Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

In the depths of the ocean.

Along the way, the sea churned, and giant beasts roared. Even the Sea Clan understood the primary task at hand—eliminate all existing members of the Demon Tribe on Earth to restore peace to the mother planet.

Everywhere they looked was filled with fighting, roaring, the cheers of sea beasts, and the wails of the Demon Tribe. This was a turning point—though maybe not a reversal from defense to offense, it at least removed many restraints.

Wen Yu, following the path of turbulence, went straight to the ocean floor and arrived at the Sea King Tribe’s stronghold—Deep Blue City.

Wen Yu had never been to Deep Blue before, so he naturally didn’t know what it looked like. However, now he saw, the Sea King Tribe had arranged it quite well—pearls and gemstones everywhere. The architectural style, though tending toward the rugged, had a certain exotic beauty. The city was vast, housing not only the Sea King Tribe but also many divine beast species that thrived there.

The overall strength was relatively considerable.

At a spot above Deep Blue City, Wen Yu awaited the people he was supposed to meet—the small group representing Earth’s consciousness, led by Tang Haofei.

Tang Haofei, Demigod, Sea King, and Bai...

”Welcome to Deep Blue, my brother!”

Upon seeing Wen Yu, Tang Haofei immediately spread his arms open and gave Wen Yu a warm hug, which made the Sea King feel slightly uncomfortable.

It was agreed that Tang Haofei would come out and confront Wen Yu, so what’s with this harmonious scene now...

Wen Yu also noticed the Sea King’s dissatisfaction with him. He simply crossed his arms, eyes fixed on the Sea King, until the Sea King took a deep breath, stepped forward two steps, and bowed his head slightly to Wen Yu: ”Greetings... Lord Sequence Number 1.”

Wen Yu nodded, feeling an inexplicable venting of frustration, and then moved on to the main topic.

”The teleportation gates on land have been set up, only those in the ocean remain. I will install 3 large teleportation gates and 30 small ones here. Is the number sufficient?”

”No problem.”

When discussing this matter, the Sea King’s earlier gloom vanished, replaced with a beaming smile and excitement—the mutant beasts were really easier to deal with than humans.

Having finished speaking, Wen Yu immediately got to work. As the teleportation gates gradually spread out, Wen Yu turned to Tang Haofei.

”I’d like to meet Earth’s consciousness, is that possible?”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s inquiry, Tang Haofei merely shook his head. Wen Yu did not press the matter further, only nodding to show his understanding, and then glanced sidelong at Bai, who gave him a somewhat undecipherable smile.

This actually allowed Wen Yu to breathe a sigh of relief.

Smiling slightly, it proved the plan was proceeding smoothly, which freed up sufficient time—for him, that was enough.

Once the teleportation gates were set up, there was no further conversation among them. Wen Yu was the first to step into the teleportation gate, entering the tiered battlefield, and after a moment’s reflection, Tang Haofei followed.

No one paid attention to the two leaving one after the other.

Bai and the Demigod turned and walked into the ocean depths, possibly to discuss some private matters with Earth’s consciousness, while the Sea King, unable to contain his happiness, pulled out a giant conch from his waist and blew it hard.

Accompanied by a distant ”buzzing” sound, one after another of the Sea King Clan, carrying luggage, entered the teleportation gates with their families—leaving the past behind, marching toward the future.

The tiered battlefield signifies the end of an old era and the beginning of a new one.

...

Mainland Bloc Number 1635, District 6.

Sparse woods swayed in the wind, and the dappled sunlight made the scenery here clean and charming.

”So, how about it? This is the retreat location I’ve arranged for you. The view’s not bad, right?”

Wen Yu and Tang Haofei stood side by side by a small lake, casually sitting on the rocks by the lake, appreciating this rare tranquility, which was quite poetic.

”Retreat? You always trick me... District 6, what kind of retreat location is this? I think you’re treating me like the Dinghai Shen Needle.”

Tang Haofei chuckled as he spoke, while Wen Yu merely shrugged nonchalantly.

”This is only at Level 6. With each level you advance, you’ll need to find a new mainland to reside on. You’re familiar with the battle rules of the tiered battlefield. With you holding fort in the highest battle zone, I have peace of mind.”

Wen Yu unashamedly displayed his little calculations, but Tang Haofei... had no real objections.

With Old Tang’s level of skill, character, and status, even in retirement, he would still find things he could do—being the Dinghai Shen Needle, helping uphold justice from time to time. For someone like Tang Haofei, who had no organization, discipline, or reliable backing, it was perfect.

But...

”Why do I feel like you’re giving last instructions?”

Old Tang joked with a smile, yet Wen Yu merely remained silent, after a while Old Tang stopped smiling, looking up at the sky, and spoke with bitterness.

”Can’t keep it hidden, huh?”

”Naturally, it can’t be hidden, just a matter of time.”

”What will you do then?”

”Just live as best as I can... From the apocalypse’s beginning, I held onto this goal. Didn’t expect that even after becoming the strongest, becoming Sequence Number 1, I still can’t escape the curse of just living...”

Old Tang fell silent.

”What about living afterwards?”

”Afterwards? Whether or not I keep living, from then on, there’ll be no Wen Yu in the world, a simple truth, right? I can’t possibly dodge this calamity and then publicly face the Dominator, can I?”

A simple logic... but its implication isn’t as simple.

”Tang Haofei retreats, abandoning worldly matters, and Wen Yu vanishes... this tiered battlefield came quite abruptly.”

Old Tang rested his head on his hands, speaking with emotion—he finally understood the tiered battlefield’s significance.

It meant the end of a former era, the era when Wen Yu and Tang Haofei reigned, and it heralded the beginning of another.

Unconsciously, the strongest from the last era stood at the crossroad of history, yet as protagonists of the bygone era, the next era ultimately did not belong to them.

”Enough about that, think more about the good things.”

Wen Yu laughed, pulling out two cans of beer and tossing one to Tang Haofei, then took a big swig.

”As we leave, it’s called making way, giving room for the newcomers. Maybe in the future, there’ll be those stronger than us? Aren’t talents born in each generation...”

”Including ourselves, you see, without all those twists and turns, you’re here farming and retreating, teasing Tang Two and Tang Three occasionally, while I hide in some unknown corner, observing the world’s changes like a god. This way of thinking is pretty good...”

Wen Yu went on, yet his voice grew quieter...

About Tang Haofei’s thoughts, Wen Yu wasn’t certain, yet...

Wen Yu finished his beer in one gulp, watching the sunset slowly sink beyond the horizon, expressionless as he voiced the deep thoughts inside.

”I am unwilling.”
