Chapter 216: Chapter 215: The Same Decision

”No, there’s something wrong. Cheng Yong and his group have lost contact; they must have been attacked... there’s no other reason for them being unreachable.”

A short-haired man in a blue turtleneck jacket walked down the street, muttering to himself with a frown, sensing that something was amiss.

Immediately, a woman beside him wearing a flat cap said, ”Another team is unreachable too, huh?”

Were both teams attacked simultaneously, wiped out?

The man’s face showed disbelief; he didn’t think anyone in this region could accomplish that, except...

He recalled the image of a blood-soaked person breaking through an encirclement, the Sleeping Beast, the powerful human from the Otherworld:

”If it’s him, he might have a chance to do it. Did he already predict we would come?”

The woman with the flat cap, with a face as delicate as a normal human, lacking other Hunter characteristics, smiled and said:

”Even if it’s him, he shouldn’t be able to wipe out two teams that quickly. Each team was some distance apart; it’s almost impossible.”

Suddenly.

Her expression changed, and she said in a grave voice, ”Big Head and his team are currently fighting those who attacked them. The other two teams have gone to support... There are many of them, nearly a hundred people, with one very strong individual and a monkey.”

The man wore an expression that seemed to say, ’I knew it,’ and sneered:

”Get everyone nearby over there; we’re going too. These insects dare to resist, completely oblivious to their limits.”

In an instant, more than ten of their people had died, which made him exceptionally furious. Each death tangibly weakened their strength.

They didn’t have many people.

From the looks of it, those attackers were likely from that settlement.

Initially, he planned to deal with the settlement later, but he didn’t expect them to bring about their own demise.

The man’s eyes were bright as he spoke coldly, ”They don’t seem to understand that obedient pigs live longer.”

The woman looked up at the moon in the sky and smiled wryly, ”It’s a normal thing. We’ve been through this; without learning from experience, they can’t see the truth.”

After two had died, the remaining Hunters realized the situation was dire. Among these humans from the Otherworld, a formidable Power User had arrived.

But they were already held up and couldn’t escape, forced to brace themselves against the settlement people’s siege. Although those people were not very strong, killing them all was no easy task.

Su Changxing seized this opportunity to take down the Hunters one by one. Previously, these Hunters had surrounded him; now, they were surrounded by Su Changxing and his group.

Under these circumstances, no Hunter could withstand a few attacks from Su Changxing.

One strike isn’t enough?

Well, then take two more.

From the moment Su Changxing joined the battle to its end, the whole process took less than ten minutes. He took down five people, and the last one fell under Huang Biao’s knife, also essentially hacked to death.

At this moment, Su Changxing received a distress message from Zhu Wenwu. They had encountered more Hunters and were retreating towards Su Changxing and his group.

The response of these Hunters was much faster than they had anticipated.

Su Changxing shouted, ”Huang Biao, take your people and head over to Zhu Wenwu. I’ll go ahead; they’ve already run into trouble over there.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Su Changxing turned and sprinted down another street, quickly vanishing into the night.

Huang Biao also realized the urgency and immediately rallied everyone to follow Su Changxing towards Zhu Wenwu’s direction, shouting:

”Prepare for combat; we might encounter those Hunters at any moment.”

With the obstruction of zombies, their pace wasn’t very fast, but fortunately, the distance wasn’t too far.

Things began to develop in unpredictable ways, like a chess game where each move became more chaotic with every piece placed.

On the dim street under the moonlight, the ground was littered with zombie corpses. Some iron shards floated rhythmically in the air, mixed with some black liquid.

Cai Jing looked at the intelligence on her phone and said in a deep voice:

”It turns out that in sector three, there’s a settlement that seems to have acted against the Hunters. We have informants in that settlement, but they haven’t joined the operation.”

Lin Xiuyu, with a look of surprise, said, ”Huh? Are they going to their deaths? They actually provoked those Hunters... they’re lucky if they survive.”

A middle-aged man walked calmly at the front, with medium-length hair poking out from his hat, one strand white, one black, floating strangely in the air. His eyes shone with bright blue light under his sunglasses, visible even through the dark lenses, and he said softly:

”So they have the confidence to clash with those Hunters? Interesting. Didn’t you say before there’s a capable man named Su Changxing there? Is he leading them?”

Lin Xiuyu, with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a phone, checking it leisurely, said:

”You know what, it really is him. One of their leaders is named Su Changxing. It seems they are one and the same, and perhaps also ’Self-heating Rice.’

”And according to our informant, ’Self-heating Rice’ has incredibly exaggerated strength, even taking down a Screamer alone. He might already be an Extraordinary.”

Some of the information was from higher-ups, while some he analyzed, organized, and inferred himself.

The middle-aged man nodded thoughtfully and said, ”Keep a close watch on their situation. It’s not easy to resist those Hunters; even we have to be cautious, forced to stay on the defensive... Can you pinpoint the Hunters’ hideout now?”

Lin Xiuyu shook his head, saying: ”No, their movements are extremely covert, and they deliberately conceal their hideout. Currently, we don’t have any leads; we can only narrow down a general area, but that means nothing.”

Then, with a hint of frustration, he added: ”Moreover, boss, it seems because of you, these Hunters have abandoned this area, which suggests they made a similar decision to ours.”

These Hunters seem scared; they haven’t shown themselves tonight, so he assumed they probably withdrew or were preparing to leave this settlement area.

Cai Jing furrowed her brow and said, ”Doesn’t this also mean other areas will face greater pressure from the Hunters?”

Lin Xiuyu paused and said, ”That’s indeed the logic, but there’s nothing we can do. Hah, they’re not going to move towards ’Self-heating Rice’s’ area, are they?”

Cai Jing glanced at him and said dryly, ”Not likely until you mentioned it.”
