Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 230: Chapter 229: Surveillance

Among them, the old man named Shang Benqing joined the settlement during the Blood Moon, considered a newcomer to the group.

The old man seemed naturally sociable and said with a chuckle:

”Actually, I never thought of becoming an Extraordinary, I just wanted to fight against these Extraordinaries, which can be considered as an unintended success.”

Zhou An paused and asked, ”You joined Team A just to fight against these Hunters?”

A sharp glint flashed in the old man’s eyes, and he said:

”That’s right, I came here alone. My previous teammates were all killed by the Hunters. I felt I should avenge them, yes, just revenge.”

”All dead?”

Zhou An could roughly imagine the situation; it was similar at their base before. If it weren’t for Su Changxing, they probably wouldn’t have survived.

The old man nodded and said, ”Yes, all dead. The people we were just chatting with all died just like that. Actually, I should have died too, but I don’t know how I survived.”

The others didn’t express much; after all, in the apocalypse, death is common, and groups that have survived unscathed until now are actually few.

It’s now a little past seven in the morning, the sky is dim and not very bright, and some teams downstairs have started going out for clearing tasks.

Entering the study and closing the door, Su Changxing leaned back in the chair, looking levelly at these people, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned:

”First of all, congratulations on becoming Extraordinaries. Being able to become one means you have qualified to survive.”

Qian Runwei appeared a bit dazed, clearly still not over the surprise. Previously, he never thought he had a chance to become an Extraordinary, and he said:

”I became an Extraordinary all thanks to Brother Su. In the future, whatever Brother Su says, I’ll follow without a word.”

Su Changxing looked at Qian Runwei’s earnest expression and gradually turned serious, saying:

”Since you have become Extraordinaries with my help, and the settlement’s help, naturally you bear an extra responsibility... After all, rights and responsibilities are interconnected.”

In truth, he wasn’t very worried about Zhou An and Qian Runwei. This talk was mainly for the other three, and some things should be made clear.

A woman in a gray tight outfit, with a delicate appearance and a cold disposition, said calmly:

”You mean we need to work for you?”

Her tone was very flat, seemingly without any emotion, just stating a fact.

Su Changxing’s face appeared gentler under the oil lamp as he nodded and said:

”Yes, work for yourself, or work for everyone. More importantly, we need to unite.”

He said earnestly, ”Well, anyone with other ideas can come... spar with me.”

”Goddamn spar with you.”

The woman clearly wanted to say something, but hearing this, she held back and swallowed back what she intended to say.

Extraordinaries themselves are powerful and uncontrollable forces; he needed to suppress them while they had just become Extraordinaries.

Human desires would expand infinitely in an uncontrollable premise, eventually leading to madness and self-destruction.

No one spoke, and the room fell into brief silence, perhaps because even if there were problems, now there seemed to be none.

”Tap tap~”

Su Changxing’s face was partially hidden in shadow, showing a smile. With one hand placed on the table, his finger tapped rhythmically, and he said:

”Hmm, it seems you have no issues. Remember, from now on, I’m your leader. Whatever I say goes... Now, let’s do some self-introductions regarding your position, which is beneficial for team cooperation. Zhou An, you start first.”

Zhou An nodded and said: ”I’m Zhou An, a Juggler, Upper Rank, good at controlling Flying Sabers, as well as climbing, stealth, and observation.”

Geng Yong continued, ”Geng Yong, Prisoner, Upper Rank, good at restricting enemy movements, which should be considered a kind of support ability, though not strong in combat itself.”

Qian Runwei thought for a moment and said, ”Qian Runwei, Middle Rank, Striker, greatly enhancing the impact of weapons... It seems Middle Rank isn’t as good as Upper Rank, right?”

Su Changxing nodded, ”Yeah, Upper Rank is definitely stronger than Middle Rank, but at the moment, Middle Rank seems more stable, which isn’t bad.”

The woman’s expression shifted, saying, ”Yu Jieyi, Strongman, with greatly enhanced physical strength and Power.”

This is definitely a close combat position, extremely formidable even among Hunters. It’s quite unusual for this woman to have such a position.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and asked, ”What do you do in the real world?”

Yu Jieyi looked at Su Changxing, hesitated, and said:

”A fighter athlete.”

Indeed.

It seems that the self-awakened positions are formed based on their characteristics, so the compatibility must be high.

Subsequently, the old man chuckled and said: ”It seems I’m the only Lower Rank, Shang Benqing, swift one, the ability is simple—very fast speed.”

Although the old man is old, after becoming an Extraordinary, he shows no signs of aging, even giving a youthful and vigorous impression.

Su Changxing previously thought such self-awakening would be Upper Rank roles, since he and Zhu Wenwu were leading. But now it seems this is not the case.

Zhou An and Geng Yong also became Upper Rank Extraordinaries; they were close to becoming Extraordinaries before... Could it be because he accelerated their growth, which resulted in Middle and Lower Rank roles?

Hmm, that’s very possible.

Su Changxing nodded, pursed his lips, and said, ”Hmm, get yourselves ready, and familiarize with your abilities. We’ll head out soon.”

Zhou An thought for a moment and asked: ”Head out? Where are we going?”

Su Changxing picked up the map drawn by Zhu Wenwu on the table, and said:

”Of course, to deal with those Hunters. Their powers are weaker during the day; this is our chance.”

The old man brightened up, saying, ”When you say that, I’m energized. Just tell me what to do.”

Su Changxing looked at him, sternly saying, ”Hmm, just charge slower and don’t die.”

For this action, Su Changxing only plans to bring fifty people from last night, who are already the elite of the settlement, mostly enhanced, with some even gaining abilities last night.

With the balance of power shifting, their odds of success are high.

Su Changxing pondered for a while, then turned to Zhu Wenwu and said:

”You go scout the area first; I’ll bring people half an hour later. In case of emergencies, protect yourself first.”

Zhu Wenwu’s abilities are well-suited for reconnaissance; as long as he’s careful, it should be safe. But Su Changxing is worried that these Hunters may have set up ambushes, and if their action is detected, things wouldn’t be as optimistic.

Zhu Wenwu thought for a moment, nodded, and said, ”Hmm, no problem. I’ll tell my sister and head out.”
