Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 247: Chapter 246: Abandonment

This may seem like sarcasm, but it’s actually probing for answers.

He could roughly guess that these Hunters were targeting them because of this; if it were for other reasons, he couldn’t figure it out.

Teng Beng heard this and smiled even more broadly, straightforwardly saying, ”Actually, I have nothing to hide. Young man, you don’t have to pretend either. I’ve lived longer than you think.”

”It’s not entirely a dead end. You need to understand, every world has its apocalypse. The Energy Station should stop by itself one day. We just need to bet that we can live until that day... Once we make it to that day, the world will be a new one.”

As he spoke, an excited expression appeared on Teng Beng’s aged face, evoking the image of an old horse still eager to gallop a thousand miles.

Su Changxing did not agree with Teng Beng’s statement. The stopping of the Energy Station doesn’t mean the disappearance of such influence, just that it won’t continue to grow.

But such matters are hard to pin down, much like how the Energy Net plan seemed glorious before but turned out to be the exact opposite when it was actually implemented.

Su Changxing thought for a moment, then unceremoniously criticized, ”To be honest, I think you’re dreaming, maybe you’re what they call a dreamer, an apocalyptic dreamer, ha, pinning hope on the impossible.”

Teng Beng walked up to a screen, saying, ”Maybe so, but this isn’t just my idea, and in fact, aren’t you the same?”

His figure gradually enlarged, becoming several times its original size, making him appear more illusory. He continued,

”Shield Company, the dominant force in our world before the apocalypse, spanning several countries, essentially guiding and influencing the course of our world.”

Su Changxing paused for a moment and said, ”I know, the Energy Stations were built by them.”

A profound look appeared in Teng Beng’s eyes, and he smiled, saying, ”In fact, after the apocalypse, their status hasn’t changed. They’re still leading our world.”

”The reason we need to slaughter you is also part of their plan. Hmm, it might delay our demise a bit.”

Su Changxing was a bit surprised, surprised by the resilience of Shield Company. The apocalypse had destroyed the world, but it hadn’t completely destroyed a company. He said,

”Hmm, then what’s the principle behind this?”

Teng Beng stared at Su Changxing, and after a while said,

”That’s what I’d like to know too, but one thing I can be sure of is that we’re still working for Shield Company. Even if they destroyed the world... Su Changxing, you’re quite unusual. In just a few days, you’ve grown to this extent. I have a plan that needs you.”

Su Changxing looked at him with a faint smile, ”But we are enemies.”

”Does that matter?”

Teng Beng said word by word, ”This plan benefits you and could reveal some truths.”

Su Changxing took a deep breath, already having a rough idea of Teng Beng’s so-called plan, and coldly said, ”I think there’s probably no need.”

He suddenly drew his pistol from his waist, turned sideways, and fired several shots at the space where the man in red was.

He already felt that this person was meticulous and terrifyingly complex, thinking it unwise to follow his rhythm, or he might walk into the trap laid by the opponent.

So he decided to flip the chessboard and return things to their original state.

”Bang bang bang~”

Six bullets crisscrossed, firing from different angles.

The space twisted once again.

But this time, Su Changxing had blocked the man in red’s surrounding space using the angle from which the bullet splinters shot before.

A bullet on the edge hit the man in red’s chest, no blood flowed out, but it was evident that the surrounding space suddenly trembled.

Teng Beng’s figure became blurry, surprised: ”You actually hit him, but you can’t kill him...”

Then, Teng Beng’s gray shadow completely disappeared, and the expression on the man in red’s face returned as he retreated into the shadows and disappeared.

”That shot just now seemed to have worked.”

Su Changxing felt that the surrounding space seemed to have stabilized a lot, at least no longer in an uncertain state.

He felt that if he could shoot the head just now, he might even have killed the other party directly.

Without thinking much, Su Changxing ran towards the spot where the man in red had disappeared, feeling the surrounding space change once again.

Teng Beng frowned tightly, the outcome as he expected, said in a deep voice:

”That kid can’t be settled with, hmm, still too young.”

The man in the high-collar coat laughed:

”His strength is quite good, overall at the level of a High Ability User, but more importantly, he’s too sensitive. The ’Mole’ itself is just a bluff, and can’t leave there, afraid it can’t hold. Hmm, do you need to send support?”

Teng Beng said calmly, ”No need, we have more important matters.”

The man in the high-collar coat gave him a deep look and said:

”You truly are heartless. They all believe in you, especially the ’Mole.’ You pulled them out of despair, then abandoned them.”

Teng Beng turned and walked out silently, saying, ”Everyone has their mission; priorities of events always exist... we’re ready to leave too.”

Under the shadow cast by the wine cabinet, there seemed to be crystalline tears gliding across his face, like stars suddenly twinkling in a pitch-black night sky.

On the ground around him lay more than a dozen bodies, some were Hunters, and some were theirs.

No one was around, it was very quiet.

Su Changxing didn’t see the silhouette of the man in red; among those on the ground were some he recognized as people who had been with Zhu Wenwu’s group.

After they split up, Zhu Wenwu’s group had another fierce battle with the Hunters. It seemed the Hunters couldn’t match them and later got separated again.

”At least we won. If we had lost, it couldn’t have ended well.”

Su Changxing felt fortunate, assuming that Teng Beng was able to find him for a talk was due to this reason.

He walked forward.

This was a small apartment room, considered part of a hospital’s ward area, and also where these Hunters lived.

Su Changxing reloaded bullets into his pistol’s magazine one by one as he walked forward, checking the surroundings.

Soon, a burst of intense running sound came from the front.

”What are you running for? Three against one, what are you afraid of?”

A voice full of arrogance and madness.

This was Lao Han, Shang Benqing’s voice.

Turning the corner, Su Changxing saw Lao Han, covered in blood, chasing three heavily injured Hunters.

The three Hunters saw Su Changxing and were petrified; behind them was a madman, and in front, another person appeared.

These few Hunters seemed to have fought to their limit.

Su Changxing easily slashed the person at the front in the head with one swing, then with a reverse swing, slashed at another person, who blocked it with a weapon.
