Chapter 251: Chapter 250: Lost Signal

Zhou An and the others arrived here first, but they came from another direction, not the direction Yu Jieyi and others were in.

Zhou An hurriedly came up with his people and said, ”Brother Su, we wandered around upstairs for a while and just happened to come here.”

Earlier, Su Changxing had told him to first reach the old man’s level, which should be the top level, two floors underground. However, after wandering around for a while, they didn’t reach that position but ended up underground.

”Is the space above sealed off? By logic, you should definitely be able to reach that place after walking for so long.”

Su Changxing couldn’t help but furrow his brows; the situation seemed to have changed compared to before.

Zhou An thought for a while and said, ”Could it be that we’re just unlucky, so we didn’t go up?”

Su Changxing had already told them the general rules of space changes here, and if they circled around a few more times, they could definitely reach some connected space.

Zhu Wenwu reacted quickly, saying in a solemn voice:

”This possibility seems small; it feels like these Hunters don’t want us to leave here, sealing off the exit, giving a sense of being trapped.”

Su Changxing thought Zhu Wenwu was still very perceptive, worthy of being the first to awaken as an Extraordinary, nodded in agreement, and said:

”Yes, that makes sense. It’s trying to find ways to seal off the outgoing space; we now need to seize the initiative.”

Zhou An seemed to have thought of something, saying, ”Hey, can we violently break the wall above to get out······”

He then felt something was wrong, saying, ”Hmm, there shouldn’t be such an obvious loophole.”

”We can try.”

Su Changxing pondered, not immediately rejecting the idea.

He had a similar thought before, but guessed that even if the wall was broken, it wouldn’t be possible to cross floors; space was divided into blocks, making little difference between moving sideways and upwards.

But still, it’s worth a try; after all, practice and theory are two different things.

Zhu Wenwu looked at the ceiling above and said, ”It’s a structure akin to reinforced concrete, very thick, and will take some time to break.”

”No rush.”

Su Changxing waved his hand and said, ”Let’s leave this place first.”

Having said that, he opened his phone to contact the old man to have him try to see if he could leave that level.

Message sent, no reply.

”Huh? Asleep?”

Su Changxing put down his phone and led the group towards the direction where Yu Jieyi was.

Zhu Wenwu took a big gulp of water and asked, ”What’s wrong? Can’t reach him?”

Su Changxing nodded and said in a deep voice, ”Yes, but I don’t know what’s going on. Earlier I passed by there, and his status seemed alright; he shouldn’t be asleep.”

Zhou An’s eyes widened, muttering, ”Could something have happened, or the Hunter······ hmm, I’m a jinx; he’s just probably asleep.”

The old man, though not very noticeable, was peaceful and belonged to the good people, having decent relations, could chat with anyone.

Zhu Wenwu thought for a moment and said, ”Qian Runwei seems to be in the same situation—no sign of death but unreachable, quite odd.”

For such a situation, Su Changxing could only think of being tied up by Hunters, but the likelihood was really low.

”I got it!”

A spark flashed in Zhou An’s eyes as he shouted, startling everyone around.

Zhu Wenwu paused, doubtingly said, ”What? You better say something reliable.”

Zhou An, ignoring Zhu Wenwu’s disdainful look, continued:

”Isn’t it just like sending messages in the real world? There are three possibilities why the other party doesn’t reply.”

”First, the other party doesn’t want to respond, hmm, that’s ruled out; second, the other party hasn’t seen it, busy with other things, as said before; third, the signal is lost—we may have no signal over here, causing messages not to be sent, or the other party has no signal, unable to receive them.”

He had a proud look on his face, a bit of triumph; Zhou An was smart sometimes, then continued:

”We can still see changes on the forum, indicating we still have the signal here, so possibly, his side has lost the signal.”

Zhu Wenwu smiled, scrutinizing Zhou An, saying:

”Not bad, but our phones are equipped by the Doomsday Game; the probability of losing signal is very low.”

Lost signal?

Su Changxing suddenly thought of the time when he was in the heretic-created Alternate Space, where the phone was indeed in lost signal status, and spoke:

”Zhou An’s words indeed hold a possibility—phones can lose signal under certain conditions; I’ve encountered it before; it seems it requires complete detachment from this world’s space······ meaning, the upper space has been completely isolated, becoming independent Alternate Spaces!”

This is quite a shocking fact—the red-robed people can actually create Alternate Spaces; just thinking about it is astonishing.

”Alternate Space?”

Zhou An listened with a bit of confusion, unclear about what exactly Su Changxing was talking about, finding it quite mystical.

But there were those who understood, like Geng Yong who furrowed his brows, without speaking, appearing somewhat anxious, wondering if their path was shrouded in darkness, even starting to doubt whether his previous decisions were correct.

They were originally a hastily assembled team, and at this moment, few spoke, each with their own thoughts; yet in this situation, they had no retreat, no other choice but to follow Su Changxing, determinedly onward.

Yu Jieyi and others saw Su Changxing and his group, feeling both happy and excited; being in such a dark, soundless place for a long time was truly torturous.

Yu Jieyi was already prepared, having received Su Changxing’s message earlier.

Su Changxing looked at the most severely injured ones, crossing his mind the thought of abandoning them, as perhaps that would be the most rational action.

But it was merely a thought; they hadn’t reached a dead end, there was no need.

Zhu Wenwu instructed the people behind him, saying, ”Get some people to carry these wounded; we won’t abandon anyone.”

Then, Su Changxing once again led the group at a moderate speed, along the main passage, heading back.

The space distorted with light and shadow, and the surrounding environment suddenly changed.

There were some white light columns placed along the walls; the floor had dusty chaotic footprints; most notably, a door with a twisted frame slightly ajar beside it.

Zhou An looked around: ”Hmm? It’s here again, Brother Su, we also came here from the bottom level before.”

”Our luck seems quite good.”

Su Changxing’s mouth curled upwards, looking at the slightly ajar door.
