shop.

······

Su Changxing did not write too much information, merely sharing what he knew and the ”common sense” about Extraordinary beings.

After a while, Feng Hua Mao responded: Thank you for the information, it is indeed valuable. I will send you the Points.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and replied: Are you an Extraordinary now?

Feng Hua Mao: Unfortunately, no.

As expected, he wasn’t.

This was more or less what he had estimated. Strong Superpower Users don’t easily become Extraordinary, whereas the weakest Superpower Users have an easier time becoming Extraordinary.

Receiving the 20,000 Points from Feng Hua Mao, his total Points had reached 50,000, which for Su Changxing wasn’t much, just temporarily sufficient.

”He didn’t show any intention of recruiting me. Is it because he already expected me to refuse?”

Su Changxing murmured to himself while looking at his phone.

It was almost seven o’clock; he got up to head outside, ready to return to his room, and saw Huang Biao walking in with a serious expression.

Su Changxing immediately asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Huang Biao hesitated and said, ”Someone just died in the settlement, fell from the building to their death.”

Su Changxing paused and said, ”Suicide?”

Huang Biao shook his head and said, ”No, it looks like someone pushed him from above, and there’s a penetrating wound on his chest.”

Su Changxing pondered and said, ”So, no culprit was found? That doesn’t make sense. With so many people, surely someone should have seen it.”

Huang Biao sat back in his chair and said in a deep voice:

”Not exactly, some people saw him jump off the building himself, with no one around... I feel this is a bit odd, and we should pay more attention.”

Su Changxing, however, wasn’t too concerned. In the apocalypse, conflicts between people were common, and vengeance wasn’t unheard of, and said:

”Ask people who knew him if he had any conflicts or grudges with anyone.”

Huang Biao looked at Su Changxing and pondered, ”His body is quite unusual, the skin on his chest turned black. The killer might possess some kind of ability.”

”Ability?”

Su Changxing frowned and said, ”You mean there are other hidden Superpower Users in the base?”

Huang Biao nodded and said, ”It’s very possible, but not certain. You should go down and take a look at the body first.”

Then, Su Changxing followed Huang Biao downstairs, where the body had been moved to one side, leaving a human-shaped bloodstain on the ground.

The body belonged to a middle-aged man, with rough skin. His back hit the ground, causing a lot of flesh to burst open, his spine broken into several pieces, and the clothes on his chest were torn open with a penetrating wound. The skin around the wound turned black as if something was flowing within.

A lot of people were gathered around, discussing the strange scene.

Death wasn’t unusual, but the manner of this man’s death was exceedingly bizarre.

A short-haired man stood nearby, looking terrified, presumably a friend of the deceased, and said:

”He might have provoked something unclean. I just saw him jump off the building alone, and I didn’t even have the chance to stop him.”

Su Changxing listened and thought, according to some detective mystery novels’ plot developments, whoever says this kind of thing is often the culprit about forty percent of the time, but his expression didn’t seem fake.

Huang Tao stood next to them, full of disbelief, and said, ”How is that possible? Does he have suicidal tendencies? I saw him before and he seemed quite determined to survive.”

Obviously, he also knew the deceased.

The short-haired man nodded affirmatively, ”He wouldn’t commit suicide. We’ve struggled so hard to survive; how could he just kill himself? It’s too absurd.”

Huang Tao shrugged, not knowing what to make of it, and it did seem rather absurd. He turned to Su Changxing and asked:

”Brother Su, any ideas? I can’t tell anything from this body, and we don’t have any forensics experts here.”

”Let me take a look.”

Su Changxing squatted in front of the body, activating ”True Knowledge” to examine the wound on the man’s chest.

[A wound pierced by a long and large scythe, seemingly with some kind of energy corroding the flesh]

A long and large scythe?

Su Changxing was taken aback; such a weapon was quite conspicuous and couldn’t be hidden, yet he had no recollection of anyone using this weapon in the settlement.

Huang Biao noticed the change in Su Changxing’s expression and asked, ”What is it?”

Su Changxing stood up, looking puzzled, and said, ”He was pierced through the chest by a scythe, a rather large one. Do we have anyone in the settlement using this kind of weapon?”

Huang Tao interjected decisively, ”No, that weapon would be hard to find, and it’s not as convenient to use as swords, sticks, or guns.”

Now the problem arose: since there was no such weapon in the base, how did this man die?

Su Changxing’s eyes darkened, and he said in a low voice, ”In that case, he most likely wasn’t alone. Someone must have sent him the weapon from outside the base, but I don’t understand the point. A scythe isn’t the only thing that can kill.”

Huang Biao nodded and said, ”It is indeed a bit strange... Let’s just leave it for now. If there are more deaths, we’ll see then.”

The death of one or two people wasn’t a big deal. The sky was getting darker, and they had more important matters to attend to.

Then the others carried the body away to dispose of it, while Su Changxing returned to his room, opened his phone, and checked the results of the shop refresh.

The other items weren’t important.

His main focus was on rare, valuable quality items, which were crucial. It seemed the items refreshed in the Discount Shop were always useful for Su Changxing.

He looked at the top of the item list.

It was a handgun.

A silver long-barrel revolver with exquisite craftsmanship, exuding a taste of elegance.

”Another gun weapon, but why is it still a handgun...”

Su Changxing found it not bad; at least it matched his advancement path as a ”Pistol Enthusiast,” although this handgun was different from what he imagined.
